Thanks for the tip. I realized after a few mins of shooting, the camera would weigh heavily and I'd start shaking while shooting, which resulted in me missing focus. I will try this. Thanks man!

Good reminders on holding/shooting technique for a sharp picture, but for me ... I would pump up my ISO a bit to make sure I got a faster shutter speed that I was happy with.
@924PHOTOGRAPHY

Mark Thomas absolutely! But practicing with lower shutter speeds helps to perfect your form and nailing the shot. Of course we will bump up the ISO to insure we nail in a job. Well i know i do. It’s just good practice that has helped me though out the years.

You better double, triple, quadruple your shutter speed with higher megapixel sensors, otherwise you still get camera shake if not steady enough. Also wide open on a 35mm is way easier than like my 105mm 1.4E without sensor of lens stabilization. Great video anyway like always ✌️

I love your images.. I've learn a lot from your KZbin keep up the good work... So I thought I could shoot like you... My Canon gear was stolen and I recently purchased the A7 iii. And I have yet to get my off camera flash (the sony hvl 45) to work with my Godox trigger nor with the hvl 20. I guess my question is does the off camera flash only work with the R iii and better? And this sony ( I'm new to Sony , one week in ) interface has created some issues for me, any pointers coming from canon to sony?

Hi Keydrin, here Pablo from Argentina. I wonder how to get sharp ears while shooting wide open, let say at 1.8. I've seen some pictures even shot at 1.2 that skin details and ears are tack sharp. Is that possible? Depends on the movement or has nothing to do with? I wonder if they use a tripod for portraits. Any advice would be highly appreciated. Cheers dude!

Pablo Doncor tripods certainly help and backing up to widen the focal plane while shooting wide open the cropping in post to the desired composition.
@pablodoncor
@pablodoncor 5 жыл бұрын
@@924PHOTOGRAPHY Thank you Keydrin. So, it's better to be two steps back in order to get a higher DOF and then crop in post. Right?
@924PHOTOGRAPHY
@924PHOTOGRAPHY 5 жыл бұрын
Pablo Doncor correct. If you’re shooting a higher megapixel camera you have the room to crop in post. Just be mindful of that, and if all else stop down and add blur back in post if necessary.

Not to ruffle any feathers but purchasing a Sony Emount (with Eye af) isn't always the right answer. There are people that are not only loyal to their brand but also just don't have the money for it. That said, I do own an A7iii. HOWEVER, I started out on the A700 and worked my way up. While the Canon and Nikon user bashed me for my choice, I steadily used techniques like Keydrin is describing here to get awesome and really sharp shots. So to us that have the advance Sonys, relish at the moment. For the others, keep pushing and use the techniques here to improve your image quality.
@924PHOTOGRAPHY
@924PHOTOGRAPHY 6 жыл бұрын
coast2coastimagery you’re absolutely right, and to be honest i still use these techniques even with my Sony cameras. I’ve used Nikons since I’ve been shooting and it’s just a habit in shooting like this now i have to say it is nice not to have to tuck all the time with the Sony! When i use the Canon 400mm f2.8 on the Sony A9 or A7riii i definitely have to tuck for that beast haha
@coast2coastimagery
@coast2coastimagery 6 жыл бұрын
LOL! Good point. You do see people tend to drift back to sloppy techniques just because a camera has an ability to "compensate" for it. I still use an old school Minolta 80-200 G and Carl Zeiss 135mm 1.8 screwmounts made for the Sony A-mount cameras from time to time. Eye af doesn't work on those and they're heavy as a tank so "free-style"/ shooting from the LCD screen isn't the best options in the world.

Great tips but It's very rear to using 1/30 sec Sutter speed with handheld even with mirrorless with ibis. There is no reason to go that low with shutter speed when you can adjust so many things and avoid to using low Sutter speed and you still getting sharp images. I understand that it's sounds good to say that but in the reality to using 1/30 sec Sutter speed it's just not going to happen with handheld.
