I used to ask my father - "how are you, Dad?" and he would say laughing "Made it one more day" - but years into this routine and not until his passing did I understand the last days' reply" Made......it...................ONE........MORE day" would mean that he was telling me he was close to death. Thank you for this video - I will try harder to make myself look better. I remember my late husband took great care until his last days to look very nice - I think I have not tried that hard because of the pandemic and not seeing anyone for over 2.5 years. I do know that putting on makeup and my "big girl" jewelry does make me feel better

First let me say how much I love your Fierce Aging series! There is a huge Baby Boomer demographic like myself who enjoy tutorials/tips on skin care and makeup techniques for mature skin. Your mother is so very lovely in every way. Her thoughts on moving forward in life very much parallel mine. I, too, feel I have aged this past year. I turn 72 next month (May 2022) and at times am disheartened that my makeup doesn’t “kick up” my look as much as it did even a year ago. You know when you hear something just when you needed to hear it? Well it was just now for me. I'm 72 and everything your mom said I've felt this past year and a half. I was very sick with terrible stomach issues just when covid hit. I was already run down and feeling the worst I've ever felt in my life. As time went on I saw pictures of myself and was shocked to see how old I had gotten and with imense weight loss , it really scared me into action. Everything your mom said I have felt and it was so good to hear I am not alone with those thoughts. I loved the soft natural glow of the makeup. I loved this video. Your mother is beautiful on the outside and on the inside. As a woman her age, it is sometimes difficult to look in the mirror and say, “who is this woman”..”.where did these wrinkles come from”....”I don’t feel 73 or whatever age you/we are “...but, as she said...we need to take care of ourselves and be the best we can be. For me...I dress everyday in nice causal clothes, always wear my pearl earrings, some sort of jewelry, and good looking shoes. All of them - but On A Mission is my favorite. She’s very beautiful! I’m in my mid-sixties and fighting cancer through the pandemic. I mostly go to the doctor’s office and back home. Can’t take chances like some do. I stopped wearing makeup, which was a large part of my life, since I started chemo. I miss it.

The pandemic experience has been profound; it's good to verbalize that. I'm 72 & would agree that some vibrancy has been lost, or at least misplaced. We were created to be social, in community. Hamper that need & we will, so to speak. We're having to learn a new existence, an adapting process that takes time. Love watching your makeup applications! I don’t apply makeup every day! I do clean my face & applying great creams that help my face feel nice every day especially at night! I do think that has helped my skin throughout my aging process! I am 74 & several ladies can’t believe I am the age I am! And I think it’s taking care of my skin when I was young! It’s important taking your makeup off at night & applying a night cream at night! I used Oil of Olay for years & I do believe it helped my skin! It’s not always important how expensive the cream is but how important the cream works for your skin! I just started watching your makeup tips & you do a beautiful job of talking & showing & explaining why you are applying the makeup this way! Also you also sell your line of makeup which I have never tried but doesn’t mean I never will! I have very sensitive skin so I’m careful when I purchase makeup! So I will research your makeup line in the future!

I chuckled when you rested your finger on her nose for steadiness! 😂 Something I use to do! I like “Determined” for her lips. Even with a touch of gloss over it would be nice too! I think as we age, we need just a touch darker! I will be 69 in December, and last December I purchased my first “red” lipstick. Bit bold, but long over due. Besides, when a woman puts on her red lipstick, you know she means business! 😉 Love your videos!

This was so lovely. My favorite lipstick on your Mom Determined! I saw my daughter & son in law finally this Sunday. Haven't seen my grandchildren yet. I became a young widow five years ago. My husband was only 59. My two best friends who are sisters and I've known since I was four were killed during the pandemic, by a lunatic running a red light at 100 miles an hour trying to get out of town thinking we would escape the virus. They died, he lived. Three weeks later my mother in law passed away. For a long time all I did was sit around in my pajamas. I did my skincare and put on Sunscreen, had groceries delivered ,& only left the house to pick up scripts in the drive thru. Slowly I'm joining the living again. Makeup being a pick me up. I have thick wavy hair I wear long. I've always been blonde and as I've gotten older the blonde has darkened. What is unusual is the only gray I have is in the front, but it's not silver but looks like that wheat blonde hair as a child. I love the makeup of the mid to late 40's and collect vintage makeup. I have some of my mother's from the 50's, she wore Chanel perfume, but makeup of different brands. My father was in the Military and while in France they had to go to a Military Ball. I'll never forget the way my mother looked. She had her hair cut short Audrey Hepburn had started the trend. She wore a deep red satin gown the bodice was studded in rhinestones that looked like diamonds. Paste diamond earrings, a real diamond bracket. I have today. A diamond pin in her short hair almost like a miniature tiara. Black velvet gloves. The most outstanding piece besides her, she was a (Maureen O'hara beauty with vivid blue/green eyes. My father had black hair & blue eyes that shown across the room. I digress. My father had found a gold clutch in French Antique store with a gold chain that could be in or out, the magic was when you opened it. Inside was a powder compact, mirror, a tiny perfume, and a lipstick. Since it was Art Deco my father had it cleaned and replaced with Geurlain cosmetics & perfume. I have it today with the cosmetics still in it. She had some of the most stunning perfume atomizer's. She was a dancer, sang opera, played the piano. I asked her once how could you give it all up at 22. She just smiled and said don't you think you were worth it.

Both "Determined" and "Worth It" were so beautiful on your mom (who is beautiful even without make-up!) I would have a hard time choosing between those two. I guess "Worth It" is a great every day, lunching/shopping/errand type color and "Determined" is a bit more dressy. Thank you for bringing your mom on again; she really reflects the stages I think most of us have gone through during this health crisis, and to seeing her radiant smile gives me a bit more positivity!

Your mom is simply lovely & I sense that it’s true inside as well as outside! Each lip color was very complimentary on her; my favorite was Determined. Beautiful refresh look! I know fashion isn’t the focus of your message but would you share information about your turtleneck? I’m struggling to find items for autumn and winter that aren’t too warm for the coastal GA climate and am curious about how you approach tweaking your wardrobe for these seasons in south FL. I'm so glad I came across this! I'm 57 and this was very inspiring and comforting to me. I have been feeling & looking older since the pandemic started. It has been such a stressful year for all of us... starting with the impeachment hearings, then the pandemic took over, and now the election is dragging on. My favorite lip color is "Determined". I truly appreciated your mother's thoughts during her interview - so honest and thoughtful! I also think the quarantine has "aged" me and many of my friends. Losing the structure of our day to day life and routine socialization has had a big impact. I really enjoyed seeing your mom's new look with your make up choices. She looks lovely.

Hello Nikol, this is the video I have been searching for. I used to wear makeup every day when I was working and even after I retired, but with no places to go I stopped wearing makeup. You know what they say "use it or loose it". Well that's what happened. Now at the age of 76 and a very active woman, I'm finding the way I used to apply makeup doesn't work anymore. I plan to try these techniques and I'll let you know the results. Thank you again.
