Hope that helps! If you go to her website I believe she has an about section that gives a bit of detail about her journey and travels!!

Not sure why people are saying this is unfair to the kids... The parents clearly stated that they were planning a larger home because they wanted the kids to have more space as they grow. What's the problem?

It also doesn’t hurt kids to share space and rooms and have less privacy....I think they will be less likely to turn into self centered entitled little people living this way....and the world has enough of them already!

Totally agree! Not only that but these kids are learning some good lessons and morals if you think about it. They learn how to share space with others and being in such a small space teaches them that life is not material based and how to keep your home clutter-free and organized which are very important skills to have in this life! I have watched a huge number of tiny house videos. Usually my thoughts are along the lines of, I like the bathroom design, or, what a great idea for storage. This time I'm just thinking, what a lovely couple. No wonder there are so many sleep overs. They're so real. I do quite like the house too. It seems to really suit them, and that's what is most important with a tiny house.

What I gathered from your comment is that people may use tiny house living as an excuse to live a mediocre lifestyle. I would agree with you if I take you correctly. I think all of us should reach for the stars. However, not at the cost of being out of our budgets or at the cost of others. And since, it is not the cost of other things, then we are able to achieve the bigger dreams - whether it be save for that bigger house, that property, or that vacation, or spend for other things that matter to us - to support ideologies, movements, missions…
@abcamacho6187

Put it this way, they started off with a house and most likely no funds for the kids college. Now, afterwards they thought ahead and decided to be mortgage free AND save money for the KIDS...PLUS help them be 1 step ahead of the game. NOW, what does that do? It now helps the child(Now a man going to college) be worry free of a home to pay for while pursuing their goals and in what field of work they'd like to get into. This just gives their grandchildren to be ahead of the game because their parents thought ahead. It's smart in my opinion. At the same time it helps bond more with family, nowadays it's more people on screens like we are doing so now....

EmmieTuesday I grew up with a brother and 3 sisters and we lived in a small trailer growing up and actually shared bedrooms and not once did any of us complain about not haveing our space or privacy. I guess you don't miss or complain about something you never knew existed. We all believed it was the way it was supposed to be. We had bunk beds and 2 kids in each room. And we all grew up just fine. And the thuth is I would do anything to go back to those days, things were so much easier, happier, no bill lol , and a lot funner. But most importantly my mom would still be here so I appreciate having less then 900 feet growing up. Made you closer and you had less junk and kids actually went outside to play unlike today. So I wouldn't change a thing. God bless 💕

The break down of the American family started with central heat, got more isolated as went from wood and coal to gas and electric. Once upon a time you NEEDED to share a bed to keep warm at night! World changed so fast it’s little wonder so many people are depressed, feeling isolated, lost and lonely! Families giving young children own rooms filled with STUFF instead off attention and love, bigger homes where you hardly see ANYONE!

Thank you for helping me realize that the "nay-Sayers" who doubt that I will be able to live comfortably with an 11 & 13 year old in my TH are absolutely misguided. I also want to thank Kim/ Raul for sharing their life in a 3 kid Tiny with me. My hats are off to you Jenna for this TH Mission - I pray that more people will be inspired to build these affordable dwellings so we can give up top-heavy mortgages and enjoy LIFE more abundantly, as God intended. You might find some luck google families living in RV's & travelling around the USA. There are a lot of videos out there. While it's not quite the same thing, it might give you some confidence that you're not the only one living in small spaces with kids, and maybe some ideas.

Such a cute and inspiring family. I'm not sure that I'd be into the whole tiny house thing....but smaller homes seem appealing to me as of late....I'd probably require at least 900 sq ft for this size family.....but I love the idea of living a minimal lifestyle like this....and while I used to think that all kids having their own room and having a large kitchen etc etc was important....watching videos like this is having me change my point of view on that and made me realize that all that "extra" space isn't really necessary, and maybe aiming for a "smaller" ( but still good quality) lifestyle/living space is a smarter way to go.

I often wonder why people freak out about this too. Do they not realize that it was in the last 100 years that it became common place for everyone to have their own space. Especially when they're kids, it's really not necessary. Once they become teenagers I can understand it a bit better, but kids don't need their own rooms.

I love that they consider their children's needs for when they grow older. I can't imagine that the kids will always agree with being in a tiny home as they get into their teen years but I don't think any of us really wanted to be at home regardless of size. Glad they're making it work. Seem like lovely people and this was a wholesome watch ^-^

Reading Harringway Agree? I am for respectful parenting, but what kind of say do children have in a size of a house???
@readingharringway4408
@readingharringway4408 4 жыл бұрын
@@hinahinananoha7783 None? Idk what you're asking. Kids are going to have opinions on where they live and parents can do with that information what they want. I was merely observing the fact that the natural progression of growing up is wanting more privacy and it seems these parents are willing to consider that for the future because it's what they deem is better for their family. So why is that a problem?
@hinahinananoha7783
@hinahinananoha7783 4 жыл бұрын
Reading Harringway Privacy is not set notion, you can have privacy behind a screen or curtain, or a loft, like they do. Sure teenagers can express their opinion. But they don't have a say in buying a more expensive place, especially if the family idea is that of minimalism. Then again, I doubt parents like that would bring up a typical materialist who needs a lot things and his/her own room to fill with them.

@@hinahinananoha7783 all they’re saying was that it was great that their parents are already considering moving into a bigger home for kids privacy. i watch tiny tours a lot and a lot of them don’t really consider the kids privacy in their teen years (i get that u don’t think think it’s a set notion but it should be considered bc as we get older privacy is something we all deserve). all she was saying was that it was very sweet that they already had a plan for their children’s sake when they need more privacy, not that the children get to choose to move the whole family into a bigger home

@Lilman Yellow did you watch the video? They discussed the fact that they have been saving for the past couple years and hope to have enough to build a 500 sf home by the time the oldest turns 13 yo.. that way he can have some privacy... I’m guessing they will have a first floor master bedroom and the 3 kids get to share the 2 lofts...

I also appreciate that the parents gave their children about as much space as they have for themselves. With the children having a lot more headroom to make having a third person in that space possible. It's also important that each child has their own bed, because a sibling stepping on the foot of your bed to leave the room before you're awake is far less disruptive than having to share a sleeping surface where you can easily bump into each other. Once the youngest kid is tall enough to take up the entire length of their bed, this probably won't work very well. But by that point they have either saved up for a larger one, or have bought an extra room that they can tow separately with an SUV. 2+ adults means 2 trailers are possible if needed.

I think it's great until a certain age. We have a boy and girl who are 11 and 12. They shared the same room and started to have a hard time last year. So if we built a tiny house they would need seperate lofts. I have seen tiny homes with 2 lofts but not 3. As a parent I'd like a door on my room for alone time. Little things to think about when purchasing or building.

There are tiny houses out there with 3 bedrooms that close the doors. Search with that title and I'm sure you'll come up with suggestions. I just think it's cruel when parents make children live in opposite lofts without doors. It's very tricky when it's a family.

Their children have learned a measure of sacrifice and know their parents are working towards a better life.
