Your very welcome Anne! :) It is a beautiful plant! They don't do much here in Winter unfortunately, so we avoid any propagation on them. We will wait for Spring, when they start waking up from dormancy.

Hi thank you for all your amazing tips. Do you have any tips regarding pest control such as ear wick, snails and slugs that are safe for children and pets ?

Hi, glad you find them helpful :) Ear wigs, I haven't had any problems with and experienced having them. They are known as a chewing insect, so if you notice them having a nibble, you could try dipel. I now it's used for caterpillars and may be ok on ear wigs. It's also organically certified and will be fine around kids and pets. For snails and slugs, you could try beer traps. They are highly affective, place in areas that snails and slugs may like to hide or under a pot.

So I'm not supposed to cut the really long ones and plant them individually? I just purchased a 2 inch pot that has 2 small rosettes with a bunch of the long stemmed ones shooting out. Just curious what I'm supposed to do, if anything at all. Thanks! 🙂

Yes you can cut the long bits. That's what we do for propagation.

What type of soil is best?

Yeah watering these guys in Spring and Summer can be done a couple of times a week. Through Autumn and Winter, they go to sleep.
