Thank you for selflessly taking the time to go over these same tips with my wife and I while we were on the water the other day. It made a world of difference. The patience and kindness you showed will not be forgotten. Thank you.

I struck out again this last weekend. Still enjoyable and I am learning. Some nasty bridge closures limited my fishing area in the early morning. I think the Kokanee were starting to stage near the mouth of their spawning river and I happen to be on the opposite side. Caught some nice rainbows and 1 brown, so not a total bust.

I talked to a guy in a kayak last weekend who was skunked for two days strait. I asked what he was using and he showed me a triangle flasher🤦♂. I gave him the 099 course and sent him on his way with an 8in double-d. Hopefully he got into some fish the next day.

Yeah I had a similar experience. A kayak angler running a single rod with just a triangle flasher for 3 days and zero fish. I just don't understand.

I have also been having trouble hooking the sockeye and keeping them on the fact that I can't keep them hooked up and landed frustrates me. I don't remember having this problem to this extent in the past? Yesterday I had about 30 good strong hits and 3 fish in the cooler at the end of the day. Thinking about using Salmon Bungees tomorrow. I use sharp hooks and have tried bigger hooks, smaller hooks, and combinations of singles and trebles. Light drag and tight drag. Set the hook, don't set the hook, just start reeling, and just let them take it. I wouldn't think a hard hook set would be good from my Kokanee fishing experience. Also, I am curious when the fishing slows a bit later in the morning for me, there are some fishermen "not everyone" that seem to continue to get steady action, especially the guides. I would love to figure out how they are so consistent. I try fishing deeper, shallower, faster, and slower stop and go lots of turns. and changing my setups "spinners, hoochies, smile blades. I am always left thinking what are the guides doing that I am not? I may be overthinking all of this but it is like a puzzle I have to figure out. I am going to try fishing a lot shallower tomorrow. Hope I can improve my landing percentage. Thanks so much for this video
@spiltmilt5 ай бұрын
The guide boats have more rods in the water and I honestly believe the more bling the more fish are attracted to those areas. As for the poor landing ratios I am not sure what would explain just 10% landing rate. What style hooks are you using?
@glennbooher42985 ай бұрын
@@spiltmilt I have used octopus, drop shot, sickles, combinations of single above and treble below, 2 singles opposing each other, 2 trebles, and lots of different sizes mostly like the ones in your videos. Different distances between hooks. I am using long limber rods (9' eagle claw Kokanee rods) I may need to shorten them up and use ones with a little more backbone and a soft tip. I will try a bit tighter drag and lead them to the net with a little more authority. Although I have concerns about their soft mouths like Kokanee right? I am going to put a Salmon bungee on one and see if that helps. I do not remember having this much trouble hooking and holding in the past? P.S. I really appreciate your channel's well-made and spot on the same fishing and gathering that I do. I really enjoyed your clamming video. I tried razor clamming for the first time this spring I'm hooked. The video fishing on Holter really got my blood going. Thanks again
