Absolutely banger content, you cover every single detail. Do you intend to create a video about fainting and the importance of slow attacks? I think new players sees them as merely "baiting counter tools" or like "why would I do them if I can just spam fast attacks instead" so they end up never using them, but they're so useful to bypass the parry hitbox (heavy overhead + drag)

Same. For Honor feels too woke for me now even after they first launch Marching Fire for the chinese investors, now they're just fully catering to memes like it's Fortnite. Even after 2 years, I regret not picking this game up when it released. The game is far simpler in controls but just as complex as the combat because every movement counts and seems fair enough.

6:58 Benefit of countering a heavy. Sometimes they cannot defend themselves fast enough depending on how they manipulated their swing. Whether it was an accel or drag. Since your are throwing an attack while they are still within their attack animation sometimes you just get free damage

I thought that my 150 hours taught me well, but I didnt know about arrow counter and that fact, that heavies doesnt stop on counter. Also, rumours say that you can counter flying fire pot... Wait, the slashes etc dont need to be mirrored exactly? I've been trying to train my eyes to recognise right and left sided slashes and then pressing the corresponding button...often incorrectly. This makes things much more simple!

It is definitely cheesy and goes against the rest of the combat logic in the game. Essentially if you get hit, you should not be able to strike back if your opponent is preparing a combo swing as you dont have initiative.

I got a bit lost towards the end, how do you counter feint? A counter is when you block and match the same attack as the enemy right? So what is a feint of that, just blocking again?

Think of it like feinting any other swing. For regualr swings you input an attack, then during windup input a different attack to feint into. For a counter feint you simply start the counter and then input a different swing type during the counter windup. This allow you to correct a mistaken counter attempt without getting punished. You can also use it as a mixup on your opponent. Counter their attack successfully then feint that attack into a different one to stop them from countering you back. 😄

I've watched this video weeks ago and been very useful for my duels. by any chance, can light attacks counter a heavy attack? I assume that it can't

It is possible to counter a heavy attack with a light one. You just have to be careful that you dont counter too soon. Since the heavy attack takes longer to come out, if you react to quickly with a counter of your own, their attack might bypass your counter window. Just need to delay your counter attempt if you anticipate a heavy swing. If you accidently counter to early against someone doing a heavy attack you can feint your counter into the same swing in order to catch them 😁

Im confused are you pressing the specific attack button while still holding L2 during the counter? Or are you letting go of L2 after the block and then pressing the same attack type as ur opponent?

Keep holding block while inputting your attack. It will say "counter" on screen.

You can counter any projectile with any type of counter. Slash, stab, or overhead, whatever you like 😁

I counter (yellow shield) every time and then hit a swing button but almost always enemy blocks it. What I do wrong?

Try to maneuver your swing to get around your opponent's block. You can use feints to bait them one way and hit them from another. Block protects people from the front but not their sides or back, so keep practicing that footwork! Can always try and drain their stamina enough too so they can't block.

I dont believe that it extends the parry window but it definitely carries the current active parry window into the feinted counter. This allows you some protection while feinting your swing for a mixup.

If im understanding correctly, you want to counter with a right-handed swing instead of left-handed? To do that on PC, you need to hold the ALT key while you counter. If it's on console, you would need to hold whatever button flips your attack side.

Im using a counter swing to interupt my opponents combo and steal the initiative. In normal circumstances, if I were to try and swing back id get hit since you can't swing back immediately after taking a hit. But you can BLOCK immediately after a hit. Since counter comes from block, I can use this in place of a regular swing and try and interupt my enemy's combo. Doesnt work all the time but if you have a fast enough weapon and the enemy has a slow one, you can use a counter swing after getting hit to steal initiative and strike when normally you cant.

The best way is to join a duel server from the server browser. It's technically an FFA server, but if the name says "duel," people will respect the 1v1.

A riposte is when you block the attack and then swing back. A counter is when you input an attack while holding block. If you input the same attack type as the opponent, your swing will block theirs. If you dont input the same attack type, you will get hit.
