It’s amazing to think of those in history that travelled Trent before you. Now you’re part of that history.

They really are! We watched them when we were planning this boat life whilst still living in Texas, and then became virtual friends, and then finally became real life friends. It was a wonderful summer leap frogging them all the way down to Boston, Lincolnshire and back 😊

Wow, what an intro! 🙂 After you started cruising the Trent, I hope the folks in that apartment/condo complex appreciated that they were looking at such a famous Narrowboater out on the water. 🙂 Absolutely stunning and gorgeous videos of the cruise, and of the explanation of the lock transits. What beautiful country you live in. ah, I box trained my dog to a litter box, so much easier! Male and female dogs can be so trained, just saying. 🙂

I rewatched the intro Ann, as this was a while ago, and laughed all over again at the memory of Pete finding that done up bra wrapped around our propeller! I never knew you could train dogs to a litter box! That would be a good solution on the rivers when you can't just stop when they need to go! 😊

Lovely video. This one is truly different with the River Trent, opposed to the canals. Those locks intimidate me, just watching. That huge one was down right scary. Some adventures are better when shared. I love seeing the wild fowl and the pasture life. Safe travels.

The River Trent certainly was a different experience for us Shirley! We were so thankful to be sharing that first huge lock with friends who had done it before, and really, after that first one, it was far less intimidating when we knew how easy it was! Thanks for watching 😊

PFD = Personal Floatation Device as the technical name, otherwise known as a Life Preserver also as a technically correct term, but commonly known as a Life Jacket, so you were perfectly correct in calling it a Life Preserver.

Enjoy your vlogs and the river trent, I'm a Nottingham born man and remember mum and dad taking us as children to Hovingham that's where we did some fishing on the river, a pub close by had people doing water skiing and having a barge going past every now and then caused the river to change level due to the shape of the barge, all very interesting and something to remember. xxx

@onedaymoreaboard Жыл бұрын
You guys know only too well how fainted you are by some things, and then after you’ve done them it’s not such a big deal after all! Those huge locks come in that category! Give me an automated lock over a windlass anyway, except when the automation fails and you’re stuck with no lock keeper 😂 Yep, that happens in an upcoming vlog. We can highly recommend the Trent. It’s wide and just beautiful, especially in the lovely weather we had this summer 😊

@onedaymoreaboard Жыл бұрын
This was early July Kathy, and was quite empty then, but you’ll see in upcoming vlogs that it’s gets busier, with no space on some moorings, and a few rapidly changed plans! We had such a great time cruising with Fran and Rich. New waters for both of us 😊

Lovely trip, I've put Nottingham on the destination list but might be a little too far for me. You should do the Severn Locks, automated and bigger!!
@onedaymoreaboard Жыл бұрын
We were talking about the Severn last night! That first lock was so daunting, but glad we had the experts with us! Now we are not as intimated by those monsters! And definitely add Nottingham and Newark into your list 😊

Foot Loose seemed huge compared to your friends narrow boat!
@onedaymoreaboard Жыл бұрын
Yes Lawrence, the widebeam boats are twice the width of narrowboats, typically 12ft wide. We saw quite a few on river as there is no danger of them not fitting through the locks! 😊
@lindakazel4273 Жыл бұрын
The Trent and its very high and somewhat intimidating automated locks remind me of our boating times on New York State’s Barge Canal. The very first time was the scariest! Another fascinating video and I thank you for sharing.
