Thanks for the list Matt, really good, I would add "The Practice of The Presence of God" by brother Lawrence.

Monergism and Chapel Library has a ton of amazing Puritan/Reformation books for free. I found the Sum of Saving knowledge on there and there are a ton of others💯

I love Chapel Library. I just checked them and it seems they don’t have the Sum of Saving Knowledge. I’ve had my eye on getting the edition Dr. Everhard showed in this video but can’t spend the money yet. I wish Chapel Library still had some copies.

I had to laugh. It's no coincidence that your thumbnail included an image of a fist today. Well played

This is a great idea. I have such a hard time reading long books. Short books that just get to the point and gut punch are the best!

I love a short book. Most books, especially works of theology are way longer than they need to be! Look at the westminster confession of faith. Masterful and incredibly concise

I just finished formatting my debut novel. It comes to 315 pgs. Quite small for a novel. That troubled me yet I prayed on it and have come to a singular thought. My protagonist has a complete journey.

That's a good one. I think there's an audio book of it on KZbin. I've listened to the book a couple times though in the past.

Great video Matt! And great recommendations. I’ve read most of the books you list, but not all, and they are very good. Two other short books that have helped me are, “A Call to Prayer” by J. C. Ryle, and “Behind A Frowning Providence” by John J. Murray. I would recommend these books with at least a two thumbs up.

If you live in the UK and want a good modern language psalter, use "Sing Psalms" issued by the Free Church of Scotland or "The Psalms for Singing. A 21st Century Edition" by the Reformed Presbyterian Church of Ireland.

I’m planning to purchase the Calvin book however I can’t figure out which translation is best? There is always different versions of some of the old dead theologians and I’m always concerned they will not be true to the author , anyone on here have a recommendation ? Thanks! BTW I just received my copy of worshiptainment in the mail, can’t wait to read.

Maybe not quite what you had in mind for this list, but Randy Alcorn has some short, powerful books. Machen's The Person of Jesus and MacArthur's The Quest for Character are worth reading, too.

Since I’m in a goodreads challenge I searched for definition of a book. Whatever source I found said under 85 pages and you’re reading a pamphlet not a book. Seems like a good cutoff point to me.

A few small books that can fit in your pocket that can change your life: a printed copy of the Jewish book of Proverbs, any one of the biographies of Jesus printed individually, Common Sense by Thomas Paine, Mere Christianity by CS Lewis, among others.

Thomas Paine was a rabid atheist. Bad recommendation.

@gusloader123 According to Thomas Paine's biography, he was a deist. However Orthodox Christians considered him an atheist.
