clot shot agreed! How could I raise a family there? Have a hobby..my yarn stash alone would fill that up.😂 Canning supplies, cooking, sewing, books, crafts and games for my kids. A family dog. @@illex759 No one is asking everyone to move into one of these. Not everyone can afford a big home and not everyone wants one. These are ideal for a lot of people. Starting a tiny house community has been a goal of mine since I was young, long before the tiny house movement. It just makes sense with the lack of affordable housing everywhere. I have always said if I got a plot of land I would fill it with tiny houses with a sustainable food garden, nature trails, artist studios, brewery, and performance space for musicians and performers. I used to draw floor plans any time I got my hands on graph paper and a pencil. Real in person intentional community is causing so much harm these days. I know it makes me sound like a weird hippie but connection is so essential for a healthy life.

The problem is county and city government. Sewer is a big issue. A private system is expensive but getting a zoning exception so you can connect to existing in a town is difficult.

I have a vision of kibbutz type community with tiny homes. Modified to where people can own their belongings and money, with shared ownership of community. I am not hippie or socialist. I believe life can be shared, it's burdens and joys. Unrelated people can be like family. I am just a conservative single woman that wants to live and let live. I have rescued a bunch of cats, about half are feral. I am coming to realization that long term a one person rescue is not sustainable. Not a 501c3. All on my dime. I work 2 jobs to cover expense but then it costs time to care for them too. Want to make pet rescue/sanctuary part of community. I am 55, owe just under 6k on my home. I want to refinance and use the $$ to build such a community. I too think of this as a retirement plan. People die of loneliness as much as anything else. With our economy tanking, people of like mind need to band together. Too much redundancy and expense to be lone rangers. In general I am thinking of women of my general age but not opposed to men and families. Is just a harder sell to them. Got several friends who have been struggling and only getting worse. So blind to world around them.. they don't want to give up what they will eventually lose anyway. They prefer the way it is to a discussion of potentially an improvement in life quality. I love them but realize I need a new tribe. I am in NE Alabama. I like the area. Seems to be restrictions on home sizes though. 45 mins to Bham. 2 hrs to Atlanta. I work in Bham and enjoy city benefits. Just don't want to live there. Anyway sorry for novel. Your post struck a chord with me.

This is fabulous. Unlike almost every other TH community, they have designed the community beautifully allowing for privacy & space. The homes aren't literally on top of each other in rows. I've been researching TH & communities for many years. I love the diversity offered here as well as the outdoor activities; especially gardening which goes hand in hand with the mindset of many interested in tiny homes. Being dog friendly is another bonus! The open areas here are beautiful. I've been planning on selling my current properties early next year building a TH & moving into a community. I was hoping to move to the west coast to be closer to family but this looks like I may be moving south instead. Absolutely magnificent job. This should be the model for ALL tiny home communities. Been hoping to start something like this myself. Located in a nice bike friendly community. Figure with a few extra solar panels could charge a dozen e-bikes. 60% of the space would be food forest, chicken run, and aquaponics. Means less tiny homes but it does mean the four or five that do will feel nice and secluded even if they are less than 10 meters apart.

Fantastic looking tiny home community in North Carolina. Well planned out, great looking paved streets and tiny houses and interestng looking trails. If something like this was built in the Pocono Mountains of Pa. I would jump at it in a heart beat. Three guys getting together to create a wonderful space on their own land for others. Keep doing what you do well. People need suporters of the movement like you.

Love your site and "movement." Would love to see more tiny house communities. My wife and I would love to move to one, in Western Washington, or find the financing to build one. Anyway, any new videos on communities would be helpful for us.

This is a gorgeous tiny home community. A real stand-out! I love how the homes have a lot of space around them. That would make all the difference to me. Some nice amenities and it sounds like they have plans for more. The only thing is I'd want to own my land. Space rent does not appeal to me at all and will go up over time. If I were to go the tiny home route, and it does appeal to me, I'd personally need to own the land it's on.

Good point because sooner than later the rent will go up and everyone will ,lose their mind. That’s the risk you take renting.

@@kattackett149 The rent for the ITH communities is either $200 to $300 per month, depending on the community. The rents have not gone up since they opened....about 5 yrs ago. Randy, the owner, promises they will not go up. ( the lots are leased)

Here in the uk this is the obvious solution to homelessness, debt, minimalist living and building communities. Brilliant. All it needs is a developer to get hold of this concept. I would definitely downsize if I could keep my dogs with me.

Wonderful! Thank you Jenna for all your hard work, beautiful videos. Merry Christmas from Tenerife, Canary Islands, from a tiny country house in the mountains. ;)

I adore this place. It is the perfect example of how to do it the correct way. No one is cramped in, the sites are well taken care of and the owners care about the people who chose to live there. I also like that it is a mixed age community. The different ages can learn a lot from one another.

It's a good step in the right direction for sustainable living, they should consider starting some permaculture gardens or a community "Food Forest" it'd definitely raise the value and the quality of living! 😉🌱

This looks like a great community for tiny homes and pets. How many phases are they planning for? I like the variety of the dwellings ( i.e. Air BnB and year round). Thanks for sharing.

I can't stop sobbing. I'm so moved. I've been searching for a place to retire and live a long life TINY. I just NOW felt a stirring in my soul that I found home. I plan to have a Tiny home built next year when I find a community that loves life, loves nature, loves dogs and loves each other. So I have a vacation to plan to visit Agony Bell and sob some MORE. I can't wait. I hope we will be neighbors. BLESSINGS ✨

They've done a sensational job! Australia is so backwards when it comes to tiny houses. There's a major housing crisis here ATM & the government barely consider tiny homes as worth their consideration. It would be perfect for me - & then the rental I'm in could go to someone who needs more space than I do.

$300 per month rent for a tiny house unit at Emerald Village in Eugene, Ore. Those units run a little smaller than the ones shown in this video, but they are permanent in a town where $1K for a decent one bedroom is scarce. There are only about 16 tiny houses in the Emerald/Square One Villages but they are seeking to duplicate themselves as it doesn't require any government funding.
