As someone has said but I'll say it again, your videos are great and helpful. I do not Truck but I use your techniques in gaining skills in backing my 40foot fifth wheel. Thank you

Exactly what I was missing. My dock accuracy was always just a little off, this video fixed that one.

David Crowley Trucking @ Awesome list of ideas.. This is gonna be best trucking youtube channel soon.i will definitely share more ideas in future. For now, 1. Dangereous weather conditions. 2. Basic knowledge of truck maintainence like getting engine oil changed etc. 3. For owner operators, basic info. of parts that might get broke,how much they usually cost,where to get those fixed easily spending less. 4.Tips while buying a truck - how many miles are good, how long the engine lasts etc.

+galaxy note one this about my videos, the quality has to be at a high standard. It takes a while video it, take a few takes, think of what to say and then to edit it. Tough work. But once I know how I want it to look, it'll be easier.

By counting the number of rotations I know understand what you mean by it's all about balancing. The first three rotations of the steering wheel balance out. These are the forward moves that you said most people do not understand. I'm counting by 1/4 rotations of your steering wheel. FORWARD Left Turn 3/4 Right Turn 6/4 or 1and 1/2 Left Turn 3/4. Net ZERO. Then Right Turn 6/4 Left Turn 11/4 or 2 and 3/4 full rotations. Net 5/4 rotations to the Left BACKING Right Turn 7/4 Left Turn 5/4. Net 1/2 to the Right The leftovers are only rotations which don't affect the rear of the trailer Minor Adjustments to finally align tractor, trailer and loading dock/parking space. Two 1/4 Right turns and a 1/4 Left turn.

Equal amounts of trailer in both mirrors is equal to geometrically stating it as equidistant lengths on both sides.

I counted the total number of rotations of the steering wheel needed to move a trailer over a couple of feet. It is a large amount of rotations in multiple directions (right turn and left turn moves) which demonstrates how incredibly complex it is to move a trailer over a couple of feet. This also shows why some are never able to master this technique. Many do not have an internal gyroscope ( at the subconscious level) to do the hard tedious math work that I am doing manually. I am one of those that if I didn't do what I am doing now could never grasp the technique sufficiently to master the process. FWD MVMTS General direction. These are intended to set-up the trailer for more specific steering rotations or as you state "the first move most people do not understand" On the initial movements when you first pull out of the slot, you did first a 3/4 rotation of the steering wheel to the left then 1and 1/2 rotation to the right then a 3/4 rotation to the left then a 1 and 1/2 rotation to the right and finally 2 and 3/4 rotations to the left. This completes the initial setup and as you state the move most do not understand which you did twice for emphasis. BACK MVMTS Particular direction. These are precise steering turns which paves the way for minor adjustments in the 1/4 range. A 1 and 3/4 right turn then a 1 and 1/4 left turn then 1 and 1/4 right turn then 1 left turn rotation which is the straightening out portion and the final major move. MINOR ADJUSTMENTS- these are in the 1/4 to 1/2 range A 1/4 right turn, then another 1/4 right turn and a final 1/4 left turn. At the minor turning phase I think we can all figure out to do since it is a simple straight back requiring short steering moves we can visualize through the mirrors. WILL RECHECK THIS NUMBERS TO BE SURE I AM ACCURATE. FOURTH TIME EDITING THE NUMBERS It is easy to comprehend how difficult it is to move over a trailer just a few feet either way when so many rotations of the steering wheel must be done. Also, constantly looking out the mirrors, the equi-distant slices of the trailer out of both sides of the mirror, the focusing on what steering motion to engage in whether left or right and by how much further complicates the process. This goes a long way to explaining why so many so called "trainers" are frustrated by some students inability to learn and their completely ineffective strategies since they have no formal university training in teaching. Your formal educational level is irrelevant because you are naturally a teacher. Most trainers and truck school teachers I met are pure garbage, are nasty, vulgar and only know how to pass on a skill via aggression and other tactics at humiliating and belittling the student/ trainee. The smartest trainer I met admitted frankly he is no teacher even though he has 20 years of truck driving experience. He was able to know what he does not know unlike the legions of trash trainers and instructors in this business.

so if you want to move to left,you need to make left turn?
@MyTruckingSkills7 жыл бұрын
+Song G to move trl left Step 1; turn left Step 2; turn right for twice the distance at step 1. The trk & trl will be angled to the right now. Step 3 ; turn back to the left till the trk and trl are straight. The Truck has to do so much work to make the trl to do little.

Does this work for a 28 foot trailer the same way?
@MyTruckingSkills6 жыл бұрын
yes, but less of everything. less turning, less correction, it would be very easy to over shoot what you are trying to do
@ElSlickVic6 жыл бұрын
Turn faster when you lose control. Get in front of trailer . Pups move faster. So they need faster moves to correct. Back up slowly
@failyourwaytothetop3 жыл бұрын
Slowing down the speed of the video to the minimum allowed, one can see how many revolutions of the steering wheel occur. At least as a reference point to gauge trailer movement in relation to steering wheel. You sound drunk LOL.
