The coolest thing about this video is that room looks like it is EXACTLY the size and shape of the room I'm currently setting up as a studio. I haven't really measured it, but it looks pretty close. I'm actually a musician and used that room years ago for some demo recordings for my band (mostly just vocals and some guitar stuff with one of my smaller amps; too small for a whole drum set or a whole band, of course. I have a bigger room next to the small one for that). But I just had some d.i.y. panels leaning against the walls in there. We were just a grungy punk rock band, so we weren't really trying for studio level, radio-friendly recordings. But now I'm looking to do some video work for a channel of my own. I was impressed how good the audio was in your video using relatively little sound treatment (especially considering you've got bare, hardwood floors, I've actually got some of that very thin carpet in mine). That makes me confident with what I've got to work with. I also didn't figure I'd need that much sound treatment for such a small room; but it's good to see an example of what a room that looks very similar to mine can sound like. As I said before, I've recorded audio, but never any video in there. I've recorded and edited a lot of video in the past, but it was mostly live performance stuff at different music venues. And some promo videos, and a few videos we'd sometimes project on a screen as part of our shows. I am also an animator, so tend to do a lot of animation in my videos. So that means I don't really have much experience using any kind of lighting. I've pretty much just filmed things as is, especially at the different bars and clubs my different bands have played in. Not too much you can do about lighting in those situations without it being a big and most likely intrusive hassle. Just got a cheap softbox light from Amazon today in fact. Was gonna try that as a "key light" I think. Got another LED video camera light I can use to. Will see how that works. Really just starting to learn about all that, so any little bit of advice and/or product suggestions I can get from videos like this is very helpful. 🙂

Really glad you found the video helpful! There really is a lot you can achieve with little things. For sound, just having the mic close to you really helps with the quality and minimizing "room noise". And for lighting, it's good to experiment a bit with what works. But sound and light and probably the key things what make a video nicer! Good luck with your setup! 👍

This was phenomenally inspirational to those of us living in apartments on budgets. So many home KZbin studio tutorials quickly devolve into "here's what you can do if you have a spare 200-square-foot room and extra $5K just lying around." Thank you for making this video.

@@SightseeingStan Whoever you are, I don't know you personally but I can say that you're one of the non-judgmental and open-minded people who is not fixated on tangible or external factors in order to learn from someone like me. Just because someone doesn't have a piece of paper as a credential, doesn't mean that person is not entitled to share personal experiences with the hope & intention to inspire others. Keep up with whatever it is that you're doing to improve mankind or improving your life even to a slight degree each day. This is just one part of a bigger puzzle for creating my KZbin channel about holistic health. I literally could have died back when I was 14 years old due to major depression but here I am right now replying to you, a KZbinr, who's full of fulfillment and dedication to help others to be a better version of themselves. Great work my brother! Proves you don't need a massive space for a functional studio. I have a decent-sized space, but it is geared mainly toward audio recording and mixing. I'm in the process of changing up the space for a photography/video setup. I'm genuinely blown away by the functionality of your space. Your channel deserves at least 500k subs. I'm sure we'll see you get there! Peace and blessings.

Only 1 suggestion, just drill a large enough hole in the back of the drawer cabinet to get the power strip cable through, and you can run it from the back instead of the front. I've done this on a couple of drawer setups for the same reason. I'm amazed how functional this is and gives me a lot of ideas for things I've been lamenting on. Thanks for the info.

Great setup! I have a slightly bigger (not much) space and you have given me a lot of ideas. I really like the multi-arm monitor mount. I have several things scattered on my desk and two tripods - one for a light and the other for the camera, so getting all of this and the mic on a single stand would be a huge leap forward for me. Plus it would also reduce the barrier of setting everything up and to actually do some recording.

I have one of the included ball heads on that mount and then a "lighting spigot" screwed onto the ball head. That fits the Neewer light. You can find these lighting spigots pretty cheap on Amazon for example. I would however recommend upgrading the ball head, because the one included in the Viozon set is not very good. What I like about this video is you don’t spend a lot of money when you don’t need to. All I see in this kind of videos is 100+ or even more keyboard and mouse when I’m 100% sure half this people don’t use the “advanced functionality” they offer and it’s just because it is the “standard youtuber convo” (some keychrone keyboard and the logitech master mouse). I think a small hole in the back of the charging drawer should be easy to do and way more aesthetically pleasing

Great information! I'm staring at blank walls, two crappy desktops from IKEA built at the end of building too many other iKEA things; I didn't care, I wanted the job DONE. I can see a lot of your setup working their way into my space. If anything looks familiar when I get rolling, consider that as the highest form of flattery. I had been thinking of using the kitchen broom as my first boom. I could see the gaffer tape giving out mid-take, flying down, via the top of my head, some heavy feedback from the protests of the microphone and a string of words I learned, not in church, but in the parking lot of the church. First take for the blooper reel. Again, great work! Thanks for the tips, links, and discount!!🤟🏼🖖🏼

This was really helpful to me. I want to start doing more KZbin videos, but I’m moving from my house with a big studio to go live with my sister back in the USA for awhile. I’ve been worried that it’s not going to be possible to have a KZbin setup not having my big studio. This gives me hope that I can figure out something in her house that will work. No excuses! 😉

Your setup is like a nice breath of fresh air so to speak. The other studio setup with overkill expensive gears is so annoying for me. Thanks for this mate.

Thanks. That was a fantastic look at your studio. And some great tips. I work on a really small space too and so I fully understand where you are coming from.

I came up with a similar solution with my small YT studio, but I built it in my garage splitting the space on two rooms. Very good video. Take care.

I think for the drawer charger... mayne itd look alot better just cutting a small mousehole in the back that way you got your strip and functionality while being more appealing

I learned the hard way that from now on, it's best if I use command damage-free wall hanging strips.
