One guy said, I don't want to hit it with a hammer, it's going to break the crankshaft in half. I always thought if it won't survive that, it wont ever survive running

SBC had harmonic balancers without a bolt that holds them on or installs them. Book would tell you use a 2x4 place on balancer and beat it till it seated.

I have seen these two keys at a engine building event and it was pretty funny seeing them follow each other around. Life is short let it flow and chill lol

I had a question, I have a 350 crate new with roller cam and roller lifters with 9.1.1 compression. Ran 600 miles, ran sae 30 break in oil for the first 600 miles, then changed it. Put 10w 40 oil in it, drove it for 60 miles, then my rockers started to get loose, the self locking nuts won't stay down, and keep getting loose. there's no smoke or any noise. and i know it's not normal, but I'm just curious about what's causing this to happen?? Maybe a bad crank? Do you have any ideas if a bad crank seal is causing this?

I'm new to this stuff but it sounds like vi ration may be playing a part which could probably be caused by a whipping crankshaft

Between the bearing cap near the top and the balance of the crank. NO HARM AND NO FOUL

The screwdriver was a “lever” and went between the top end of the bearing cap and the balance of the crank…NO ISSUES HERE

Can someone please explain why everyone has gone dyslexic? Growing up it’s always been ft lbs, or inch lbs. why has every show I’ve watch lately saying it opposite??

Yall are missing the point of the thrust bearing doing this is unnecessary just let the thrust bearing do its job ...smfh

What a load of shit, thrust bearings aren't designed the way you're describing... and you've missed a pretty vital step of checking the end float. The best practice is to check the end float after torquing each cap. For peace of mind, I like to rotate the shaft in between, too, make sure nothing is binding up.

No, factory engines are only off .010 front too back at the bores and not squared. No biggs though

@@ShaunHensley *_This is a show that fears 20psi of boost on stock motor and pushes ideology of the alphabet agencies that favor removal of older vehicles off the road hence tow industry goes highly unregulated and tows at will. Never seen a professional engine builder do this in any racing event. This is a mean spiteful thing to miss lead commoners of some that don't know better. Note people have recently left the show and already building bigger hp engines and 10 sec pickup trucks. The people who left the show know its a scam drive by nazi alphabet agencies to miss lead you at every corner same they did in car magazines for years._*

@@Thelongmanable We perform thrust readings on massive steam tubines during the build or major overhauls using a lot more force than a small rubber mallet. As long as it’s oil, it’s fine.
