We camped in that spot last spring, we towed a little trailer in so camping in the “cave” wasn’t an option, but we did enjoy a campfire up there. My daughter was so excited to see “our” campsite on your channel!

You're a smart guy, Jonathan. You make all the right decisions when considering the safety of any situation. I see so many YT camping videos that are reckless, and I'm not sure if it's for clicks or because the creator lacks knowledge or that they are over-confident. This is one of many reasons why I support your channel. ✌️🇨🇦

I picked up a 2kw vevor diesel heater, which was previously rare to find, for about $133. I had a halcory 5kw which did not got thru a shutdown due to an eventual loose ground and melted some plastic. It was an all in one. I’m much happier with the 2kw seeing it is metal housing and not all in one. The all in ones can leak fuel seeing the tank is right on top of the heater.

Yo! If you toast the oats first with butter or oil, it reduces the cooking time and gives a nutty taste and toasty texture.

I know he doesn’t live in his truck full time but, for those of you that were wondering why he was so adamant about if something were to happen and he had to leave quickly, It’s pretty much a driven thought process to all of us that spend a lot of time living in a vehicle. It becomes natural to think this way even in a totally safe place. It may seem weird but it’s smart because bad things have happens to vehicle dwellers in very safe places and you always have to be prepared to save yourself. As a full time female solo vanlifer It’s the first thing I think about even if I roll into a Walmart in the middle of the night lol!

You’ll love a diesel heater. It’ll easily heat as much as you need and you could even crack a window if you want a little fresh air. It’s a dry heat too, unlike the Buddy heater. They are fantastic!

Campsite selection is all about understanding microclimates. For winter camping in the desert you want to find campsites that are in the open sunshine and out of the wind. The perfect site would have a south facing rock wall behind camp to absorb the sun and partially block the wind. Sunshine in the morning is most important as that is the coldest part of the day. That cave was cool but it would be in the shade and stay cold all day so better fall or spring camping or if it was windy and cloudy like the day a storm is moving in.

@simonKagreeКүн бұрын
That's crazy, how excited Kaya gets about the sand boarding -- and no matter how fast you go, she's faster. I assume that shining the light around the campsites at night is about checking for eye reflections from mountain lions and coyotes -- not unreasonable when traveling with a dog. Not so crazy is your supper. I haven't tried steel-cut oats yet, but I do that all the time with couscous, polenta, or rice. They're all delicious and filling, and the couscous cooks up super fast. I don't care for Le Croix, but enjoy seltzer with powdered Dad's Root Beer or Gatorade in little packets.

If you had a diesel heater you’d have to struggle keeping the battery charged and having enough spare diesel in an extra tank. My diesel heater consumes little less then a gallon if I run it on low over night. And the lead acid batter I have maybe will last 2 nights. It takes forever to trickle charge the battery. Just be mindful you’ll need some sort of way to charge it from your trucks alternator while you’re driving. Also a power stations 12v cigarette lighter usually doesn’t have enough amperage to warm the glow plug so be careful
