Focused Intentionality - that phrase helps me decide where I want to focus my attention. As an artist working in a variety of mediums, I sometimes jump from one thing to another. That can be fun at times, but it really doesn't help me grow as much as taking the time to FOCUS on one or two things at a time for a set period of time. During April, my focus was to draw or paint everyday and to prioritize my time to allow for that. When I was in Florida, the focus was a pen drawing of a scene that intimidated me. It could be a focus on finding the pattern of light in a composition, simplifying the scene...it's unending.
Finding ways to make things more appealing and inviting to come back to can help the daily habit. By drawing off the spread of two pages at a time and giving yourself permission to just work for a small time each day can lead to great things. It's amazing how starting on a small area can then lead to working on more. Sometimes just getting started is what you need.
Working with a similar palette every time helps too. You get comfortable and confident with the color selections and the learning curve lessons each time. Give it a try. My current favorite palette and took kit is listed below:

Oh my gosh! I decided to do the same for Airpril! I did some full page but also did vignettes. Breaking the pages down into the vignettes seem to make sketching and painting less formidable and kept me continuing. It also gave me several memories of a place/subject instead of just one. I used squares and rectangles. I will add circles to add variety. Have a blessed weekend!

I use your “envelope “ idea for shielding pages. I used parchment paper but I like the wax paper idea as it can be used for a mixing palette. Shared the idea with other artists. Thanks!

FYI Your comments section for your newest KZbin “What’s Different” isn’t working. BTW I ordered the compass! Awesome tool for vignettes.
