Those little Salmo Minnow lures are deadly!! Have a few myself. They don't disappoint!!
@senanstanleyfishing Жыл бұрын
They are half the price of other lures aswel, madness !
@kiwi_comanche Жыл бұрын
@senanstanleyfishing Yeah, for sure. Rapala effectiveness for 2/3rds of the price. Great kit!!
@yep.fishing Жыл бұрын
What always surpised me was hoe fast you retrieved, then seeing the underwater gives me confidence because they were darting so quickly.
@senanstanleyfishing Жыл бұрын
I always work the lure quickly with the flow for trout man, plus it was quite shallow, so needed to keep the lure up out of the rocks and weeds, the trout are so fast, they will come for it way faster than I can reel 👌💪
@yep.fishing Жыл бұрын
@@senanstanleyfishing yea that's true, shallow and your retrieving with the current. Come to think about it, some of my reels have such low retrieve rates that I might even be able to retrieve fast enough

They would drive ya mad at the best of times ☺️😂 it’s just a bit of fun though, I don’t mind losing these smaller guys, would be a different story on the lake, couldn’t risk losing a ferox ☺️

@@senanstanleyfishing no, I'd need therapy losing any trout ovr 3lb
@senanstanleyfishing Жыл бұрын
Definitely 😂
@jailcat2038 Жыл бұрын
Do you find trout tend to favour hitting one of the hooks more than the other?
@senanstanleyfishing Жыл бұрын
Not really personally, they usually attack the lure from all angles, it’s often a reaction strike reeling the lure downstream into the fishes feeding path, so they instinctively attack it like they would a real minnow

4:17 are you using any split shot
@senanstanleyfishing Жыл бұрын
Hi Jim, No I never attach any weights when lure fishing for trout, the lure itself acts as the weight, adding split shot wouldn’t let you twitch it effectively in shallow water
@pauriccox2153 Жыл бұрын
Nice vid senan, what size single hooks to you use for 5cm salmo
@senanstanleyfishing Жыл бұрын
Size 6s suit the 5cm , size 8s will work too just fine ☺️👌 I prefer the bigger size 6s tho

Well Senan is there any affordable pair of waders you recommend?
@senanstanleyfishing Жыл бұрын
The ones I had on here were only €50, kinetic chest waiders, cheap but do the job for a season anyway ☺️

Thinkin about startin spinning ,can u use a type of bubble to help cast further when fishin in a lake ?
@senanstanleyfishing Жыл бұрын
You can use a bubble float for extra distance for bait fishing, or attaching flies. But I wouldn’t recommend it for lure fishing. Need direct contact with the lure, the bubble float only gets in the way.
@Griffinwoods-nv7th Жыл бұрын
Do u not find ur reeling in to fast wen uve got a fish on
@senanstanleyfishing Жыл бұрын
No that’s the thing with single barbless hooks, you have to keep a tight line and reel or else one kick and the fish comes off, it’s different than using trebles, any slack and the fish is gone 🎣
@joefortune5040 Жыл бұрын
Beautiful fish Senan. Great to see a good head of minnow too. Could be worth trying that river with a Tenkara rod. I’ve just started Tenkara fishing. Great fun on small wild streams. You should try it.
@senanstanleyfishing Жыл бұрын
Would definitely be a savage spot for it 👌
@Vechking Жыл бұрын
Do people pinch the barbs on treble hooks or is that still too harmful for the fish?
@senanstanleyfishing Жыл бұрын
It’s often the trebles that can stick into the fishes eyes that do the most damage, but look there’s no right or wrongs, we can only do our best ☺️👌
@Vechking Жыл бұрын
Senan Stanley Fishing Fair point. Keep up the good work 💯
@davidmalone5907 Жыл бұрын
senan great channel, why do you use a leader? just curious ive only started fishing the last couple of years and also what is braid?
@senanstanleyfishing Жыл бұрын
The leader is to keep your mainline away from the lure so you don’t spook the fish also it’s good for abrasion against rocks so you don’t snap off, the braid is the mainline, there’s zero stretch in braid which makes working a lure much easier ☺️👌
