Why does the K4 weigh only 10lbs? The Yaesu FTDX101D weighs over 25lbs. Are these not comparable units?

Historically, the US manufacturing community uses aluminum chasses while the OEM's from Japan use steel. Much of the reduction in weight is from that. There are other differences including a more modern computer design and a full SDR platform in the K4D which eliminates the need for the roofing filters, VC Tune of the 101d series, etc.
