Writing a book is a big project that can be broken down into individual chapters and topics in those chapters. How do you make sure those topics and ideas are going to be useful to your reader? In this video with Julie Broad of Book Launchers she shares two really tactical tips to help you as you write and review a non-fiction book to ensure each chapter packs a punch and a reader readers your book and recommends it to others.

I used your “hook of your book” while writing my non-fiction book. I even rewrote the chapter headings per your suggestion to contain individual hooks. Great idea and it flowed easier with more compelling chapter headings.

Thanks Julie. I really like the Fear/Need mapping. You mention the need for Solution, but might I add a bit more - that is benefit/Value. Is there benefit or value to the reader for what your solution is. We can now create the writers chapter Map - Need, Fear, Solution, Benefit/Value. I can clearly see how this mapping can also help to better align chapters or even merge chapters. This combined with your 'underlining' tip will be helping me as I go forward. Much appreciated.

I will never claim to be a writer but I am certainly a reader of fact. Not all non fiction story lines work with fears and needs as that leads to the self looking intellectual interpretation of the world, conjecture, not fact. Business non fiction books are full of conjecture that everyone can write a counterpoint to another persons conjecture based solution but nobody is really wrong but no one is correct either. Many non fictions books, particularity fact based science do not use fear and needs as fear and need are the basis of fiction. The chapter summary is as easy as a question that both summarizes what they were exposed too and opens the lead to the next chapter.
