Totally digging the attention to detail in straightening out each and every stud. Even though, as you admit, not 100% necessary for effectiveness. That's definitely a detail you'll be proud to claim later. I can't stop Binge Watching your series!

Bro, I have watched a ton of tiny house shows on YT etc, and yours has been truly the most helpful one I found, I like the fact that you keep it to code. I plan on building one myself. So far found the series and been watching straight through mostly, but after vid 22 it shows private video. Is that the rest of the build? would really love to see the rest of it. Has it been finished? Thanks. Edit : I did notice that this is kinda recent but was just wondering if those were place holders or if the series is done.. anyway, rambling, thanks man

i am not discrediting you , your doing a quality job , however i have been frameing in the past 40 years mainly in western oregon , cdx seperates in wet conditions causeing big bubbles in the plywood , osb does swell like you said , all in all osb does better here , my complaint of osb is when it gets wet the edges swell more the rhe rest of the brd creating a hump in the wall every 4 feet that shows up in sideing , if cdx could be gauranteed not to seperate then i would agree with you but it has been an ongoing problem in winter here in western oregon

Hi Dan. Thanks so much for the wisdom in the video. I am building a house on a heavy duty trailer. The subfloor frame I built to put the floor sheathing on is not a perfect square. Should I make the AdvanTech sheathing square with the trailer or square with the deck I built on top of the trailer?
@ismu348 жыл бұрын
My boss never checked the studs, just yelled at us to "getr done",usually they were bowed and when we nailed the sheathing on half the nails would miss

Damn, I got the 1800 Tequila commercial this time and hate skipping them on your channel. At least it is the Michael Kenneth Williams version. The Ray Liotta one makes we want to scream. "I touched a woman's heart" - that's BS...

is any of your lumber treated? i'm gonna be building soon and was wondering what would be best to use. i know treated lumber is whole lot more expensive and i'm sure if it will be worth it. I live in south Louisiana which is super humid. what do you think would be the best option?

Hello! I am about to raise my walls but before I do so I am going to sheath them. I was curious I have about 7 people including myself coming to help raise them after they are sheathed. Do you have any recommendations since I won't be using jacks?

man! I love your videos, great for building advise too! you should add a ton of tags on your video, i see you have non and its why it took me a year to stumble across yours, defiantly add some tags to get more views!!

Skram I always draw a blank when it comes to tags. If you type in "Tiny House" you'll find my videos and thats what a majority of my content is about. "Tiny House" is a permanent tag associated with my channel. so if i post a video of me snowboarding it'll show up in the tiny house search.

One problem: Metric. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!! yeah, i use metric. (っ˘̩╭╮˘̩)っ Love the way you talk to Peanut, and all the fun crap. I feel the small frustration of not being noticed on YT, maybe you should take part of places like /r/TinyHouses (if ur not allready) or contact Kristen Dirksen to see if she, or her fans like the channel. not to promote shitposting or spamming your crap everywhere tho.. This channel is the bomb doe, and even if you don't have a multimillion subscriber base or viewers, i'm pretty shure this channel will grow pretty big at some point, and you will get big money, big fun, and big women. heck yus.
@TinyHouseCustoms9 жыл бұрын
MusFuzZ i talked about the metric system in one of my video's but it got cut out cause it kinda got rant ish. but measurements are measurements. i should start using pinky measurements so everyone is confused.

Good video! Any reason not to have fire stop/blocking spacers between the studs? PS - You'll get more views once more people notice the project. They like to binge watch these things.

Fire stop in a tiny house.. If this b$&@% lights up, it's gone. No real need for them. But something I typically add after the walls are up. 👍
@johncnorris9 жыл бұрын
Tiny House Customs LMAO, I hope you make one of the 'wolf sleeping den' windows an emergency exit so you can bail out if it gets hot. The thought about the fire stop came when you were adjusting the studs. I think code requires them in a house with walls taller than 10 feet. Not really needed for that here.
@rabbytca9 жыл бұрын
John Norris Fire stops are to hinder fire from traveling inside the wall cavity past the floor/ceiling joists to the next floor. The floor joist assembly with a gypsum board ceiling to the underside is a rated fire barrier when assembled correctly. In old balloon framing systems without fire stopping blocks a fire which starts or gets into the wall cavity essentially bypasses the fire rated floor/ceiling. So, without the floor assembly, open lofts and balconies don't count, the main purpose for blocking is to attach your toilet paper roll. Well not quite there are other purposes too.

What size ring shanks did you use? When I redid a garage, I used Senco 2 3/8" hot dipped ring shanks. That sucker is going to outlive me.
You go as ape shit with nails as I do. When I pulled the carpet out of the last house on the second floor, I could not find the squeak. I dumped 600 ring shanks in the floor only to find out it was the wall flexing.

***** there cheap compared to a failure later. just hope you nail it right the first time cause your screwed if it needs to come apart. plus with PL glue its not going anywhere
@JoeFeser9 жыл бұрын

You really don't need to mark out the windows. Use a flush cut router bit and you'll find it's way more faster and accurate.
@TinyHouseCustoms8 жыл бұрын
Come on.. Go get a drill.. Then get a router.. Set the router up. Burn the shit out of the blade. And do it even slower. Or grab the saw that right at your feet, snap four lines and cut it. I think your forgetting there's 20 different ways of doing the same thing. My series is showing how I did what I did.
@JimWatsonTheframingMagician8 жыл бұрын
+Tiny House Your a very good framer as you and I know. Get a drill for what? Take your hammer and bash a hole in the plywood for a starting point for your router. We don't need to be delicate here. "grab the saw that right at your feet, snap four lines and cut it." In your video your leaving the windows to cut out later. "at your feet" doesn't apply here. Using a router to cut out the window off of a ladder after the wall is up is far easier than doing it with a circular saw. By centrifugal force the router bit follows the path of the frame thereby eliminating any inaccuracies. This is what any speed framer does and what almost all professional rock hangers do.
@Grizz2708 жыл бұрын
+Tiny House Customs jims right , your just not familiar with the flush cutting bit for the router it has its own pilot drill no seperat tool needed
@Grizz2708 жыл бұрын
+Tiny House Customs check this bit out it is self drilling as well as flush cutting its wourth trying out , i understand why grab another tool when you have a skillsaw well i thought that way 40 years ago about nail guns when i had a hammer
rather have the plywood on the inside and just use a windbarrier on outside then paneling

I like laying horizontal plywood because it provides a little extra structural strength. Think of the extreme case where you put a 16" sheet vertically 8' up across two studs. That's not going to provide much protection against racking compared to a 8' horizontal sheet that spans seven sheets. Of course, a 4' vertical sheet will span four sheets and provide some racking protection, but not as much as one that spans seven sheets.
