All these small inflators are equally excruciatingly slow. Next time you go missing at work for 45 mins, just tell the boss man you were airing up the customers tires :p
@graealex2 жыл бұрын
Slow and shit unfortunately. From the sound you can always hear that it is basically the same construction and compressor, just in a different case. At least this one doesn't just have only a single button that shares control between flash light, power and start. The most notable feature of them is their self-discharge rate, so they always have a flat battery when you actually need them.

I have a small 12 volt inflator that does not have its own battery in it that takes about 10-12 minutes to pump up a 16 inch minivan tire to 40PSI. I guess that isn't bad although since the tire is a little larger than the one in this video the tested inflator would probably die before it finished one of my tires (and it should have been tested to 40PSI in the test tire, that is usually the sidewall recommended pressure for such a tire and vehicle sticker tire pressure is only good for the tires that originally come with the car). For the record my larger AC inflator (which is at least 35 years old) can pump up the same minivan tire in about three to four minutes, I would guess that a fully featured air compressor like what a service garage would have takes about a minute to a minute and a half.

Jim is so full of hot air!!! Great review of a tool which can be a lifesaver in emergencies. Small package to keep in vehicle and won’t take up much room. Thanks
@graealex2 жыл бұрын
"2 bars out of 4 left is half the battery" - no, it means you have about five minutes left until the battery gives out. The motor of the compressor puts such a huge strain on the battery regarding amps, that you won't be able to run it when the battery is about two thirds discharged. And the higher the pressure inside the tire already is, the more torque is required for the motor to turn. You should just have run it again with the tire empty and see how far it got.

You need to test it on a vehicle as the weight of the vehicle will stress the compressor more.

Tbh I'm impressed it made it to 30 (29) for a small car it would work. My money would go into a tool brand tire inflator. For the size and the price it's not bad.

i had a look at the amazon details on this. says it has double cylinders and a cooling fan so it dosent have that standard "run for 10 minute and rest for 20 minutes" like alot of standard pumps, pretty good. price though, even with a discount amazon showed me $63, still seems quite a bit pricey to me. nice review of it though.

Hi Jim! Great review. Thanks for taking the time to do a good test. I have a question on this thing: when deflating, does it show the PSI? It might be handy for off-reading where you need to air down the tires a bit.
@PhillyFixed2 жыл бұрын
Yup, it does! The deflate button is just a mechanical release so the display will stay on while you use it.

How do you like that hart inflator?
@PhillyFixed2 жыл бұрын
I keep it in my Mazda 3 "just in case." I had the TPMS light come on with the weather getting colder, topped of the tires no problem. Overall, a good buy if you can get it cheap. I picked it up last year when they were doing $99 bundles with 2x 4aH batts, charger and tool, and ended up returning the batts/charger and keeping the tool for like $25.

I really like the harbor freight one with the metal body, its small and works really well. I dont get the point of a rechargeable battery when you literally have a 12v outlet in all vehicles.
@rpavlik12 жыл бұрын
The cable would be larger than the whole battery powered device...
@graealex2 жыл бұрын
@@rpavlik1 So? The battery in these small devices will always be flat when you need it. While your car battery will usually have juice, plus you can let the engine run. I once bought such a small compressor, and chugged it in the bin the first time I actually had to use it, which was fortunately only for a bicycle tire.
@mharris50472 жыл бұрын
@@graealex I used to keep a cheap $9 tire inflator in my vehicles. They bailed me out of a couple of jams but about 30% of the time they burned out before I could fully inflate two tires. Harbor Freight still sells one for about that price but they tell people it is not for car or truck tires (so what do you use it on -- a bicycle or a football).
@graealex2 жыл бұрын
@@mharris5047 Okay, obviously it can't be a completely garbage one either. But I rather spend money on a compressor that hooks up to the car battery, because then a) you are not wasting your money on yet another battery, and b) a non-existent battery can never be empty.
