Tiny Tim was my friend. He was the opening act at Steve Paul's Scene for everyone that played there when I was going there from 66-68. He was truly a lovely man. So warm and sweet. He would call people by there first names but always with a Mister in front of it. So I was Mr. Mel. I was lucky to call him a friend and will always think warmly of him.

How absolutely amazing. you should feel proud , what a lucky guy u are to have even spent a hour with Tim let alone be privileged to have him call u Mr. Mel. What a beautiful hearted man he seemed...and what a glorious celeb, so unasumming and so grateful and so adoring of other celebs that he has a real respect for...if everyone had a bit more of tims quality's then showbiz really would be fun. God bless that tiny tim.lol

@@Sol-Cutta I think you misunderstood my post. I didn't spend just an hour with Tiny. I spent three years hanging out with Tiny at Steve Paul's Scene probably couple times a week but at least once a week during those years when he wasn't on the road. I didn't feel privileged, I'm just glad we were friends, he was such a sweet man.

I agree with you completely. After all the nonsense, Tiny was an honest--to--goodness exponent of vintage vocal stylings. That's why when I decided to record him with my band, I would present him in a serious light. Here he is evoking vocal images of the great Jolson -- kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y3_Cm598YtiFp80

HERE IN CHILE (South America) we had a singer and composer just as "histrionic (exaggerated) as Tiny Tim and his name is Raúl "Florcita Motuda" Alarcón (that is: Raúl "Little flower Bulky" Alarcón) who has later been a representative of the republic from Chile (...I don't know how it came to be... (irony)); "Motuda" also resembles the singer of Freddie & The Dreamers (I'm telling you now) in his acting. Important songs by Florcita Motuda (see live on OTI, Festival de Viña or TV programs): "Pobrecito Mortal", "Final de Siglo", "Brevemente... gente", "Tírale un ajo", etc. (note: he sings in Spanish (our native language). Greetings from the end of the world.

What's it got to do with who he married. He might well have been married to the Queen of Sheba. I didn't make any mention of his matrimonial status. When I said he was "as queer as a $3 bill" I didn't mean he was homosexual. Just queer, as in strange, as in way out, as in a "little unusual." Maybe my term got lost in translation from the Australian language to your local verbiage.
