Best advice I was given: You know how to ride the bike, yes? Just go out and ride the bloody bike. Listen to the instructions, but forget someone's following you.

Failed my mod 2 yesterday, horrible feeling for some reason despite the fact I can rebook it. Was doing really well on my mock tests with instructors, clean passes, then the test was going great up until a narrow country lane with giveaway markings on my side of the road, the road ahead had a sharp bend so it was hard to see what was coming. I slowed down to a crawling speed, did my checks and moved out, a car came flying around the corner and that was an instant fail. Like you said, luck definitely plays a part in these tests, if that car hadn’t been there I would of passed with no minors. Anyway, we move 💪
@ayserides Жыл бұрын
Oh thats gutting! I didn't even want to rebook mine when I failed. I was so devastated. But we move and we smash it the next time :)

I passed my test the 3rd attempt as well. When I did it, a long time ago there was not Mod 1 and Mod 2 there was just an on road test and you would have to do the "turn in the road" and "emergancy stop" on the road. I had been riding my Kawasaki KH-125 two stroke on L plates for about a year and decided to take the test, first I tried direct access and borrowed a Kawasaki ER5, which I hated and failed on that, so then decided to do the test on my 125, be restricted to 33 BHP for two years then I would automatically be upgraded to the full license (different times). The first test I took on my 125 I thought I passed, but the examiner said something about a round about and failed me. I tried again third time and passed. I remember ripping the L plates off and being so excited I forgot to put the fuel tap back on, and chugged to a stop soon after leaving the test centre (doh). Once I got the bike started again, I rode straight to the Kawasaki dealer where I bought my 125 from and bought a zxr400, I had to have a restrictor fitted for two years as it had about 63 BHP, after the two years the restrictor was removed.
@ayserides2 жыл бұрын
I think I should have passed on my second attempt. He failed me on something to do with a mini roundabout but I still don't really know which part he was talking about haha. Yes my first thing to do was to rip the L plates off and ride home! But thank god for fuel injected bikes 😂

kool..would have liked to know what the problem with roundabouts was
@ayserides2 жыл бұрын
I explained a little bit more in my "finally passed my mod 2" video, but the first fail was for cutting across lanes last minute to take an exit and the second was for apparently being too close to the kerb going round a mini roundabout. Although I disagree with that one but hey, the examiner had the final say :)

I passed my mod 1 and 2 with no Minors. I put it down to spending 6 years riding a 125 and having a car licence for 14 years. BUT for mod2 there is a randomness of what you’re faced with on the day. Just be calm and my only tip is, Imagine you’re riding on your own. Do not change your style because of the examiner. That’s it. Best of luck everyone!

I passed my test over 40 years ago but I haven't a clue about what is involved in Mod 2. It was very much simpler then and just had to ride a bike that was below 250cc as a learner. I wanted to hear what AyseRides had to say, even though I'll never be in the position of needing to pass my Mod 2. As usual, her comments were very sensible. I was a bit puzzled about her comment about the bike used in the test being bigger than the one you are used to riding. Can't you use your own bike?
