The coolest thing about this video is that room looks like it is EXACTLY the size and shape of the room I'm currently setting up as a studio. I haven't really measured it, but it looks pretty close. I'm actually a musician and used that room years ago for some demo recordings for my band (mostly just vocals and some guitar stuff with one of my smaller amps; too small for a whole drum set or a whole band, of course. I have a bigger room next to the small one for that). But I just had some d.i.y. panels leaning against the walls in there. We were just a grungy punk rock band, so we weren't really trying for studio level, radio-friendly recordings. But now I'm looking to do some video work for a channel of my own. I was impressed how good the audio was in your video using relatively little sound treatment (especially considering you've got bare, hardwood floors, I've actually got some of that very thin carpet in mine). That makes me confident with what I've got to work with. I also didn't figure I'd need that much sound treatment for such a small room; but it's good to see an example of what a room that looks very similar to mine can sound like. As I said before, I've recorded audio, but never any video in there. I've recorded and edited a lot of video in the past, but it was mostly live performance stuff at different music venues. And some promo videos, and a few videos we'd sometimes project on a screen as part of our shows. I am also an animator, so tend to do a lot of animation in my videos. So that means I don't really have much experience using any kind of lighting. I've pretty much just filmed things as is, especially at the different bars and clubs my different bands have played in. Not too much you can do about lighting in those situations without it being a big and most likely intrusive hassle. Just got a cheap softbox light from Amazon today in fact. Was gonna try that as a "key light" I think. Got another LED video camera light I can use to. Will see how that works. Really just starting to learn about all that, so any little bit of advice and/or product suggestions I can get from videos like this is very helpful. 🙂
@SightseeingStan Жыл бұрын
Really glad you found the video helpful! There really is a lot you can achieve with little things. For sound, just having the mic close to you really helps with the quality and minimizing "room noise". And for lighting, it's good to experiment a bit with what works. But sound and light and probably the key things what make a video nicer! Good luck with your setup! 👍

I have several things scattered on my desk and two tripods - one for a light and the other for the camera, so getting all of this and the mic on a single stand would be a huge leap forward for me. I have one of the included ball heads on that mount and then a "lighting spigot" screwed onto the ball head. That fits the Neewer light. What I like about this video is you don’t spend a lot of money when you don’t need to. All I see in this kind of videos is 100+ or even more keyboard and mouse when I’m 100% sure half this people don’t use the “advanced functionality” they offer and it’s just because it is the “standard youtuber convo” (some keychrone keyboard and the logitech master mouse).
