If the interview style video isn't something you're interested in, skip ahead to 21:37 and take tips from someone who's built millions in homes.. He explains a lot of great information on framing details, why his insulation contractor is the first to get called, how he monitors his builds and more..

Loved this video! The longer format was interesting and informative to watch. That house is going to be very comfortable and quiet to live in. All the extra work and materials shows that the builder cares about quality. I liked the idea of spray foaming the interior before the trades come in. Seems like the best option for a clean install. Second floor laundry with the bedrooms upstairs is a great design. With how well engineered today’s appliances are and the offset stud framing with the rock wool insulation you will never hear anything from this room. The cottage addition is a great solution for an ADU or college student. Thanks for sharing Matt.

So, I found this hammer, one like I’ve never seen before. I asked a friend, who is a builder, like you, what kind of hammer it is. He informs me that it’s a carpenter’s hammer, and that it was indeed a lucky find. He then forwarded your KZbin channel info to me. So cool to see this work in action, as well as to be educated on it. You, my friend, are a true Master.

Amazing! This gentleman and your family business are top notch. I like that your audience can be anyone at any level. There is something for all skill levels, trades, homeowner or client just looking for ideas and education of the process. At first I was intimidated by the types of homes you showcase and the budgets they have but that’s ok. I’m going to have a really well built modest home because of what I’ve learned here and with products you’ve shown and explained.

Love your videos, have been watching since the winery series first came out, love seeing how you guys build over in the states, completely different to how we do over here in the uk, but that is what’s great! we have different methods, but the outcome is still amazing, taking a bunch of material and making something that is gonna last years! Please bring back the podcast too, that is funny, an easy listen and proper informative. Keep smashing it Matt, I love my trade and it’s great to see you do as well

I'm a General Contractor in Montana. I'm originally from SoCal. Construction up here is so much different due to climate and other factors. I love your style of framing and in fact, have changed the way I frame a little bit after watching your videos. You have a very clean and efficient way of building and the way you thoroughly explain what you are doing is very helpful. Longer videos like this one are definitely helpful by allowing people to see a more in depth way of how other Contractors construct their projects. This video brings me back to working with my old man. He's still a GC in Orange County and has a very similar style to this guy in the video. Keep up the good work Matt, love your content.

Is it just the salt water from the oceans that effects nails, or would you recommend someone building around the great lakes also take similar precautions?
@MattBangsWood

Salt water is huge for it, not just moisture itself. Our buildings are constantly battling moisture, but mix in salt life and it’s a whole different story.

Paraphrasing what he said about the community, "Space is constrained, but we don't want to allow ADUs". How does that make sense. If you're space constrained, density is what you want. Though I guess people spending millions to tear down houses and rebuild them don't exactly like the idea of having middle class families living near them.
