Sir just hear me out if I write a argumentative essay and i am writing for the point like phones are essential in a students life.There may be a possibility that the examiner has a different opinion.this might affect his marking. So cant it be that i write 80% for and 20% against.

The examiner's personal point of view may be for or against a particular issue but he/she will not bring that in while checking. Otherwise the entire purpose is defeated. He/she will check the credibility of the points you have made and mark accordingly. No, you are expected to take a for or against. You cannot keep your feet in both boats. The question says clearly ... ``either for or against'' the statement.
