Thank you for this!! I’ve been doing research about lighting for over a month now and ended up in a rabbit hole of items to buy. You hit the mark in answering all my questions! Can you link the products? Like umbrella size and the equipment you used? I want to take senior portraits for my daughter, rather than outsourcing it. Much love to my Icelandic brother!

Ok that eye light and the mist filter for talking head shots somehow blew my mind! :D Thanks as always for sharing my friend :) I still have a very basic lighting setup: one light and one shower curtain. Have to setup every time when I want to shoot at my kitchen table, but with two small kids I don't have space for a permanent shooting space, so I do my best to get these videos out with what I have. But I will definitely try your mist filter tip!

You said your key light is at 5500k but you didn’t share what your backlight is set to or your fill light 😊. Lastly, do you use a 1/8 mist filter? A response would be freaking awesome! Thanks for the vid! Super great!

my mist filter is 1/4 :) Fill light same as key light and my backlight just a bit colder.

1. Turn the cap forward. 2. Put on glasses. 3. Place a wall right behind you (99% of people don't have a separate room for a studio) and move the desk right up against the wall. 4. Include the desk surface in the frame. 5. Add a camera from above for a second shooting angle. It's easy to suggest setting up lighting in ideal conditions. But that's not what happens in reality.

Very good timing for this video :) Been looking at getting the godox SL100BI (need the variable Kelvin to match up with some other stuff), but: my question, when using the SL100D with the placement of the light you have in the video, what strength are you running it at? I’m torn between the 60 and 100, and knowing me I *will* pretty soon find that the lowest powered version (60) probably is gonna be a bit weak.
@thaticelandicguy5 ай бұрын
I used the 60w for years as my main light, the 100w in this video is at 30% if I remember correctly. It just depends on your space and how far away your lights are from yourself.
@AndreSjoberg5 ай бұрын
@@thaticelandicguy Yeah, thanks :) might be doing some slomo (60fps) product presentation video stuff down the line but sounds like 100watts should be powerfull enough for that, and experiment with the light further away for harsher shadows on products for a more stylized look which of course requires some power and ooomph :)
@thaticelandicguy5 ай бұрын
@@AndreSjoberg the 100v should be enough for that imo
@AndreSjoberg5 ай бұрын
@@thaticelandicguy Thanks :D Not gonna hold you against it if it turns out to be a little weak for the slomo though ;) Knowing myself and the complexities of the inverse square law and all that one *always* need more power when ambitions takes over and the goals are set high ;)
@thaticelandicguy5 ай бұрын
@@AndreSjoberg yea I'm not a perfectionist lol, so yea for the slow mo maybe go with a 300w then you're safe :)
