The reason for the two contracts at the same time is to make you feed all the dinos to score big points..makes you work for it and not sneak a big contract in at the end. Makes for a much bigger game. The die makes a huge difference too, rolla wound and you won't get the dino in you need in the last round, can't count on it.

I think a great selling point for this game is it's lightness. I am not always in the mood for Dinosaur Island / Dinogenics, but this is a quick fun game, even solo

It’s hard not to compare this to Dinogenics. It seems like a “light” version of that game

Great review Tom, agree with most of your points. However I'd argue the effects of rolling the die are quite fun. My friends and I have been scuppered by the injury result many times, meaning we couldn't fulfill contracts. I actually like that the consequence of rolling an injury isn't so severe as it keeps the game flow going and feels less punishing. Also I really like the egg - it can either help or hinder you depending on your situation. Overall I think these random outcomes are a nice addition to a game that has fairly few random elements. 🙂

Yeah they aren’t big random effects and can be mitigated by strategy or exploited by pressing your luck. I like this game. It’s just so cute

I love this game, just like all of the Tiny Epic series. My game groups don't tend to like the bigger games that I like, and these all have a big game feel (at least for the casual gamer) in a very accessible package. I think I'd prefer a game like Dinogenics, but for the simple fact that this will get more plays, I'm glad I chose this instead.

I do think the dinos and the text on the cards are just too small. Also, having to get the public contract in order to get the private contact at the same time is really difficult. Still haven’t been able to do it playing solo. The box, however, is not crowded. I have the expansion in there too. I guess I’ll have to feed my Dino’s so they grow and get bigger. 🤣
@MarloEkberg4 жыл бұрын
"Everything fits barely in the box"? I have the kickstarter version and there's a huge amount of empty space. It's kinda annoying because my biggest gripe with the game is the "tinyness" and how fiddly the game feels because of it - which could have been fixed with bigger meeples and/or cards. The actual gameplay and component quality is good, but if the size is the only reason I hesitate to bring this to the table, it really is too Tiny Epic.
@danielkaiser72454 жыл бұрын
I wish the dino meeples would have been slightly larger. It isn't a play issue with them as much as for some reason I have issues picking a handful up off the table when I am cleaning them up. It's nice that the game fits in a smaller box but it still can be a pain to set up as it feels like I need a set of tweezers for some of the pieces.

i really enjoy this game but i find the turns have too many phases and if not used to it it can be a bit overwhelming. but it has hit my table as a solo game quite often...probably my third fav tiny epic game! Nice vid Tom... Stay Hexy!

I enjoy the game, but I totally agree with the egg. Many times I was hoping to not get the egg due to space or feeding another Dino :)

The private contract issue can be solved quite easily and thematically: You can only fulfill a private contract after you got a public contract fulfilled ANYTIME in the game beforehand. Think of it as marketing starting to attract private investors...;-)

Discrepancies and confusion with the rules seems to be a common issue across the Tiny Epic games. Too much focus on the size of the games and not enough on gameplay

My understanding of the rules is you don’t have to fulfill a public and private at the same time to fulfill a private. Clarification on the rules anyone?
@TheDarktater4 жыл бұрын
Yes you do. The only way to fulfill a private contract is in combination with a public contract.

Quoting: After fulfilling a Public Contract, if you then have enough dinosaurs to discard and also fulfill your Private Contract, you may immediately do so.... You MUST first fulfill a Public Contract to do this.

@@TheDarktater well I’ve been playing that wrong. That really makes no sense though. Never felt doing them independently was imbalanced. Pretty sure I watched a how to play video where they explained it the other way.

@@fishfleas I’ve been playing by the rule you have to fulfill a public contract in order to fulfill a private contract. Have yet to actually do both at the same time. It makes it extremely hard to do so. I do wish it was not a rule. When playing solo it’s almost like not enough time to actually get what you would like done. While I like it, It’s frustrating because you would like to get more points.
@adamholt53954 жыл бұрын
The contracts are the thing about this game that I don't like. There should be a phase were you can complete contracts instead of having to use a worker to play them. The worker space should have been to reserve a contract or draw 3 off of the top and pick 1 similar to the Research pile. Because unless you already have a public contract ready to finish then you won't be able to get the dinos you need in that round because the public contracts refresh every round. So you have to risk and guess what public contracts will be available next turn.
@fredericoamaral954 жыл бұрын
No, they don't! Only the research cards are refreshed every round.
