I have taken NRP but i was wondering if you would make a video showing the easiest way and most basic way to learn it and demonstrate it sometimes because we don’t do it often i forget and i would love to be able to look at a quick vid just to get a refresher on it

Loved this!! As a new NICU nurse I was having trouble with differentiating a true desat. Can you do a video on how to identify a true bradycardia episode also. I have also been having trouble with maintaining babies temperature in the isolette since the temperature probe can cause the temp in the isolette to go up or down if the probe comes off or baby is laying on it

Depending on how quick the baby comes out from a Brady it’s usually stool related. Lots of babies will bear down when trying to poop causing them to vagal and Brady dip. If it lasts a few seconds and comes up right away, check a diaper and most of the time it’s related to them trying to poop. If the Brady is associated with a desat at the same time then that is a apnea spell and so definitely go in and check your baby. And with temp probes, honestly it’s just about repositioning it to a new site if the bed is reading low or high temps and adjust the bed settings if needed

@@TiffanyRNnicunursetiff thank you! My baby desatted after I watched this video. I stimulated baby by rubbing his back, sat hit up and stimulated him, repositioned baby with a shoulder roll, suctioned the nares and the term baby was still desatting from 98 to 89. I tried each step before moving on to the next. He’s on a 1L NC and neo wanted his sats above 96%. Lastly I bumped his oxygen from 28 to 30 but he still wasn’t maintaining his sats until day shift came in for report. Am I doing something wrong? Did I miss something or did I do what I’m supposed to do?

Your thing in the intro is cute with the mask on Tiffany! I’ve had thoughts about becoming a NICU Nurse but then i changed my mind about majoring in Neonatal Nurse, because Google told me nursing school is so hard. But I’m still kinda interested in Neonatal Nurse related, for reasons!

@@TiffanyRNnicunursetiff oh that’s true since I googled it. I did some research on becoming a NICU nurse, before changing my mind about my major! But I will major General Studies at my CC, since they don’t offer Asian Studies! And then plan to transfer to UMBC from a VA CC and study Asian Studies!

NGL, since i’m thinking about majoring in something related to Healthcare field for my Master’s Degree. i think i wanna major in Healthcare for grad school, because i wanted to major it for CC and when transferring to undergrad school!! i’m thinking about becoming a Neonatal physician, since i’ve adored premature babies, even myself since i happened to be one 🥺😍 will do more reaserach about what Neonatal physicains do :) i recently learned that they diagnose and treat newborns with conditions such as breathing disorders, infections, and birth defects. Consult with obstetricians, pediatricians, and family physicians about conditions affecting newborn infants 🥺🥺

Do you have any tips on bagging a patient with an ETT? One of my babies is known to have quick brady/desats that are self resolved, but on one of my shifts, he wasn't coming back up even after I bumped his O2, suctioned him, repositioned, and stimulated. He went down to 40s/40s and was changing color so my preceptor had to jump in and bagged him because I never bagged a patient before.

Bag a patient like you would do an actual breath. Steady and slow. People can get frantic and bag quickly and if you think about how fast you breathe, that’s not how you would normally. So count your own breath and breathe for your patient like you would yourself
