Another suggestion that I would make is to install the door about 2-3 inches above the "floor" because of chickens scratch bedding around and can build up at the openning maybe blocking the door from closing properly. I learned this the hard way.

I just put a automatic door that you control with the phone (love it). Also put in a camera so I can see when they're all in. My idea with putting all that in was for when we have to go out for the night or longer, I can still lock them up without asking neighbors for favors.

That’s awesome! Which one did you get? ✌🏻❤️🐓

Think I'll just tend them AM and PM as I do currently with them in my basement...just want Temps to get warm enough to put them outside!

Thank you Sarah. Another informative video. I plan to manually set my timer as well on our Run Chicken door. My chicks come in May ( first time chicken tender) so it will be awhile before it gets tested. 😊

trimming butt feathers? Never heard of having to do that? I will have to google it. I hae three, (yes three) automatic doors and I am too stupid to figure out how to make them work. I have one on the coop, but I still go out every evening to make sure it closes, and every morning, to make sure it opens. Not really a convenient thing for me yet, but i am not giving up.

I’m proud of you for being so diligent. And yes I check on my chickens daily too, even with the automation! Trimming their back feathers is only necessary if they mess themselves back there - it happens with bigger fluffier breeds usually. ✌🏻❤️🐓

Hey I’m so sorry to hear that. Is she able to eat? Lay an egg? Are there worms in her droppings? Have you done a medical check on her? I’m not a vet but I can try to help - however we need to get some more info. ✌🏻❤️🐓 theMama@realsimplemama.com

@@realsimplemama she is 10 year old and not laying eggs from past 2 to 3 years and it's the first time she has fallen this sick , The problem is that I don't have any vet nearby who could check her and also I don't have any near by store of medicine for her so that I could feed her immediately. I have ordered apple cide vinegar and epsom salt for her and hoping that they arrive at earliest and she could be fine, I am just feeding her some garlic in a gap of 2 to 3 hours by myself and she is only eating those treat which is her favourite

Hey I have a medical check video on here you can watch to see what I usually look for. Ten years old is amazing! In that case sadly it’s also possible that she’s just nearing the end. But you can also email me, it’s easier to go back and forth that way.
