Beautiful. I am new to quilting and had no idea about this technique. Thank you so much. Divides a big section into such managrable units!

I’ve just started FMQ on my new Janome M7 Continental machine. I’ve been doing this kind of “doodling” and didn’t know there was a real name for it! Your videos are so helpful! And I love how you just fly around with your longarm!

I’ve just discovered your KZbin channel and I think your videos are extremely well done. I’d like to echo what other people have said about how great the audio and visual components of your videos are. It helps to make the quilting process so much easier to relate to. Thank you so much!

Thank you so much for this video, I've wanted to learn McTavishing for a long time but I just didn't get it. This is the clearest explanation of McTavishing that I've seen! I think I'm finally ready to try it.

Liz Xu Wilson , I'm so glad this was of help. Everyone's hand will create a different look, making it their own thumbprint so to speak. I hope you get to give this a whirl!

I have been doing this but I called it doodle quilting or zentangle quilting. Love the flower idea.

Quilters may call it McTavishing. Art Journalers call it zen tangle. Awesome lesson. Thank you!

I really really liked your work. I do quilting on Juki tl-2010q. I was thinking of buying stitch regulator without frame. Do you think, it will help?

Thank you! I usually quilt at 12 to 14th stitches per inch. This video was shot on my first longarm, which was a well used A1. I traded that one in and now use an Innova. if you watch more of my videos, you might see when I switched over. Thank you for your kindness. I hope you have a wonderful evening.

Ive tried this. Looked pretty good, Id like to try again after seeing your video. Do you quilt with or without your stitch regulator?

Ann Philbeck, glad to hear! I usually stitch with the stitch regulator. I’m just used to it.

I personally don’t like this look. It just looks like a lazy mess to me and I would be upset if someone did this on one of my quilts.
