It's beach day again!! This time we are spending a very windy day at Honeymoon Island Beach/State Park in Dunedin, Florida! In this video, I give a tour of the beach, including a walk down the Osprey Trail and visit to the Nature Center!
I will also be talking about my personal vlogging experience! I receive a lot of inquiries about starting a channel and requests for tips and advice, so I thought making a video on the things I did to prepare the start of my channel & the things I have learned so far might be helpful (or at the very least, hopefully somewhat interesting). This video will not be covering technical aspects, such as thumbnails, algorithms, etc. I will preface that I am in NO MEANS AN EXPERT on this topic!!! I just wanted to share a few things I have learned and thoughts about the process!
I hope you all enjoy, & please let me know if you have any questions!!
Special thank you to my coffee buddies for supporting the channel!!

Thank you @merahim083 for sponsoring this video's coffee!! APOLOGIES for the wind noise at the beginning! It does go away eventually, I promise! Also just for interests sake, I did not film with my camera for this one. I wanted to make sure it didn't get sandy or overheated at the beach so I used my iPhone (good decision considering the wind!). Also, this is by no way a comprehensive list of tips/advice for beginners. I'm inviting everyone to have a conversation about this, so if you have any ideas or stories about starting your own channel, why not share it below! And if you have any more questions regarding this topic, let me know in the comments as well! I'm always willing to help and share my personal experience! :) Thank you everyone!!

Nice hat!!! Who’s Mom got ya that again? They are an awesome Mom and it looks so great on you!! I’m so happy you enjoyed Honeymoon, one of my favorite places in all of the tampa bay. I wish I could have been there with you and I look forward to going there with you sometime in the future! You weren’t kidding about the wind!! Wow. I’m happy things finally warmed up for you and you got to lay in the sun at the very end :) That was the first time I’ve seen the Osprey Trail and it looks beautiful!! Also, first time I’ve ever seen the inside of the nature center and the native plant garden! I really love this channel and I’ve been watching since day 1! I really enjoyed your trek and your awesome message.. It’s so true.. always best to be genuine and be yourself, that’s what shines the brightest and think that’s why people love to watch. I have always said this.. i love how real and pure you are and that you never hold back, your heart of gold always shines and your just a bundle of joy to watch. Thank you for always being a bright light and reminding me of how lucky we are to be able to create and express ourselves. I’m so happy you decided to go this route baby, and I’m super proud of you for a ton of reasons but especially because of this video! You knocked it out of the park! You are so beautiful inside and out! Cris My Girl with the heart of gold!

Aw, sweetheart... thank you so much. I'm really glad you liked this video! You're right, whoever's mom gave this to me is the BEST! :) It was so windy, but I doubt it was Texas Chainsaw Massacre windy lol! I should have recreated that scene when your hat blew off though, shoot! Missed opportunity :P I can't wait to go back to this place with you, it was probably my most fav beach I've been to in a while! We are very luck to express ourselves this way and have people who genuinely want to listen and enjoy what we have to say. It's something we should never forget! You are Tampa Jay my Guy, I love you so much!!

These are the types of videos I like watching from you and it’s because it’s NOT a copycat of all the other vloggers. Thousands of people uploading their day at a theme park, but seen it, heard it, nothing interesting from the last time they were there, but a video at a garden, a new Fazoli’s, lesser known locales, the things you like, etc., that’s the different and informative content that piques my interest. That is the true definition of vlogging, in my opinion, not the youtubers clambering to copy whatever is trending just to get views. You’re doing great and congratulations on your new camera 😊

Wow, this is one of the best compliments I have ever received! Thank you so much!! It wasn't too long ago I was a casual watcher of KZbin and wow was I getting bored too. I knew whenever I created my channel, I would do my best to be diverse, capture what genuinely interested me and not just the latest ride or new cupcake at a park, and that I would tell it like it is. I REALLY appreciate you recognizing my conscious effort to be as different as possible from the typical "vlogger", it sounds like you and me are quite similar in that regard :D Thank you again so much!! This really made my day!

ThanX Cris. Another fun video experience. We enjoy you and Jay for the people that you are. Real…!! There is so much phoniness and narcissism in our world and that is magnified on social media. It is refreshing to see you and Jay - two very down to earth souls - that just want to entertain, educate, inform and enlighten everyone about the doings around Florida and the USA. You cannot please everyone so just be yourself and people will follow because they like you..!! Stay the bourse and flow your dreams. Wishing nothing but success and happiness - however it comes to you - for both you and Jay. Thank you for another fun time.

That was awesome that someone paid it forward for your entrance fee! We have those types of birds in South Texas! "Okay bye!"😂 I love the beach, I hate the sand 🙌🏻 Osprey trail looks gorgeous! You might not know how to "Vlog." By vlogging I mean all the technical stuff. But you are as real as it comes and I wish I was that verbal and talkative. But you're always inspiring me to try. I tend to speak before I finish a thought lol. Such good advice about being your genuine self. We're not everyone's cup of tea 😎 Nah, those chairs are totally spooky chairs. I knew about sand dollars but I had no idea seashells had actual names and types. We're here for the long, deep, venting/ranting vlogs! Thanks for the mini history lesson about Honey Moon Island. -Ven

My first thing was thinking of my channel name, Mystery (that’s me) Steamboat (Mickey Mouse connection) initials MS my disability. And my take on KZbin is I do it for as long as I’m having fun cause the day it stops being fun is the day I stop. I know I had fun doing Card Tricks and at some point I’ll do some more having a real love of magic. But I guess it was just a natural progression for me to have a channel cause back in the day before youtube existed I was always videoing in my camcorder.

Hey Cris, I like the new hat! It's interesting to me to hear you musings about the your vlogging experience--six months in you're making good progress. One thing that impresses me is that you take the time to reply to everyone's comments. I noticed at the beginning of the video the State Park Annual Pass is still $60...I think that's a real bargain. In my experience the quality of the park faculties in Florida is generally quite excellent. (the annual pass for California State Parks is $195!) If all goes according to plan I hope to be dipping my toe (well, more than that, actually) in the Gulf waters by mid-April. See ya next time!
@CristheGirl
@CristheGirl 2 жыл бұрын
Ahhh... I didn't catch their annual pass amount! $60 is a good price, I might actually look into that since I plan on visiting a lot more state parks haha! That is exciting you'll be over this way soon! And thank you so much for the kind words! I didn't want to come across as an expert since I'm only 6 months into this journey, but I was hoping my experience so far might help others nonetheless! I always make it a point to respond to everyone's comments, even if it takes me a few days to do so ;) Thank you so much for watching, I appreciate you!!

I love that you keep your vlogs simple! I get having good editing, but vlogs are meant to be more raw. I think honestly there's a lot of people who go overboard. For me, I think putting background music in a vlog, or talking video, is unnecessary, and annoying. Vlogs are personal, and don't need to be super fancy. Anyway, hope that didn't come off too harsh! Once again, love to see nature and beautiful places on your channel! Hope you are having a good day.
@CristheGirl
@CristheGirl 2 жыл бұрын
Aw, I don't think so at all! That's a personal preference that I think many people share, me being one of them! I've found that regardless of all the editing and music and fanciness, people usually just want to enjoy the person/people on the other side of the camera. I think that's more important. BUT, again, it's a personal preference. I'm sure there are people out there who like all that fancy stuff too, and that's great! Thank you for your kind words & for watching, I hope youre having a great day too!! :)

First and foremost, I LOVE THE HAT! I’m kinda shocked that you’ve kept it from us for this long lol. Loved hearing your perspective on vlogging! Your tips were so insightful… I’ve been vlogging for over 5 years and I still learned some things today. I love your point about doing stuff you love and enjoy. Your comment about your botanical garden videos not getting many views made me laugh because I can definitely relate with my hiking vlogs 😅 They never perform well, but they’re fun to make and I always get great comments and feedback from the people to do end up watching them. 😁 Oh, and I loved the little Honeymoon Island tour in between everything! It was very you and I can’t imagine it any other way lol.

Lol! Glad the botanical garden remark made you laugh, yeah the nature vlogs in general never seem to perform well I've noticed, which is FANTASTIC considering that's a main focus for my channel. But nonetheless.... I can't believe the hat has taken this long to appear, I know lol! This crazy business of vlogging is something we will always learn new things about, which is something I really love about it! And so glad you liked the format of this video haha! Thanks for this video! I have been wanting to start one for a few years now but feel strange talking to a camera. I already have what I want to do and the name of what it would be but need to get over the fear of rejection. Also fun fact, I’m in Tampa Bay area as well! Such an awesome area!!
@CristheGirl
@CristheGirl 2 жыл бұрын
The thing about rejection is... not everyone is going to like you, right? You could be the coolest most awesome person ever but there are so many different people out there in this world and there's no possible way to please them all. I hate rejection too. The amount of people who have given me horrible feedback and/or clicked on my channel and said "NOPE" has to be astronomical lol. BUT.... don't let the fear of striking out stop you from playing the game, or however that quote goes. If you feel you have something to share with the world, GO FOR IT!!! I guarantee you people will find you and appreciate what you do. There is no harm in at least trying, taking that first step is often the hardest part of it all. In regards to talking in front of a camera, practice is key! Pretend like you're talking to a friend or family member, that's what I do! Sorry for writing a novel, I hope this helps and thank you for watching!!

Thank you Cris for telling your experiences with vlogging. I recently got an iPhone but my old selfie stick doesn’t work well with it so I may get a gimbal similar to yours. My biggest concern with not having something to keep it in place is losing or breaking the phone especially since it’s my only one. I have came up with a name & have a solid idea for my channel so I’m good on that part. Thanks for the tip on practicing, I tried to film a video at a local park but it was so windy that I couldn’t hear myself so I’ll practice first. I want to take my vlog to places and events I enjoy going to, along with a bit of history because I’m a nerd lol.

Great video Cris and that was very Sweet of Jay's mom to make you that hat. And also enjoyed everything you talked about especially for anyone who wants to start a channel. Now starting one isn't really that hard it's just you have to know what direction a person wants to go with their channel and the content they want to put on it. Now I can say for myself because I don't see myself as a KZbinr at all sure I try to put a video up here and there. But it's hard when ya don't know what to do next. I don't think of what do people want to see because my channel is basically places I go and things I do. If I get the nerve up sure I'll try to make a video but the hardest part about it all is having nonstop conversation to a phone or others like yourself a camera. Don't get me wrong I can talk lol alot but that changes when I try to think what am I going to say that people would want to still watch and hear. Because I have a really bad habit of saying cool alot. And I try my hardest as well not to show people because I don't know who would want to be on camera. Oh but I did learn something new today well I kind of already knew but ya keep talking when music is playing and KZbin won't copyright claim my video. But anyhow I like hearing other KZbinrs thoughts on starting a channel. And that beach looked really relaxing other then all those rocks. Love looking for seashells I have 2 from Myrtle beach and one from Daytona beach. And thqt wasn't easy to find because you don't just see seashells at the beach in Daytona.

I know what you mean, after watching and re-watching myself talk for 6 months straight, I realize I say a LOT of dumb things haha! And people have no problems pointing out when you say a word a million times. I've been trying to break a lot of habits in that regard haha! Sometimes I blank out too when I'm talking or I just have no idea what to say. I'm glad you enjoyed this video, thank you for watching Jason!! :)

If you are using just an iphone - what do you use for all the data. Do you just fill up your phone and delete it all? And is that a designated phone or is it the phone you have for personal use too? Thank you!!! Discovered your channel trying to find out more about the Peppa Pig park and you had us cracking up!

Haha so glad you found me through that video!! These are good questions! After I had my video, I deleted the footage. Normally I would save it on my laptop but it has trouble reading the videos sometimes so I just usually end up deleting the final product. I made sure to get a phone that had a lot of memory so I wouldn’t have to worry about storage too much. I used my personal phone, which worked fine but was also a pain as you can imagine. I hope that helped! Thank you so much for watching, again, very glad you found the channel! 😊

i do not do uploading // i did do some for a basketball team and included one or two of them on my channel, but that was just to TEST the process. I have spent Years of filming basketball games University level ball and filmed high school games too. did colour and play by play for local cable but had nothing to do with the filming process at that being shared, i have spent Little of my Time filming practices t practice filming content that might turn up in a upload on to youtube. LOl I agree film makers and other creative makers should practice before they Preach. preaching being the act of self expressionism // myop folks use still shots for some of their content. making still shots and storing them for later use as inserts, would work for some film makers. eg: a female vlogger goes to rideau drive and tries on a slew of dresses does not need to buy all of them, but just one, to get to try on the dresses. all of the try-ons being still shot for later insert. eg: female content creator is in Key West and the beach volleyball is great to watch but the adjective she wants to use does not really Picture the Moment she wants to mention. So She INserts one of the Photos of when she tried on all the dresses and inserts the Pic that best sets / shows the meaning of her deep Thoughts. // I watched hours of Key West beach volleyball, Locals usually ruled the sand. However the view was sweet with the backdrop being the ocean. (staring eastward). Practice makes for being ready when its time to shot, or take the shot, or aim for the rim without a 2nd thought of 2 WHEN (when to shoot the content)./ and remember to NOT erase the content by accident or on purpose, before saving it to another drive. even the Woo had that happen to him, within this 2022 yr. // Plant content has growth potential. Farming is IN now, and the costs of being a Farmer are not as high as the cost to buy the farmer's made products. LOL agrarianism is making a comeback and it all stars with a seed. // u may well be that seed to help grow the vlogging and there by the travel industry. Travel is one form of sustaining low brow local economies that fell after the industrialization failed them, or their natural mining the land ran out of their RUSH. vlogging can help some folks that r too into themselves (intro verts) and with the strain of mental challenges, and the Drs pushing drugs. Vlogging can help them by pass the drug line for the Line to get out and vlog (on time). so Good on U for being Positive toward the competition (there r only 24hrs in each day and so many Others that want the very same eyes u have secured (for your said content) there is a zen thing about your vids, and with the war overseas there is a need for such one with the land/beach/plants' home myop Drs, that handle the mental midgets, should consider offering You Tube channels as a recommended daily dosage instead of pushing drugs upon their patients. and if that b, i'd recommend yours lots of land and views from a normal height does not hurt either. LOL Woo is Taller than i am, as is Jayson, so when they film they film like as if they r Christopher Lee height. // just saying Long winded comment for a video that comes with lots of wind. / stay safe, God Bless and may the SHOT be taken and found /

40:59// myop take the whole and cut it into parts, one part for each day of the week/ not of the weekend/ 5 cuts out of the 45:27 = 9min ish each./ and u have something to DROP each day./ eg: if i were your producer, u'd film on a weekend, 50-60 mintues of good coverage/content/location. (eg: not too dark to see the content. sound not affected by the wind/others noise, etc // take the two days to find the 60 minutes of coverage and content = split over the 5 to 6 days, with one off. Woo does one per day, so he needs to be out and about and cut cut cut. // but u dont have to daily it, and yet when u film u want all the content u filmed to be shown. there be the challenge of the camera rolling so cut it into more than one day's drop, and u still tell the story of the whole day at the Beach ($8 normal fee waived by a pay it forward customer: i did not like the ending of the movie (Pay It Forward). .. just suggestions, but do as u do and have the Patient buy the coffee in the morning. LOL
