I have the quick eject impact and only have the stacked batteries. I feel like the slowest speed when feathering the trigger has too much torque for driving standard screws, it kinda likes to destroy bits. Anyone else experienced this and would a non stacked battery solve this?

i'm interested why you say you wouldn't/shouldn't use an impact driver for loosening stuck or tight bolts? I work on bikes and in the past I've had to use an impact driver to loosen the bottom bracket cups and it works pretty well. Granted they probably weren't tightened to 400flbs of torque but it's something that i couldn't loosen by hand with a regular ratchet.

I specifically mean large nuts/bolts like car lug nuts and up. Smaller fasteners are a great application, though.

This was amazing, can tell a lot of work went in to it. However, the biggest decision on picking one is if your a fanboy and what color you like, LOL! I had a Hercules and it failed after busting two nuts on a rear bumper. Nothing torqued to any crazy spec. Herc also has a strong spring, hard to adjust speed from slow to fast. Ended up going XTR after some deals at Lowes. I like the XTR better despite missing some creature comforts. Lowes deals were too good to pass up.

This presentation introduces yet another proprietary battery platform, which seems like a reinvention of the wheel rather than a practical solution to the issue of proprietary systems. While the technology may be well-executed and feature good-quality components, the underlying approach adds another layer of complexity instead of addressing the core problem. What we truly need is a simple, cost-effective adapter pack for all major brands that can be manufactured at scale - think a universal plastic converter with reconfigured contact points. This would break the proprietary system by adapting to it rather than replacing it with another proprietary model. Such an adapter could be produced inexpensively, potentially in China, for as little as $1 each, making it accessible to a wider market and solving the interoperability problem without introducing a new standard. In essence, the focus should shift from creating new proprietary platforms to innovating ways to bridge existing ones, enabling seamless compatibility and reducing waste and cost for users.

Really enjoyed this video. I have a suggestion for the automated test where you have the tool tied down. I like the idea, but i think you need to level the head of the tool to be perpendicular with the surface youre screwing into. The Milwaukee, dewalt, and flex all do this naturally because their base plate is roughly parallel to the head, so they stand with their rotating axis perpendicular to the surface theyre drilling into when not held by hand. And they all ended up at the top of the results of that test. If you look at the ridgid for example in that test but also several other brand which are lower, the screw is pointed on an angle. I believe this might be why as you said in the video, the ridgid and Hercules fell behind in this test.
@PhillyFixed5 күн бұрын
Technically I agree that the transferred impacting force should be reduced if the fastener head isn't seated in the nut driver bit fully. In practice, though, I did mess around with shimming the base of the tool a bit, but the results didn't seem to change. I'll try to get it parallel on future tests. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@Trickster_244 күн бұрын
@PhillyFixed thanks for taking time to consider the concern. I'm still in my schooling so take everything I say with a grain of salt. My main concerns are first, The force being put on the tool not being perpendicular to the path of the screw. This is a minor concern, if you're at a 20° angle the resulting force in the direction of the screw is still about 94% of the intended force. This shouldn't be a big deal since pushing on the back of an impact driver will make little to no difference on it's effectiveness. But my second concern would be the resistance of the material being screwed into. It's harder to drill through wood at an angle. I don't know why but that's my current understanding. I have no idea how much extra resistance that may or may not add

Every time I did need it something wouldn't work properly after ward, first the inflator and then the jumper. The USB charge and AC still work fine. Jim, and/or any other viewers who might know... does the size of the nut used on the nut busting test affect how tight the nut is given the measurement of how much torque was applied? For example, if you have a 3/4" nut torqued with a torque wrench to 100ft/lbs vs a 1-1/2" nut torqued to 100ft/lbs, would the impact wrench need more power/time for one of them or should both nuts require the same amount of power/time to loosen? I ask because my SUV lugs are 3/4" and the specs say torque them to 90ft/lbs. I have the Makita XDT14 with a 5ah battery (rarely used because I use 12v tools more often) and it can't loosen those nuts even if I give it 15 secs. I was disappointed because I've seen several vids from different KZbinrs who showed that it could easily do at least 100ft/lbs. But the KZbinrs all use a larger nut/bolt than what's on my wheels. I even bought the Hyper Tough 20v compact impact wrench which was touted to be surprisingly powerful by Torque Test Channel and Shop Tool Reviews, and that had trouble loosening my 90ft/lb tightened lug nuts and needed 7 or 8 seconds before it could turn the nut. And my lug nuts aren't rusted because I do rotate my tires every 6 months (I loosen them with a breaker bar). The only thing I could figure is that 90ft/lbs of torque applied to a 3/4" nut is going to tighten it a lot more than the same ft/lbs applied to a 1-1/2" nut. But I have no idea if that's right.

I have been using this unit quite a bit since purchase actually. Power went out a couple times here in the city and when that happened I was easily able to plug in my pc and phone to charge while I did what I had to. Also, I tried to plug in a vacuum into it so I could clean my car recently, there it did not work. Would start and then shut off. To much power required I guess. I have jump started multiple cars and also have used the check alternator and tire inflation features and they both work absolutely fine, usb hardly gets used but that’s because everything is usb c now so that feature is almost useless on this unit, but I think there’s an upgraded version of this unit if my memory serves me right. About the same price, same model number, just now called “DXAEPS14 Type-2” Only complaint I have about the type 1 unit is the burning smell I get sometimes, when in use, a slight burning plastic scent lingers. Kind of like when you use a new appliance for the first time, that smell. All that said…ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND! Ps, I read in the manual that you have to charge to full once a month.
