Hey everyone! This is part 2 (of... something) in a series about preparing for the GMAT, taking the actual test, and what to consider when applying to and accepting graduate school results.
I wanted to share these tips I've gathered and used first-hand in avoiding paying stupid-loads of money to test-prep centers. Literally a few hours a day, studying EFFICIENTLY, and a game-plan is all you need.
If you found this useful, consider helping me out @ / btong or donating to paypal.me/bbtong ! Patreon tiers include 1:1 emails and support with me.
p.s., so sorry for the delay!

Absolutely on-point, no-nonsense educating video. I must say, you have shared some really useful tips for GMAT takers. Thanks you for the time and effort you have put into this. Appreciate it sincerely. I am taking it up after a career break and maternity, so researching on the internet was a little daunting. Yet, yours is by-far the most succinct, simple and clear guidelines i have seen. Thanks again. ,😊🙏🏽

Yeah I guess I should be more focused on the math. I’m worried about the sentence correction, but that’s just practice really. I’m good at the critical reasoning though. Take in a couple weeks and I’m very underprepared. I have the books and whatnot, but I don’t know if that’s the best way, as the explanations aren’t great.

Great advices, thanks Bryan. Just one thing: going through questions on the Forum seems a little inefficient compared to purchasing some questions banks with very quick transitions between one question and the next one. Don't you think they're worth the investment?
@Baober
@Baober 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Bruno, I think if, in the ratio of money:time, you have enough money to help optimize the quality of question banks and time efficiency, it's a worthwhile trade-off. However, I didn't see it worth spending any money on test prep beyond the GMAT official tests.

I feel like being a native English speaker is not giving that big of an advantage because colloquial speech forces bad habits upon you as it is usually far from perfect and the mistakes are generally accepted to be part of normal speech.
@Baober

Good point! The GMAT definitely focuses on proper English rules, and lots of native speakers definitely don’t have that knowledge

So assuming I don't have a Math background, or speak English as a first language, how long in general should I plan to study?
@Baober
@Baober Жыл бұрын
I can’t give you a concrete answer, but assume much longer. I would focus on English fluency first, a lot more points get lost there. Math is a more universal language. Hope it helps.

For those confused: Look up some speed reading concepts. Chunking and avoiding “saying” every word in your head is crucial. Lot’s of tutorials on KZbin, but it was also taught in high school (USA) for me. This is common with many engineers, lawyers, to get a brief concept of a passage before picking sections to read in depth. It’s simply a poor use of time to 100% comprehend every word in a passage when you KNOW there are filler sentences on purpose. The GMAT expects you to learn to speed read, even at a slower pace.
