I recognized the famous Pakistani actress Mira Khan, so decided to give this movie a "dhekho". I was so completely absorbed though out this sensational film!! Excellent direction, cast selection - All the women were lovely - One (the second wife & unfortunate young woman in the brothel) was even prettier than Mira Khan, and the oldest daughter (main character) was just right for the part! A Superb Production, with a Powerful Social Message!! The lead's last words were SO true!! Those pro-LIFE people, who insist on bringing life into the world only to survive & live in misery rather than be free to choose, should REFORM their way of thinking!! Those who cannot afford to educate, let alone feed their children, have no business to produce more suffering & hell on earth!! Taking it a step further & Frankly Speaking: Says a LOT about this culture, country, government, leaders, religious laws & religious hypocrites!! Only those who step outside, disconnect (at least partially), and look in from the outside, can realize how absurd all these customs & traditions seem to others, because they ARE!! Every nation, has it's drawbacks, problems & even Religious Extremists. But when the majority of people know better, reform & change is always possible. In Pakistan, UNfortunately, the majority have been brain-washed much too long into making religious excuses as a right to do wrong. By sticking a religious label to it, many Religious Extremists (all over the world) try to prove it's in the so called "Holy" book. If a book says Wrong is Right, then it's either "UN-holy", or highly "MIS-construed" - Take your pick!! YES, Democratic nations need to separate Religion & State, practice Religious Tolerance, promote Quality over Quantity, and Get With the Times, that "Gender" (with all of it's complexities!?) is no longer as simple as it was believed to be, long ago. the conversation between the daughter and father regarding the permanent ligation process is wrong. Islam prohibits ligation process. the one who stops giving birth just due to fear of rizk also wrong . we can have temporary solution if the mother's health at risk or some legitimate reasons. the film conveys wrong message. i did not see the whole movie. may be the director tried to portray the frustration of the daughter seeing her mom health and financial condition . But the word she spoke is total blasphemous

Humaima as Zainab and the Father did a fantastic job...the film overall has a very strong but very important message..the only thing I felt off about the story was time reference...when Atif and Mahira's part of the story comes, it shows different (advanced) Pakistan - where they are performing in the music contest and all, other than that, the story shows times like very very old times.

There are many messages in this movie for human beings. Only the sensible will understand. To live the life of a woman is the most courageous thing in this world and to be a mother is the most difficult. Both the medals are taken by WOMAN. Man, the least thing he can do is to hurt a woman by his hands and his tongue. There are Angels, then Humans then Animals. When a Human becomes angry then he is not an Angel nor a Human nor an Animal but WORSE than an Animal. I wish everyone takes this message from here to spit his Anger before falling prey to his own Anger. Only in Anger man falls in Danger and puts others lives in danger. If man would have gone thru the delivery pain then today there would be few humans in this world because after one child no other child would have born. Man can never bear the pain that a Woman can bear. Respect women not for everything but at least for being courageous and for silently bearing the most difficult thing in this Man's world. At least I feel so though I am not a Woman. On accounting day there will be no place for Man to hide. It's better he repents and changes himself before the judgement changes for him.
