Love your tip. I did my Chapter 1 very quickly and dont want to change it because it will lose its voice When I write it quickly, it just sounds like me, and I like it that way, even if its not super great.

Love your video. I wrote my first book with all the mistakes you mentioned. Your video opened my eyes and a went and used your tips. You're not the boring and repeating themself as most youtubers. And I applauded for that.

Thanks Natalia! I have finished my NaNoWriMo novel and planning on editing soon. Will be using this as a guide for me to polishing my chapter one. Oh, one more thing, if it's not too much to ask, would you make a video about Burnout Post NaNo? There's not much video in KZbin tackling this issue after NaNoWrimo.

I agree with #2, however, my chapter starts in 1889 Seattle. My protagonist is out running errands, and I'm using this as a way to show his personality (outgoing, carefree), as well as that of the city. How could I do that, and still start off with a bang and not a yawn?

Would 4 names besides the MC be to much in the 1st chapter if those names are going to be very important later on in the story?

I think it heavely depends on how you are going to write it. I remember reading a book from Sidney Sheldon, The sky is falling, and it pretty much introduced 5 or 6 characters in a row, all of them being relevant to the story lol

i’m ending my first chapter with a cute little comment on how the title makes sense “one down, two to go.” cause they m*rder someone.
