Ceramics for Beginners - How to Center and Fixing Common Mistakes

In this video I will be going over the basic way to center along with common mistakes. I like to teach all my students this way as it is a great base for centering. Once you master this you can put your own spin on the way you center!

Great watch! This was super helpful! Any tips when working with really gritty clay? And wheel speed when centering?

I don’t use too much grit in my wheel throwing clay, but for wheel speed when centering you go the fastest. It is actually easier to go faster during centering. Then as you go on through the steps of throwing your wheel speed gets slower and slower. When I’m using ribs or kidneys I am doing final details and I’m going pretty slow with my speed.
