This was a very interesting and helpful video! I just adopted two kittens, a boy and a girl. The boy is extremely sweet and quite affectionate, very assertive. The girl on the other hand is very shy. I try not to bother her too much, give her plenty of time. She's very play motivated and I managed to handfeed her treats and her wet food, hoping to bond in a food-motivated way. She also sniffed my finger today, so those are big wins. I hope she will flourish in the new family, I just have to be more patient.

I've been told by the wonderful lady who helped me adopt my current adult cat Chopin to stay away for 3 days. I didn't realize how much our human impulse to pet and comfort and care for our cats could be actually scary to our feline friends. He is entirely shy, but when I hear him mew for usually the water faucet, I take it as an invitation to pet him. He's rarely come out of his hiding spot, and I want so badly to bring him to an area with fresh air rather than the closet.

Why?! this is a great video! i watched a lot of shy cat videos and some doesn't even mention get more hidey dens stuff. it worked wonders with my cat. she gains so much confidence to the point where she does whatever when i am on the computer. she was very shy and hid for like 3 weeks until walk all over the studio. now i am starting to play with her and she LOVES the hair scrunchies and paper towels on the fishing pole. she gets scared when i get up though. but it's progress on when i first met her a couple months ago :D my boyfriend said to get a shy cat. i am a new cat mom so idk how a shy cat is. i thought it was just timid and would adjust soon? i was with dogs for years so i wasn't expecting a full on scared mode cat. but since i am very patient and i live alone with hardly any loud noises, this was perfect.
