I have decluttered over the years from military moves, but people didn't have the clutter fifty years ago (clothes and electronics) that they have today. I mostly did room by room. Sentimental items got passed down since we moved into retirement center five years ago incl old jewelry, papers on ancestory indo, and photos. The sentimental items was a separate project from basic decluttering which I do several times a year (April and Oct) incl clothes not worn in past season. Kitchen, computer desk and bathroom decluttered as needed.

If my sweater had feelings, it would probably be begging for a one-way ticket to the donation bin!
