Excellent video. Right on all points. I've found that a cock bird at this stage is not predictable. Taking a tip from canary breeders, I replace the solid divider with a wire one, put the chick hide there and let the cock bird feed them through it. If I have a gentle older bird I put it in with the chicks to show them how to eat. Sometimes it even feeds one or two.No doubt about it, it's a nervous time. Especially if you're in full time work.

Hi, you always make nice sharp videos with useful information. If you would like to take a tip from an old experienced and retired breeder, I would like to point out the rings of the young birds. These are full of stuck manure, make sure they are always clean. Scratching the manure from the rings during nest inspection gives a better appearance + the quality of the ring does not deteriorate. Greetings from Rotterdam.👍

Thank you for liking my videos. My budgie partner always points out that I don’t clean the rings 😝. Trust me I do every now and then and definitely keep an eye that they don’t get tight around their leg but you are right that I need to clean them more often

Hi mate enjoying your vids see 1 perch is slopped why is that mate .😀👍
@Budgerigar7 ай бұрын
Hi, thank you. all round perches in the breeding cages are slopped to discourage the birds from mating on them but instead should mate on straight square perches.

Great video, I remember I didn't take the hen out so what happen is that hen killed the male, lesson learned in a hard way.

When you removed the oldest chick you return the hen you said. Is that so they shall have another clutch or why do you return her?
@Budgerigar10 ай бұрын
Hi, never shown the hen back in the breeding cage in this video.

At 6:35 you say you introduce the hen with the male again... My question was why, is it to let them have another round?
@Budgerigar10 ай бұрын
@@beba9452 yes only if i want them to breed again and she is still in condition.

Thanks for the information. Do you mean getting children out at an early age is better?
@Budgerigar10 ай бұрын
Not too early. Only when you see that pair will start laying soon and they have either attacking the chicks or they are not feeding them properly. Chicks should be at least 25 or more days old before you take one of the parent bird out of the cage.
