Meet CEO Arya, an experienced tiny dweller. She & her team developed the innovative Wilderwise tiny house to solve a key pain point for tiny house on wheels design, crawl-in lofts. Solution: roof lifts to 17-ft when parked! And it's fully modular, inside & out for max flexibility. Enjoy a look at their innovative prototype! To learn more visit their site; link above. ✨👉 *Watch a tour of a 10-ft wide by 32-ft long tiny house, parked on land:* kzbin.info/www/bejne/fWW9aKOrbrWifdE

Until now, I never saw the advantage of a tiny house over a comparably sized RV. But the modular aspects of this home are quite impressive. Perhaps , in future, that will allow one to have a hand-powered or electric lift module (to replace the stairs) that would solve the remaining issue for those of us who cannot do stairs (elderly and disabled).

Finally, a tiny house with a bedroom that is not a loft. Exactly what would keep me from living in a tiny home is the headroom in the bedroom. No way am I gonna climb up stairs & not be able to stand up. So bad for the back. I love this idea. So ingenious Love it.

Thanks for seeing the potential in our vision! Yes, the layout and size is not for everyone. This particular model is great for travel and small lot sizes/developments. Larger models may suit some people better. We will offer larger sizes when we expand our product line. I think most videos makes the space (especially the kitchen) feel smaller than it really is. Most people who tour the home in person comment on how spacious it is!

@@WilderwiseHomes Nice. I have a design proposal for you. 4X the floor area. Just like your design, you lift the 2nd floor structure up, then the 1st floor opens the left and right sides. Also, would there be a possibility to have a door on the 2nd floor leading to the outside? (If not, maybe an outside ladder) It'll be like having a balcony or two. Possibly attaching some railings preventing accidental falling. Or you can even put solar panels up there.

Yes!! A bigger sink is a must in a kitchen that you intend to actually cook in. Also, as a person with allergies, a vent is a MUST over a stove top. I also question the oven they've included. Did they think of a microwave convection oven? The rest of the place is pretty great and the price is actually not that bad.

I've been looking at a lot of tiny house tours. And that loft is brutal on most of those houses. I knew the issue was the height that is the limit for traveling, and I actually had the idea there's got to be a way to lower and prop up the roof. I'm so excited that someone's already figured it out and has technology to make that happen.

I have a disability, and this is the first idea for a -transportable- Tiny Home that I have found with a usable upstairs for me. This completely changes the game in Accessibility if we really mean Tiny Homes to be about affordable housing- which is a big deal across the diverse disability community. I’m EXTREMELY excited to see Wilderwise go into mass production/customer delivery (because the whole concept and the ethos of the company/family model seems to be a great combination for a spot in this business. I also hope for success with the Wilderwise models, because I think they will get out in the public, do well, because appreciated and sought after, and hopefully that will increase funding so that this very innovative woman, her partner, family, and co. Can offer personal disability customizations on their models - or just increased foot-print accessibility etc. as I truly feel this company has the innovation and style to present affordable housing to a wide range of communities- including one that is very difficult to reach in this industry

I’d be a little concerned about the “lightweight” aspect. It’s a beautiful home, but being from the South, I worry about it withstanding weather, such as high winds, etc. I worry about it leaking from where the top expands.Can you use the loft without it being expanded? It’s definitely adorable.💗
@WilderwiseHomes
@WilderwiseHomes 2 жыл бұрын
We’ve experienced 50mph+ crosswinds with no issue. This is with the roof raised and without any tie downs. We haven’t had an opportunity to test it in higher winds yet. If you are concerned about highly destructive storm winds, there are several steps you can take: 1. Use stakes and tie downs to secure the home to the ground. There are multiple lashing points along the trailer and frame. 2. Lower the roof for the storm. This will decrease the height by 3.5 ft. 3. If you have the chance to, the home can be towed to a safer location for the duration of the storm! Here are some other safety considerations regarding wind: -More than 70% of the weight of the home is in the bottom half, with the majority being in or directly on top of the trailer. Since it is bottom heavy, it is much less likely to be affected by wind. -Yes, our home is lightweight compared to other tiny homes, but it still weighs 9,000 lb and can be loaded up to 14K lb with solar panels, personal belongings, water, etc. We use several custom-designed seals to fill the gap between the upper and lower walls. These seals prevent air flow, as well as particulates from entering the home! We have not noticed any draftiness so far. The upstairs area is not very usable with the roof lowered since the space gets filled with the lower cabinets that move out of the way for travel. The bed can be accessed and slept in, but it is quite tight!

I'm not sure why you'd want to buy an expanding Loft home and not use the expanding Loft. That being said if you watch the video when they lower the roof in The Loft you can see that there's absolutely no windows to look out of with it lowered, if you want into the design why would you not just buy a different one that doesn't have that design?

Id make my own personal changes of course if ordering a build but has an excellent use of space. Id build out the living room entrance with a flip out or add-on external mini porch🤷🏼‍♀️. Im also interested in solar panels and rainwater harvesting. I live in Italy, but may be moving back to California to be close to family again so as an ADU on my Dad's property and with the modular concept, well, it's an absolutely winning engineering plus!! Love the telescoping roof and the modular/ almost "flat-pack" aspect. The kitchen space does seem to be a bit constricted, but I'm sure that could be rearranged/reconfigured to some degree. My concern is the durability of the aluminum, and the lifetime of the actuator/lifting mechanism.
@WilderwiseHomes
@WilderwiseHomes 2 жыл бұрын
Glad you love our concept. There are definitely some improvements we are working on. The kitchen is actually much more spacious in person than it appears in this video but changes could still be made! Aluminum is a very durable metal - it doesn't rust like steel does and is used to build airplanes! Our founding engineer (RIP) helped design the Boeing 737. The actuator has a 20+ year lifespan and is designed for multiple cycles per day. The gas springs are designed for 50K-100K cycles in their lifetime. No customer will ever lift and lower the roof that many times so we are confident in the mechanics!

Wonder how maintenance could be done if there is an issue. Also how various environments would affect (ex. Salt water, high humidity, desert, etc). Plus how would natural disasters like tornadoes/ earthquakes affect the 2nd floor. Really cool design though and makes me think about all sorts of possibilities
@WilderwiseHomes
@WilderwiseHomes 2 жыл бұрын
@@lel7841 We will have our own maintenance team and will be working with local contractors that will have knowledge of the system. That way, you will have no issue in finding help if anything needs to be fixed. We don't imagine that various climates would have an impact on the roof lifting system, since all of the components are protected inside the home. Higher magnitude earthquakes could be an issue, especially if they are damaging other property (but this is a given). You can protect against hurricanes/tornadoes/high winds by taking the following steps: 1. Use stakes and tie downs to secure the home to the ground. There are multiple lashing points along the trailer and frame. 2. Lower the roof for the storm. This will decrease the height by 3.5 ft. 3. This is a BRILLIANT addition to the tiny design collection! I absolutely love the versatility this design offers. From the lighter weight aluminum framing, to the break-down of each module, allowing it to fit thru the common 5 ft. easements of many residential city lots! Amazing foresight. Woman after my own heart! I LOVE convertible, multi-use design features. And to have it built into a tiny house on wheels is a real GAME CHANGER! Sure, it's not especially cozy looking, but perhaps buyers can customize those aspects of the design, and make it fit their particular, more homey design preferences. All the other major benefits offered here, including the abundance of storage, provide a foundation from which to refine and customize to one's own tastes. Bravo for this great concept! I don't know if I could ever afford this, but I'm saving it in my 'Best Design Ideas' folder, for possible builders for my own, hoped-for, tiny home. nice design, i came up with something similar in my head. the actuators are nice but seeing them exposed is a concern, same with the controls, too easy to brush by accident. also a failure with the actuators could be a catastrophe if they are all that is holding the roof up. big liability there.. my design i came up with uses a car jack to lift the roof which is then bolted into place to secure the load. also if your doing a raising roof why not expanding walls! go big or go home! great design i love the innovations :)

Thank you! The actuator and gas springs will be enclosed for customer models. It is nice to have them exposed in the show model so people can see how the system works. The control knob is exposed but the actuator has to be plugged in manually before each use. It is never plugged in when we are living in the home so there is no risk of brushing the knob and activating the system! The actuator has a 20+ year lifespan and is designed for multiple cycles per day. Gas springs are designed for 50K-100K cycles in their lifetime. No customer will ever lift and lower the roof that many times so we are confident in the mechanics. There are also multiple fail safes such as lock pins, the lower cabinets, and the option to include additional stabilizing bars around the edges when parked. We have plans to incorporate modular slide-outs! These are in the design phase and will be available as an option likely next year. Since they are modular, they can be purchased after-the-fact and installed on any model!

I love this and I am a big fan of modularity. With that in mind, how does it handle in snow, ie, weight on the roof with the actuators, is it well insulated against cold, is there air bleed from the split on the second floor, will there different length trailers in the future?

@WilderwiseHomes

Thank you! We've determined that to operate the roof up/down, there can be a maximum of 6 PSF of snow on the roof. However, we are still working out the final numbers for in its lifted position (which is more relevant for common use). With the lower cabinets, caps on the gas springs, and option for additional beams to be placed when lifted, our goal is to have a snow load capacity of 30-40 PSF. This model has an average of R-24 in insulation and we can add additional insulation if you plan to be in more extreme climates. We will be incorporating vents/fans in the 1st floor ceiling to better transfer air between both levels and will have the option to incorporate a second mini-split upstairs. Yes, there will be different trailer lengths available in the future!
@WilderwiseHomes
@WilderwiseHomes 2 жыл бұрын
@@karynbenson6318We’ve experienced crosswinds while parked of 50mph+ with no issue.

Looks good for travelling and seeing the country. When you want a permanent spot I think your tiny could have a bigger footprint. It would be great if the width was increased by two feet and there was a closet in the entry. The kitchen sink should be larger and the cupboards over- head could be replaced by shelving to give a roomier feel. I think you have a great idea with your raised roof!
@WilderwiseHomes
@WilderwiseHomes 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you, glad you love the concept! Yes, if you plan to park permanently and have the space for it, a longer trailer would be worthwhile. However, some smaller lots may not be able to accommodate a larger footprint, which is where this model has its greatest benefits. We will eventually offer larger sizes (width and length) as well! Adding a larger sink and changing the cabinetry are simple changes that we can incorporate upon request.

In 1956 the "Hi-Lo" travel trailer was introduced. It could be towed low, then raise the top portion to have standup ceiling room. They discontinued manufacturing in 2010. Much better than most "pop-up" campers with canvas walls.

Absolutely brilliant design! I've seen a few TH with standing loft height. Most popular is on a step up trailer, bedroom is mid level with a few steps up. Another has standing space along the bed side. Space is gained by lowering part of the ceiling below. Others had DIY extensions like an expandable RV. The light weight aluminum frame will enable owners to relocate themselves & save fees. A modular system that can be reconfigured like legos will overcome many limitations. The insight of your TH desgn aligns with Tesla's automated driving vehicles. It's pure genius! Thank you for sharing! Wishing you success & abundant Blessings!

#1 AMAZING! You have really taken potential tiny home owners concerns and listened to their needs. #2 Would you be able to make this unit in a 10 foot wide version. Everything I have heard is that is the standard deck width allowing for much easier transportation due to the chassis size. #3 Can you customize any of the cabinets. I noticed both of you having your foreheads practically on the cupboards when cooking. I would like to see higher/cutout cabinets and a outside vented range hood and more prep surface area as the trade off. #4 That low hanging actuator control unit would have to go. I can see concussions in my future LOL!! Any chance of making that more streamlined? #5 Looking for any sales people/tradesman? Love it!!!
@WilderwiseHomes
@WilderwiseHomes 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! We do have plans to build a 10 ft wide model in the future, but the wider version would not necessarily be easier to transport. Anything wider than 8.5 ft wide requires a wide load permit, so it would not be something you'd be taking with you like an RV. Typically, 10 ft wide models are transported to their location and kept there permanently. Yes, the cabinets can be customized to a certain extent! We've been living in the home and never felt like the kitchen was cramped. I do see now that the video makes it look like our foreheads are almost hitting the cabinets, but it has never felt that way in person. In any case, they can be modified to be higher and with a range hood. The actuator box has 6 ft of headroom below it. This is the simplest and most inexpensive way to design the lifting roof system. Other designs are possible but require more motors, which add to weight and cost. Anything is possible though! We'll keep improving the system over time. Yes, we will be hiring this year! Send an email to arya@wilderwise.com if you want to talk more!

Love the concept from the outside. My concern is the claustrophobic interior. It’s got that whole corridor effect going on. That piece that juts out in a major thoroughfare will be a hazard for head injuries over time. Exciting to see this type of innovation - great work in pushing the limits 👌
@WilderwiseHomes
@WilderwiseHomes 2 жыл бұрын
In all honesty, it does not feel claustrophobic in person. I think the wide angle lens used for this video has that effect. The actuator box has 6 ft of headroom underneath it. We have options to redesign the system, but other iterations would add weight and cost to the build. There's always a possibility though and we are committed to improving the design over time!
