Tip: For precise corrections I tried with great success using a cotton tip swab i.e. Q-tips - dampen one end to erase with accuracy and use opposite end to dry , without affecting surrounding writing. Works very well!

Can you tell me why you use it? I must be missing something because I see no point in it and just got one as a gift. I could just write on normal paper, with a normal pen, and scan it to any cloud service or scan it with an app like Evernote if I wanted it searchable. I've watched several review now and I can't see anything that makes this better than that. In fact it seems way worse as you need to always have this with you, buy and use special pens that take time to dry etc... What am I missing here?
@danielbelousov7423 жыл бұрын
@@sethpeterson8261 you can buy these pans in every store and they are not that special. The point is that the inbuilt software makes scanning easier and the fact the it's erasable allows you to have one notebook at all times.

Your Rocketbook videos are well thought out and presented. I combined the Panda Planner with the Everlast notebook. Simply unbend the top spiral and then simply wind down. It takes seconds. You don't need to buy a larger spiral. It takes seconds once you unbend the first spiral. Don't try to fit both covers. Also, I wet 1/3 of the supplied towel and leave the rest to dry.

Great tips! I’ve learned these along the way through trial and error. It’s been so worth problem solving using this new type of system for me. Your videos have also been a very useful resource. I would add that recently, I use the water pen and have found that I wet the mistake and brush away from other words that I don’t want to erase and that way the ink residue isn’t left around the text I’m trying to keep. Before, I was just kind of brushing any which way and then it would get so close to my other text which would be a frustrating. But yeah basically just erase by dragging towards an empty area, lift and drag, lift and drag away, instead of erasing like you would with an eraser on paper where you keep it on the paper until the writing is gone.

Hey just came back to say that I have recently been using small make up sponges to soak up extra water that may come out from the water brush pen on to the paper and then dry small mistakes. It’s been so helpful. It feels like using little erasers. You can squeeze the sponges enough (which helps with soaking up) when dabbing to erase or cut them as small as you want. I found a bag of them at Walmart for about 3$

Maybe I mis-heard you but did you say you must print letter for handwriting recognition? I've found cursive works fine for recognition as long as your style is "pure" by-the-book cursive. After multiple tests I've also noticed that if your cursive writing is a bit exaggerated...perhaps a bit sloppy, the recognition works even better. I remember when these first came out and wanted to try them. I then promptly forgot about them because i didn't write it down, or I forgot/lost where I wrote it down at. I want to try out one of the executive sizes for work. I often use a Jr. Legal pad for scribbling notes and doing math for my CNC programs. Sometimes specific procedures for certain parts or blueprints I'll write down in case the same job comes in again in the future. The problem I have right now is the 8 inch stack of loose papers, 8x5 notebooks, and legal pads stacked in the top of my toolbox. A repeat job might come in 5 years later. I now have to remember when I last did that job, it's not too hard if it's called the same thing because I can then look up in the network the last time that particular drawing number was used as we back up everything digitally. My notes don't though because they're just for me and the yearly auditor doesn't want those kinds of things in with the office side of things. I do label my notebooks with the years or use it for a particular type of note. 10 years of that though and it gets to be a huge pain trying to remember when we did the job last, did i write notes on it, did i lose the notes, was it called something different then or a ton of other questions that pop up. I've thought about scanning them into my phone but with no good way to search the pictures or lack of time to sit there and put tags on hundreds of notes I just never did. This on the other hand seems to answer just about all of my problems, I can start fresh and keep track of everything that i write down and maybe when i have time i can go back and slowly add in my old notes on all the other jobs that i have done. I might just have to try these out finally, if I don't forget about them by the time I get paid or lose the note I'm about to write to look into these further.

You say "tips and tricks", but some of this is really good basic advice that should have been in the manual. Especially "write at an angle and with a light touch to avoid scratching the surface" and "Don't use the eraser, use a water-brush pen" (or as someone else suggested here, a damp cotton swab). I also appreciate how you re-iterated/clarified the importance of cleaning the pages within 30 days. The manual just says "when you don't plan to use it for a month or longer". I just received a Rocketbook Fusion as a gift and I'm glad I found your videos before I started using it. I do have one question, though. I understand that yes, there is something special about the Pilot FriXion pens and those should be used exclusively, but can you confirm that the microfiber towel is just a microfiber towel and any microfiber towel will work? Even old ones that went in the laundry? Does it even have to be a microfiber towel? Is the important part wetting it down and wiping it away? Or will different materials damage the pages? Could paper towel be used?
@JakeReevesVideo2 жыл бұрын
Any microfibre towel will do. Just make sure it is soft and doesn’t have anything on it (oils, etc) that would contaminate or scratch the page surface. I regularly hand wash mine.

Hi Jake. Thanks for your review. I would like to clarify, can ALL Frixion pens be used for the Rocketbook or only a limited set? I am also curious to how well the highlight shows after scanning. Does it affect the visibility of the notes written below (assuming it was already dry when highlighting) Also, since the Rocketbook app functions as a scanning app, does that mean that I can actually use ANY PEN on the paper, however, Frixion is of course recommended because of its formula and how easy it is to clean them off the pages. Appreciate your view and response. Thank you!
@JakeReevesVideo4 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for the comment. You should be good to use any FriXion pens on the Rocketbooks. Other pens will not work because they won't erase and if you can remove them, you'll likely damage the Rocketbook's surface coating, which is its key to readability. For highlighters, it is best to use the FriXion highlighters when the text is dry because it will smudge the ink below. I made this video that will help answer many of your questions: kzbin.info/www/bejne/opeqk2OAgZ6Xqqc I hope this helps!

FYI a more recent comment suggested printing out the practice templates he talked about, laminating them, using sharpies, and then "washing" with anything alcohol-based. She uses alcohol prep pads for small corrections. I suspect that you could also use the pens intended for overhead transparencies on laminated paper which would allow you to use regular water to clean them.

Thank you for the tips. This is my first introduction to Rocketbook as a gift. My job involves me working with many school districts and large projects for education. If I need to do an idea page for a project, how does it work if its an ever-evolving and ever-developing item? Like a running list of ideas for a presentation? If I am erasing daily my page, how do I add to the list? Do I do it on the saved document I scanned?
@JakeReevesVideo3 жыл бұрын
There are a lot of different things that will help with evolving projects. The first is Rocketbook's Smart Lists feature, which allows you to add items to a bulletin list, then when scanned you can choose which of the smart lists you've made within the App that you want to add the items to. Another consideration is that you have about 30-days to leave the ink on the page before it will stain - so if you have an evolving mind map, you can just add to it over that time, then scan at the end. Unfortunately, there isn't yet a way to automatically overwrite a previous scan, but I'm still optimistic that they will eventually add some sort of edit feature within the App for post-processing. If you're new to the system, you may find my 'Everything Rocketbook' playlist helpful ✌

On erasing small/short mistakes, I wonder how a damp q-tip would work, then just blotting with a tissue or the included microfiber if it were dry. I'm thinking that a few damp q-tips could go in a snack-size ziploc bag, in purse, backpack, pocket, whatever, the kleenex/cloth wherever. Quite portable and cost-effective, and if the q-tips started drying out, a few drops of water into the ziploc would increase their dampness. If they get funky, throw it all out and start over. Cheap DIY vs a $10 aquapen, also perhaps not so wet. NOTE: I only ordered my Rocketbook, so my idea is merely "untested theory!" :-)
@JakeReevesVideo4 жыл бұрын
That's a good idea too. I've seen people suggest that in forums as well. I went with a water pen because it felt like a more polished product, but hopefully Rocketbook will adapt the best of both methods into an eraser pen soon. Thanks for watching and sharing your ideas!
@maryl.72264 жыл бұрын
@@JakeReevesVideo It would be great for the company to make something ingeniously designed for the RB! Meanwhile, I certainly agree that the Aquapen is just a tad more classy and dignified than a fuzzy Q-tip in a rumpled ziploc bag! Oh well!

You then log into the appropriate service and select the sub-folder in which you want to save the files. That's it. It's about as easy as logging into any of those services on their own. Great review and tips! Do you know someone left-handed using the rocketbook? I fear it could be difficult due to time the ink needs to dry. Also, the spiral bindings doesn't seem super-comfortable to us left-handed people.

Murphy700018 I’m left handed the only problem I had so far is smudging the very top lines. I bought the 5mm pens but honestly the pen included is good enough. What nice is the pen doesn’t bite into the paper like other paper so you get a smoother writing experience.

@JakeReevesVideo5 жыл бұрын
Hi Sara, yes you could set up the icons that way. You would just want to create separate folders for each class in one of OneDrive, Google Drive or Dropbox, etc. Then point each of the icons to the respective folder for each class. I hope this helps! 👍

I was curious about this too. I went ahead and made a template for “Cornell Style” for O-Chem, but also purchased a stencil that is the size of a credit card/keychain to use for hectograms etc. I’m in my 30’s so used to pen/paper notes, but young enough to appreciate technology to make it easier! You can always make your bookmarks that can help you separate your notes. For anatomy I have a skull, physiology an arm flexing and also a heart ( not a little girl heart, but a heart organ).

Don't need to buy the notebook. Print the templates and laminate them. I use a thin sharpie in all colors. It easily wipes clean with rubbing alcohol or hand sanitizer, anything alcohol based. I keep medical alcohol pads for clean up. This hack can be 100% customizable with colored paper, differant sized paper, differant bindings you can think up. I keep mine in a 3 ring binder. Litterally any pen or paper can be used, so long as you have that QR code on it.

I'm curious regarding smudging since I am left handed. When I use a pencil, I tend to smudge. I also have a hard time holding the pen or pencil perpendicular as write. ( jel pens are not my friend). Any comments would be appreciated. This system is the perfect answer when it comes to organizing and keeping everthing in one booking system. Thank you.
@JakeReevesVideo3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, if you smudge with normal pen/pencil and paper, you will smudge even worse with Rocketbook. The synthetic paper makes the FriXion ink act like gel pens that don't dry for about 15s after you write... sorry to be the barer of bad news.

I'm a lefty. Sounds like you need to reposition your notebook and paper! hahaha. When I learned to print, write, everyone positioned the paper angled to the left. Question Jake - If the rocket book page ( Everlast or Fusion) gets discoloured is there any way to clean it without ruining the page ? I read somewhere hand sanitizer can do the trick ? Question - Irrespective of the angle I write on - I see ghosting from the pens - does it mean I simply press too hard ? Question - must the water be warm ? Question - is it an issue if you don't wash the clothes that frequently and why ? I watched your one video, and loved it - hit subscribe straight away, many thanks !
@JakeReevesVideo4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! I'm glad you enjoyed my videos 👍 I would NOT use hand sanitizer. Rocketbook has said that alcohol can cause the dots to wear off. I've seen Rocketbook say that the best thing to do would be to wash it off with very hot water - but be careful not to burn yourself. The ghosting could be a function of writing too hard, but if that were the case you would probably also see dents from the pen in the page. The problem may be with not rinsing the cloth frequently enough. The problem is that all the ink from your pages gathers in the cloth, then it can get smeared on the pages. This would be more of an issue if you take a lot of full page notes and erase many at once. Try cleaning the cloth more frequently and see if that helps. The water does not need to be warm for day to day cleaning, room temperature is fine.

FriXion pens are from Pilot, and are available quite readily in office stores where you would buy other pens, or on Amazon. So depending on where you live, it may not be a big deal. The FriXion pens are the only pens you can use though. Otherwise other pens will ruin the pages and not erase. You can also just buy the replacement ink, as opposed to a whole pen, which will save some money. Good luck with your decision.

From my experience: even with properly moistened cloth or sponge there is a constant struggle with smudges from ink. It's so annoying. After wiping off few pages, either sponge or cloth needs to be washed under running water (as it gets dirty from ink pretty fast). Rocketbook is promoted as ecological alternative to traditional paper, but the frequent need to use water contradicts, IMHO, the very idea of environment-friendly device. I am planning to save money to buy an electronic notebook. In the meantime I will stick to traditional notebooks.

How do we use your referral code if we go to a different amazon page? How does this work? Did you make a very basic video showing step by step what you do and how it works?

Amazon affiliate links work so that if you click on the link, it doesn't matter what you ultimately buy, the person who's link it is will get a small commission. So if you click a link to a Rocketbook for example, then on Amazon you search for pens and buy pens, even though the pens weren't what was linked to, the person will still get a small commission if you buy the pens. I hope that answers your question. My first Rocketbook video shows quickly how the books work. I have a whole playlist on the Rocketbooks as well 👍
