Tips for Drawing White Fur in Coloured Pencil | Top Tips

In this week’s video, I have decided to share some of my tips for drawing white fur, when drawing on a white background.
If you have ever fallen into the trap of thinking white fur is actually white, then this video will be really helpful in showing you how to see what colours actually make up white fur, and help you to choose what coloured pencils you will need before even starting to draw.

Stunning work. I'm starting an orange but mostly white cat portrait. I want to do a coloured background, as the person receiving (a gift) is unconventional. I want to do an aqua coloured background, to match his collar. How would you approach this? Colour background first or after? How do you handle the edges around the fur? Thanks if you have a second to respond! 😊

Yes I’d do it first or as your working through the portrait - if you’re working with pencil then soft edges don’t ever think - oh I’ll soften those later as you’ll always get a bit of a line
