Tips on removing the engine from a 09 Camry 2.4 Hybrid

I find it easier to remove the intake manifold and remove the wire harness and keeping the ones going to the transmission untouched.

Did you have to disconnect the regular battery or the hybrid battery before disconnecting the starter or anything ??

I got every connector off around the convertor except the ground which is directly under the plate the inverter sits on. Do I have to remove the inverter to get to it?

The engine had a really bad rod knock n was not repairable under the price I found another engine for! Thanks for watching

I, too, am facing a Camry hybrid engine replacement for my son's 2007 that he ran out of oil (ouch!). I have the factory service manual and their method seems a lot harder than yours, General Mechanic. They pull the engine and transaxle as a unit while you leave the transaxle in the car and remove the exhaust manifold and lower engine mount still in the car. Brilliant! Did the replacement engine go back in as smoothly? I wish you had a video of that. Also, is there anything you wish you had included in this video looking back on the project? We're still waiting for the replacement 53K engine (old engine was 175K) so we're trying to plan ahead. Thanks!

Well yes this is a straight back and forth job Very simple if you pay attention on all the movements you have to do to pull engine out so it’s just. A puzzle just use the same technique

Well I have a home made A frame that got from the shop owner Has a huge chain crane if I’m not wrong is 10 or 12 ton chain drop So thats what we use to hold and pull the big ones Also I use a lot to swap chevy transmission to hold engines up while working on them As my shop is small and don’t have a lift yet Working on buying one in future

hello after changing the engine the car no longer starts and displays check the hybrid system and check the vsc system. the mechanic had dismantled the inverter.

Well a decent scanner would help to see why But i had the same problem on a Highlander and we had left the power wire to the inverter loose So would be a good idea to check that out Also low inverter fluid will cause a check hybrid light to come on!..

This engine has different camshaft. The lobes are shaped differently.

Yes you could if a lift is precent I found that without it pulling it up is the easier way

Hola compañero buenas noches Gracias por el video y la información me gustaría saber qué es el mismo procedimiento de cambiar ese motor esto me parece que es un manual pero el que yo tengo es un automático es el mismo procedimiento para quitar o hay una diferencia al respecto de quitar el motor contra la transmisión si hay una diferencia entre automático y manualte quitado yo los cinco tornillos o cuatro tornillos del motorautomático que no sea híbrido pero en este caso es híbrido es el mismo procedimiento quitar el 4 o 5 tornillos del flywheel

por ejemplo el sistema que genera la carga del híbrido no está colocado entre la transmisión y el motor disculpa mi ignorancia Yo pensaba que el sistema que genera carga para el híbrido estaba metido entre la transmisión y el motor nada más eso quiero saber en el automático si no está metido ahí dónde está metido la turbina de la transmisión y el flywheel

El motor del invertidos si! Pero el híbrido que yo sepa solo vino automático así que este carro en mi video si es Automotivo y si su carro es híbrido no hay nesecidad de desconectar el flywheel por que esta ensamble como un manual solo se despega el motor de la transmisión y sale para fuera

Mmm I really cant say Remember the transmission is the one hybrid if im not wrong so either way hybrid will stay on the car So i don’t really know what you asking Like if the engine you get is not hybrid it still should work cause you can swap the flywheel and be done But to bypass hybrid I don’t think you have too much of options there This is my way to look at it tho some one else may have better answer to this..
