AWS can be intimidating. I love how you break down the AWS services to make them very easy to understand. I followed your tutorial on building a chatbot using Amazon Lex and i was surprised that i was able to built a working chatbot and deployed it to slack (Claude Sonnet helped in the slack deployment part.)

I had issues with IAM and IAM IC. The programmatic access option directs to creating an IAM IC user, instead of an IAM one, which is confusing.

Thanks for the kind words!! 🥰 For this, I was using my root account so I could create the IAM users. But after creating the users, you should switch to using one of them instead. 🤓🌟

IAM is an absolute nightmare. Their documentation is almost always out of date (or at least what Google finds) and there's nothing to explain why I have to open 15 tabs to get anything done.

Just as feedback, after watching I do have questions based on what was said about being able to assume roles temporarily - kzbin.info/www/bejne/nnLOXmp_orNpn68si=x529GHKe_SvFywpz&t=366 I'm going to assume a user (or entity) can't just assume a role with extra permissions unilaterally - rather that some other entity with greater permissions has grant that role. Also, is it common practice that a role would be granted to perform some action and then removed once done, making it temporary? I appreciate you already covered a lot, and can't go into everything - but that's just my lingering questions. Thanks again.

I think I should start my next IAM video by singing this: 🎼 Life's not worth a damn 'til you can say, IAM what IAM 🎶 😄🤣 You're right...you can't assume a role just because you decide to assume it. You have to be granted permissions to do that. And as luck would have it, I do have another quick video about that: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eJeoY3pjm9h1hLc. 🤓 The default time session duration when you switch roles is 1 hour. There are some more details here: docs.aws.amazon.com/IAM/latest/UserGuide/id_roles_use_switch-role-console.html. Hope that helps!
