how are you my friends! :•)
this vlog was during the weeks of transition from september into october. some fun moments i want to share with you, like finally getting that nose piercing, a visit from my sister, and my first time seeing the sunrise in the city. Being surrounded by tall buildings, it's hard to ever see the sun! now that i have those timelapse shots of NY from above, i will make some sitcom-themed intro in one of my future vlogs where it begins with a zoomed out shot of the city skyline xD hehehe...

It makes me so happy seeing you take on these “negatives” of studio apartments and taking them on as challenges. As opportunities for you to make a home despite them instead of just being bummed out. A lot of my friends that moved to NYC (we live in the country, with lots of land, and fresh air) and they said that was the biggest struggle they had. That it’d mess with their mental health A LOT. I was worried about that for you too as you’re such a free, wandering spirit and NYC can often feel much smaller than it is. Like sardines in a can! Lol! But we are stronger than our circumstances, right?! Anyways, my point is that I love watching you flourish and grow in your new space. Thanks for always sharing with us! 💕💕💕

Honestly just a pothos plant is good for not direct sunlight, I’ve had mine for like 2 years and it’s still growing without a lot of sunlight and minimal water

Oh! For plants, I would highly recommend a good grow light (GE carries some really great, no heat lights) and an aluminum clamp reflector. I’ve lived in an apartment without direct sunlight for years and this light has saved my poor sun-loving succulents from stretching out and dying.

A pothos vine will work so well on your top floating shelf! They're super easy to take care of and grow v fast with indirect light and watering once a week! They'll drape very nicely and have a less manicured look : ) loving all ur NYC vlogs!!

Regarding the plant lighting situation, worst case scenario, you can get some simple grow lights on Amazon. But most tropical plants can tolerate indirect bright light well. I sure it will be find ;)

You can compensate the lack of sun light by buying some gardening nursery lights for your plants that need more light. I know it to be more used to start seedlings, but your plants will grow just fine.

Hi Annabelle! Swiss cheese plants are the cutest and don’t need a lot of light!🌿 They also like to drape down! I’ve had my Swiss cheese plant for 3 years now and she has survived through two moves!✨

Snake plants and pothos are great. A snake plant grows with little to no care, I literally water that thing less than once a week maybe once every two weeks and it thrives in my room with no direct sunlight. Pothos are great as well, viney and they would be great to put on the top shelf because it has that little bit of light from that window and would grow to hang down like a nice little vine, super easy to care for! Also a spider plant does decent in low light but its a bit more troublesome to manage but still easy

i have tons of plants in my tiny inner corner apartment with no light so i understand missing direct light!! plenty of plants do well with low light like monsteras, aralias (i have a ming aralia that is doing amazing with low light!) as well as philodendrons but if u need extra light or want to encourage growth get a grow light and a small usb humidifier if needed! amazon has some great ones but if u ever have doubts head to ur local plant shop and ask for some recommendations! i recommend those over big box stores since the likelihood of the plants have root rot, pest or bad soil is next to none!

regarding the plant I can also recommend rhipsalis cassutha. I have one hanging on a north facing window and she is thriving! great thing about them is that they don't need much water so they are really easy!

I would recommend a ZZ plant but that is toxic to cats and can cause them to vomit. For a long drapey plant for that shelf i'd recommend a philodendron! Super easy!

I also live in an apartment with low light/no direct sun but i bought a plant lamp! I got it when I used to shop on amazon for 20 bucks but Ive seen them at local plant shops too (: helps them grow pretty fast, just be careful to make sure theyre well watered and gradually use the lamp since they arent used to it at the start.

I think best thing to do is find out in what directions you’re getting light, as that will determine more specifically what kind of plants are suitable. As for plants that prefer dim lighting in general; Calathea, ferns, prayer plants…

pothos, zz, and peace lilies have all worked for me in low light! Peace lilies are a little finicky though so I'd suggest buying a small plant for a little less rather than a big one

There is a plant called " the bad mother" aka "the spider plant" that does well in dim and indirect light and drapes well.

heads up for your piercing ( I have 4 body piercings) Water is the best healer! just rinse it daily, whether in the shower or in the sink, and rotate it in circles and in and out for a few second while water is running over it.
