Tinyhawk 3 Plus - Improve VTX Performance

I recommend everyone to adopt this setting with 400. My little Tinyhawk3 flew a maximum of 20 meters with a clear image. Now 200 - 300 meters are no longer a problem. cool, thanks

THANK YOU, I have been troubleshooting for a few days now on my tinyhawk 3 plus freestyle ,analog edition, like many others I was losing video withing 15-20ft, now am able to go 300+

I came into this Freestyle package with low expectations, especially as my first ever FPV. The drone itself flies much better than I expected and it's nice and durable. Nothing could have prepared me for how bad the default video strength is. I went completely blind within my own yard with open air and zero obstructions. Changing the VTX power is mandatory. Do it before you even try to fly, or you might lose it on your first flight and not find it like I did

I had exactly the same problem. No reception in the glasses and blind after 10 meters. With the new setting (DB26 and 400) I can now easily travel 200 meters 😊

@@tomkoller749It was unusable until I turned up the VTX power. I would advise anyone who buys one to not fly until the setting is changed in BetaFlight

Thank you very much for the information. My Tinyhawk had max for 10 meter image. (with 200mw) Thanks to the new 400 I can now fly a good 300 - 400 meters, or more Thank you 👍🎉🥳

I have to agree about unsupported VTX power levels, I've changed my Tinyhawk 3 from 25mW to 100mW to 200mW with no change at all in VTX quality or range. Bumped it to 400mW and suddenly I'm flying clean around the house. I'm still very confused on why it takes that much power output to get a signal direct line of sight from only 10 meters away; I'm sure there's a better answer out there, but throwing more power at it did the trick.

Where would it be drawing that power from? The headset or the drone battery itself. Sorry new to the hobby if that question seems obvious.

@@yabigboiii9731 this procedure turns up the power on the drone transmitter, so it draws more power from the drone battery.

Some other reviewer suggested changing the RaceBand to channel 8 to limit the interference from WiFi. is that also a thing?

I don't think so. As I understand it, the Freestyle uses a different board.

I've tried changing this on my TH3 FS HD, and in Betaflight, there are only numbers in the first 2 of 3 power levels, there are 0s in both fields for power level 3. I tried entering the 26 / 400 in the third power level slots (which were both at 0 from factory). The numbers will not save after a reset. Goes back to 0s. Then I tried adding the 4th power level with the 26 / 400, and same thing, it will not save the numbers after a reset. Any known reasons for this? My TH3 is pretty much unflyable because of all the snow in the image, and range is terrible..

I believe there is an override process with the TH3 FS where you have to hold the bind button while plugging in the battery or something in order to bypass the lockdown preventing you from using higher power levels.

Did you do that button pushing while plugging battery in on drone to unlock the vtx on the drone first or is it even necessary or can i just do this betaflight setting?

I did try that, but noticed no difference. I think that works on other models, but not the TH3+.

vary new to fpv and have a tinyhawk freestyle 3 with extremely bad video cant go 5 ft with out loosing signal and cant seem to find anything on it besides changing the vtx it is brand new and looking for some insight

I'm not too familiar with the freestyle. I thought I heard that it had removable antennas, so you could try purchasing a lollipop style and replace the existing VTX antenna. Did you try increasing the power (mW) like I outlined in the video. I suspect it might be similar. It depends on the programming g for the VTX though. Some let you set the power level, others have it assigned to numbers (1-4). You can see what it's currently configured with to know how yours is programmed.

I had the same issue and still do but what made it slightly better is the lollipop antennas but that only improved it by like 2 feet what really helped it is dependent on where you are. You might be getting high interference from wifi and other stuff. So what I did is I changed from the default Channel 4 to channel 7 it really helped now I can go a good 100 m with decent camera quality I haven’t done this yet, but what else in is a lot of people have done some antenna upgrades on the drum but it’s really difficult and requires a lot of school from those videos. It looks like it really really helps so if you’re up for that you can give that ago

You have to do this procedure and turn it up to 400 milliwatts. It's basically unusable until you do this and you don't find out until your drone goes blind in the air.
