You've done it again Randi! You made me remember my childhood and feel like a kid again, if even just for a half hour, or so. Anyway, I must once again, comment on your incredible skillset and awesome imagination! You really are just a kid at heart though and I believe that is what I like the most about Saturday mornings... hanging with Randi, as she revives the child still inside of me and having a chuckle or two along the way. So lighthearted and just plain fun. Thanks for your efforts (as always) and helping me remember how fun life could be playing again! You rock Randi ! I hope that you have a fun-filled weekend. Thank You!!!

@@RandiRain No the way I jumped , I live in the sticks as we say here when I jump they always just presume someones outside. That's the same size as zipzap RC toys were. Below a certain size, wheels stop being practical & solenoid driven jumping becomes easier.
@RandiRain10 ай бұрын
I never had the zipzaps, but I do know what they are. I'm not familiar with solenoid driven jumping. Solenoids are linear movement. I can't even think what it is.

There was a toy that my dad got me when i was a kid, i dont know what the name of it was but it was like a easy bake oven for boys. It was a molding oven for tiny lead beads, you would get like dragons, wizards and some other odd and end figures. they were about 1 1/2 inch tall when they were done. You would take these tubes of lead beads and pour them in the super hot mold and let it do its thing for about 10 mins or so. I made tons of these figures and painted them. Sometimes it took a few tries to get them right because the molds wouldnt fill correctly if you didnt put a lubricant in it first. You couldnt buy refills anymore by the time i ran out of the beads because they got banned when the companies got more strict with the safety of the kids. "Im guessing the lead fumes" haha but i worked around it and just melted down fishing splitshot sinkers and it worked just as good.... well, the lead was not as pure so they were not shiny when they were cool, the sinkers made them have a flat paint look. The toy was from either the late 70s or late 80s, my dad got it for me at a flea market brand new in the box, it was the coolest "toy" i ever owned. I wish i still had it, my fav was the wizard mold i made loads of those! The oven was maybe 1 square foot in size and painted that old blue hue color alot of old metal toys had and if i remember right it had maybe a glass shield on top to keep the lead from splashin up on you or maybe it was for the fumes. I never used the guard so im not sure. If you have this i would love to see you do a review of it

That I have never heard of and sounds crazy. Lead? Yeah, that's bad stuff. It makes you go crazy. I remember stuff using like liquid nylon and stuff making worms and whatnot.

Oh yeah i remember that too, "CreeeEEEeeeEEpy crawlers" i can hear the commercial, they had one that you could eat too, i tried my friends and they tasted awful haha@@RandiRain I think that toy i mentioned earlier was metal molder factory but the one i am seeing is small, i remember it being much bigger
@tarstarkusz10 ай бұрын
Very nice job. Have you ever considered spray acrylic paint for plastics? Most people tend to use spray paint on plastic, which tends to go on too thick and looks painted. It is extremely difficult to put down a level coat of spray paint. But spraying acrylic paint on plastic looks factory. China came to the rescue with a 30 Dollar sprayer/air pump combo unit that seems to produce a very nice finish.

I haven't. I just tend to stick with stuff I can get at the store. Does it stick without a primer?

I’ve got an original and fixed the cracked gears and rims using your mold techniques :) is there a material you can cast with that’s like the original foam rubber tires?
@RandiRain10 ай бұрын
The problem is it being black. I could do white pretty easy, but making the foam black is hard. If you dye it, it turns grey when it expands.

Awesome skills to recreate something like that from scratch. The TP4056 is just a the charge controller, it will charge to 4.2V in a way Lithium Ion is comfortable with and yeah they are great. They don't have low voltage cut off, but you would want that in the car anyway. I assume that's what you've got with that chip inside?
@RandiRain10 ай бұрын
I really don't know. It's getting out of my wheelhouse.
@gshingles10 ай бұрын
@@RandiRain still, top notch. Look up the DW01 chip. You put it in between the circuit and the battery and it cuts off supply at low voltage, like 2.2V or something. The motor would probably stop working before that, but you're not meant to let Li-Ion get too low in voltage. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a small module with DW01 on it.

1st shock- a playground cheap thrill now goes for "certainly you must be joking" money. 2nd shock- these weren't revived like so many other retro toys (I could easily see this as a desk toy). So the calling card of Stompers was climbing ability. Throwing what ever school supplies and debris to see how they would react. How does it climb?
@RandiRain10 ай бұрын
They're fast and hard to tell. They do turn over pretty easy, but they are just as strong as they are fast.

Strange that I don't remember these toys. I see that they were produced from 1980 to 2001. My son was born in 1985. So at some point he would have been aware of the Stompers and ask for them. Maybe they were not sold in Canada?

They were really popular. But I was 10 in 1980. Maybe just not good timing age wise.

@@RandiRain I remember those. And there’s also those lame McDonald’s stompers. I think I was too old also but I had a knack for acquiring friends and friends little sisters and brothers toys that I could dissect and salvage for parts. Hello Randi. i am new to your channel. but have subscribed and liked as well. I had a thought for you. how about making a r/c stomper. since yours is fast. could be real fun with making it an r/c.. I would love to see what you could come up with. If you're willing to screw around with bondo, you can get just about any print perfectly smooth. Frankly, I'm surprised none of these liquid 3d-printer companies (I think they are called resin printers) have tried to get you to shill their printers. 8.4k is small, but I've seen a lot of sponsored videos on smaller channels. A resin printer (assuming that is what they are called) could do this print without the need for bondo and sanding afterwards.
@Saavik25610 ай бұрын
While resin printers do produce high-quality prints, working with resin printers is all sorts of extra trouble. You've got to rinse the prints in IPA, then UV cure them, and the resins are nasty as hell.
