As someone with a 525 Sq foot cabin , there is soooo much more room than you can imagine- I recommend finding an old sideboard or cabinet by dining and use that for plates, glasses, utensils etc. allow kitchen to be maximized . I also bought apartment size appliances and LOVE it.

We were in custom kitchen buisness for 50 years. If you talk to a real cabinet maker they can give you priceless info cause if they've been around a while they know all the mistakes that are made. It's a true art and my husband was the best. Many of the fancy companies do "printouts" of designs but he drew them to scale AND when a design was decided on he would build it out of cardboard cause so many cant visualize. I've even seen him build a vent hood out of cardboard and trim it out when he could tell customer had no clue how big it was gonna be. He's never been on a computer or had a phone in his life--old school. I had to come out of retirement where I was enjoying being a full time artist and be the finisher the last 12 years of the buisness and don't miss it a minute--HARD WORK! So many designs were figured out in middle of the night. Live in it and you'll figure out what will work best. So happy for you two and I know it'll be warm and homey whatever you do. Thanks for sharing!

Dear Salena and Pete. I’m VERY happy for you both. Seeing your dreams come true is wonderful. And believe me you’re not old 😂. You’re just in the puppy stage of aging 😂😂😂 As great as the house remodeling is/will be…. it’s the two of you that has almost ALMOST (not quite) brought tears to my eyes. Do you realize how special you are? I don’t know about anyone else, but I see love on all the footage with your husband and can almost feel the vibe between you two. I miss that kind of connection between man and woman. I’m 67 now and have been without a mate for a long while 😊. I pray all the time for a special person to come along who I can share with. I know this is long (and personal) but I’ll prolly never meet you in person so this venting pleases me. Enjoy each other, my dear. Love each other with human love AND the love of God. You and Pete ♥️

I'd get rid of the stove. There are plenty of countertop cooking options for sautéing, baking, broiling, frying, etc. The smaller fridge sounds great and more cabinet space where you can store appliances. Are you planning on doing a stackable washer dryer set or a two-in-one combo unit like are found in tiny homes? Anyway, happy for you both. What a lovely 2nd home by the sea!

I once bought a chair from a furniture store. Sent a pic to hubby-yep approved, will look good with the couch and love seat we just purchased. 8 months later Christmas comes and I put our little tree up. I moved the chair 3 feet to make room. He comes home and says “you bought a new chair!- where’d you get that?” 😮 😳 😂😂😂😂

Your kitchen is exactly the same size as ours :) It can be a challenge with more than one person working in there. We purchased IKEA kitchen cabinets and they fit perfectly. We created a U shape and upper cabinets all the way up to the ceiling for extra storage. We managed to fit full size stove, micro, fridge and 18" dishwasher! Kitchen includes set of 4 drawers, lower corner cabinet with carousel, upper corner cabinet, more than enough room for everything we need (we are pretty minimal). We don't have a washer/dryer in the kitchen tho. Really enjoying your content...thank you for sharing ⭐

Hi from sunny Melbourne Australia. Best advice I’ve ever been given while fixing up my miners cottage on a budget. Get rid of the cooker! Put in a portable induction cook top, build in a wall mounted microwave/airfryer/toaster griller. Frees up so much bench space xxx

We remodeled our 1940’s beach cabin last year. 350 square feet. Different layout than your place but some of the same original stuff, vaulted ceiling, tongue and groove cedar. I ended up doing black floors, black windows, black molding and soft white walls. White bottom cabinets and open shelving instead of upper cabinets. Painted the outside white white. Whatever you end up with will be amazing and I can’t wait to see it.

I grew up with a summer cabin very similar to yours. I would suggest open shelving above, an apartment size stove would be ideal and a much smaller size fridge.. A washer dryer combo would also save space. smaller appliances and maybe putting a fold down countertop under the window would provide a spot to eat at and prep.. You are going to love the cabin. Congratulations

What we did when we reorganized our kitchen was to draw out the space, draw out the appliances and cabinets on another paper so you could move them around. Then you can narrow down your options and find one you really like. Then we got some painters tape and laid it out in the kitchen before we bought anything. I would get a piece of granite and some light colored cabinets.

I’ve been looking forward to this😊Could you manage with a washer drier combo in one machine, and a small under counter fridge. It’s very European. That frees up plenty of counter space over them. Just a thought.

Husband and I re did our kitchen. We took everything that was old, dark and worn out of the kitchen. We replace the cabinets with white cabinets and husband painting around the doors with black lacquer paint. With your space my opinion is maybe take out the old cabinets and down size on the fridge. Add some paint, curtains, new cabinets, nice light fixture and a few shelves on the walls. Good luck Selena and Pete. I remember the days taking the old carpet and cabinets out. So much work and fun at the same time. Have fun and enjoy these great times together. By the way, I don't have Telegram. Sorry. I am loving the new series. Millie looks so cute.

What if you bought a refrigerator that fits under the counter? Stackable washer/ dryer maybe? They make some really nice things for RV’s that may work in such a small space including washers and dryers! You could gain more room by putting the burners on top of the countertop, you know like a drop in type of cooktop. If you end up with extra space you could do a wall oven or a convection oven build into the counter space. So basically, I would use countertops to my advantage and put them around the whole kitchen like a big “C”and put what I could under the counters. I hope that makes sense and it would vibe with the age and style of the house. You could get some blue and white nautical type colors to go with the beach theme. White countertop with a very dark navy blue on the bottom and subway tiles on the walls. Maybe some plantation shutters to help make the home really stand out. I would imagine I would use paint throughout the house that is made for homes near the water to prevent damage by the elements. Oh! I think French doors would look so nice in the bedroom! It’s going to look amazing regardless of your choices because you have amazing taste! Enjoy your new home and renovation ❤

Apartment size appliances, open shelving above lower full cabinets will give a larger airy appearance. Small island with storage on wheels. That will provide you with extra surface space that you can move out of the way if needed. You could get a sink cover to use as a cutting board or for extra counter space when needed. You could hang something on the wall with hinges that you can raise and lower when you need extra counter space.

Just had another idea for the kitchen! Take the current space and turn it into a laundry area. You can bath Mili in the sink . You’d have plenty of cupboard storage. Then take the living area and put your kitchen at one end with an island and a comfy seating area at the other end with a fireplace . An open concept idea. Like a lot of houses are styled now. It would look amazing!

What about putting the sink under the other window….(the wall that you moved the stove to) Get a smaller stove…AND use the back wall for the stove on one side and a washer/dryer stackable on the other side….and just counter top and cabinets where the current sink is between those two appliances…. Use narrower cabinets on either side of the sink…so you have a few inches more between that wall and the fridge…OR…watch some “tiny home” videos….for additional ideas for tiny spaces… happy for you….what fun to be doing this together….

Oh your intro to this video is so beautiful. This video made me nostalgic of all the DIY my husband and I did in the six houses we owned over the years. Yes we moved quite a bit. Each was a home for our family. Our last home was a craftsman style bungalow built in 1906. We completely remodeled the kitchen and bathroom. First time in my life I could choose custom cabinets. We had help designing the new layout of the kitchen. I’m very glad we did because i had no idea what to do. We chose between three separate designs. The cabinets had pull out shelves, a lazy Susan style corner cabinet that offers a lot of storage. The pull out cabinet shelves were a blessing. Also added under cabinet lighting. Congratulation on your beach cabin. Wishing you all the best on your new adventure.

Hi we have redone 12 kitchens and I would put in smaller appliances built in oven and smaller hot plate on your bench top, and I would do what some one else has suggested a small dresser to put all your plates and other items. Next to your table, and a corner bench seat with storage under the seats. And hooks under your kitchen cupboards to hang your Utensils and a magnet knife strip, you can put other things in your draws. Rember that your by the cost metal stuff will rust, keep to stainless steel everything, nails screws, outside. We found this out. We have a house on the coast and it has been an eye opener. But we love it and can wait to go back to the beach again. it makes you feel lifted up. Good luck with your house, you are going have so much fun. Love your videos From country Victoria Australia

I have no idea on how to do this kitchen other than the triangle idea, but you'll come up with a great plan and it's going to be beautiful!!

How fun! The cabin looks so much better already. I know you and Pete will make it amazing. Please be careful when you tackle the green flooring - older linoleum can sometimes have asbestos in it.

Floating wall shelves right of the sink, could even wrap around to the stove if you choose to leave it in that spot. Also, Congratulations you guys. How fun! 😊

Hello!!! I love this tiny cabin near the beach!! What a great getaway home! Kitchen design is expensive if you don't know what to do. Keep the appliances and plumbing in place and work with the basic footprint if you want to save money. To move that stove you would need an electrician to install a new outlet and that is more money. Id suggest making the bottom cabinets turn the corner and run under the window. If you get an all in one washer/dryer you can build it in under the counter that would go under the window and have an entire counter plus a few new cabinets that increase your work and storage space PLUS the added benefit of the laundry only being one machine. They're a little pricey, but cost less than a large washer and dryer or stackable. Just a thought to consider. Love seeing your progress. Can't wait to see more!

Can you do like a buffet/prep space in the dining area with plugs. I have a microwave that is an air fryer, and I can bake in it right on the counter. Also the window is an awesome pass through/bar area. you have loads of potential.

My family had a cabin in Washington St. and there was a project every weekend. I feel your pain, great memories though. We always had time for fun and a campfire every night. Enjoy and document your time and work. Keep a jar of biofreeze by your night stand :)

Make sure you take your kitchen cabinets up to the ceiling. I would definitely try and finish a small area in the basement for the washer and dryer. The clothes don't need to hang out down there...just get washed and dried. I can't say enough about lazy susans - double decker. And Amazon has all kinds of great pull outs and storage organizers for the kitchen. Definitely a shallow fridge as you planned. You can always use coolers if you need extra fridge space. I really feel if you can put the washer and dryer in the basement it will give you so much more space and open things up. It is going to be so cozy and charming when you get done...but the washer and drier need to find another space if you want it to be cozy and charming. Great job you guys!

You could use part of the dining area for the kitchen. Agree with getting a hutch for storage of dishes and silverware. Small appliances are a must! Stacked washer and dryer will save space.

Under counter fridge …I have a similar tiny kitchen….life changing, as well as the new two in one ventless washer dryer combos, perfect for this design. It’s the cottage after all. So much fun figuring out where everything goes. Enjoy!

Take measurements of the kitchen and go to H D or Lowes and have it floor planned. You also need to be mindful of where electric and water sources are for appliances. As others have said, there are small scale appliance options. They might be more expensive but long term you will appreciate those purchases. Enjoy!
