My favorite unit is definitely thief tank. They are pretty much invulnerable aside from damage from archers. And it can easily be covered with characters with shield support skills, and you can make it activate only when archers attack.

Id love a video where you play on expert or the ng+ difficulty and you find one of those random overworld enemies that you have to beat in one round to get 2 honor. Find one that Initially beats all your units and then take us thought the process of figuring out a squad to beat it. It's such an engaging rewarding process when you pull it off. I'll happily spend hours in my game doing just that.

Favorite tip so far: siege weapons don't have a cool down. It's the unit whose wait period is active. This can be abused in a few ways, namely using jump on a siege weapon to get a first strike in. More importantly, by spamming abilities or items that reduce wait time to zero, you can fire off all five shots of a catapult rapid-fire. This can turn a few battles in Bastorias into an absolute joke. But it can also, with a double xp buff, let you put a bunch of weak units together, go grab a catapult and absolutely wreck face, gaining double digit levels in seconds.

I usually try to avoid these videos during my first playthrough as i really want to figure it out myself but the algorithm got me to click. Fantastic video with a lot of great advice. The three house's theme couldnt be more perfect. I spent over 150 hours in three houses. I fear im going the same route with this game.

Great info all around! I can't believe I didn't think about mantlet, although I tended to use the "0 stamina" wall technique. If enough enemies are moving towards you, you can actually "move" your 0 stamina around by constantly swapping up.

I wanted to add some extra clarification to one of the points you made since I keep seeing people confused about this: 'Activates at the start of battle' is not actually the relevant line of text here, although it's the most obvious. LIMITED is. The Limited ruleset applies to every 'round' of combat, not just start of battle abilities So, as the video points out, having multiple 'activates at the start of combat' abilities with the limited tag... only 1 can trigger. But it applies to other skills on each round. So if you have Chloe set to use her 'keen' ability to give someone a 100% crit chance, and have another character trying to use Gambler's Coin.. both of them have the limited tag, so the only one that will activate is the one with the faster initiative

One stratategy i use is always put loestt hp on my last attack order in priority. That way, if i have not an specific attack ocurred the generic attack will hit the character with a higher propobility of dying

Nice tips. I utilized the position change and attack priorities on my first few hours. I was wondering if I can make my team survive on that one attack that will wipe my squad. And it actually works. After that, I do it every fight haha. Its very good as I can change my tank on the fly since other tanks are weak with certain attacks.

You can also use the Arbalist's smoke bolt to neutralize assists.

That's generally better, otherwise you have to wait for them to walk into you. I think video didn't mention the healer was pulled off the tower, but it was still active! It will not have the 50% bonus effectiveness but it will still contribute. Smoke will completely neutralize it unless you can send a unit to kill it

Something to add to your tips don't mock battle at forts instead head over to coliseum and do auxiliary battles they are easy enough to beat to test and also build coliseum coins for end game gear. Another thing is idealistic hand mirrors are available for 30 honor from an NPC in Albion as well so they can be unlimited

You can change leaders of units that are deployed mid map for 1 Valor Point. It’s great for mobility it or an on the fly assist.

everything is custoisable at any point in time. you can change your weapons right before fight too. the character can share a good sword or shield if there's a case for that. But I tend to challenge myself by not changing anything right before fight, and try to make most teams all rounded

For healers I prefer to use《Lowest 💚 HP》 and 《Lowest 💚 % HP 》over lets say 《Below xx% HP》because otherwise lets say at 76% HP, they won't heal units even if the battle is about to end. Meaning wasted heals for future battles and dangerous in next battles if they're not at full health . Also if you're using tanky units with more HP in the front, make sure to set healers to 《Lowest 💚 % HP 》instead of 《Lowest 💚 HP》, otherwise your healer will keep healing your back row mage with 20 max HP instead of your 21/50 HP frontal tank.

I dont think [lowest HP] is a good condition for heals. A full health damage dealer will still have less hp than a wounded tank. So the healer will wiff the heal on the squishy dps.

Other games grant you extra stats if you hold your units as basic, but I dont know if in Unicorn you can promote them as soon as you can

Thank you! Promote as soon as you can. It will unlock more AP, PP, and extra skills you can learn. Thief with the aoe blind skill is very powerful imo. And of course to promote Alain asap. Other than that, promote as you see fit.

Improvisation is constant because either side can't know everything about the other and the stakes are high. Not even the US military with all the numbers and bells and whistles have been able to completely rout the Vietnamese for example. If you've read or lived through that (or any other war) , you know tactics were constantly shifting by necessity. Trying to brute force or coast your way to victory is not only not that fun but also unrealistic. In all human and non human struggles dynamism and adaptation almost always wins

You can for sure sink a ton of time into the game. I spent far more time in my true zen run compared to my first expert run. (Partly because I did expert out of order by mistake and ended up skipping some side things). Between making new builds, squads, and more, this game is such a blast.

I go back when experimenting with thigs. During battle you can press X (switch version) and it shows you the details of the skill being used in real time. Its useful to see when things are being done so you can modify your party.​@Blood_Ronin

How impactful is the growth type and the ascension? I mean, as the level is lower those stats will end up being bigger? Due to being ascended Units get bigger numbers as they level up and in the growth type the way stats are distributed

It doesn't make a huge difference, but can certainly help. Characters like druids for example don't need accuracy since their skills are true.

To answer your question, you can promote a unit any level : the final stats will remain the same.

I would say one of the most important uses is changing units to go getter cause while 2 or 3 atk and HP don't make a huge different 3 or 4 initiative can change around a teams whole turn order initiative is probably the most important stat in the game

Nah, I am playing on an Oled. I am honestly not sure. It may be from overeating maybe when I went to record. I downloaded it from the nintendo store, so not sure if that makes a difference in physical copy or digital. Edit, when I don't have it docked it doesn't have the issue. So I'm not entirely sure :(

Just a tip. When you use a "prioritize" condition for a skill in both conditions 1 & 2 it will always use condition 2 because condition 2 will override condition 1.

@@Blood_Ronin Yeah the game isn't very good at explaining how the conditions work. How it works is condition 1 is processed THEN condition 2. So if you want to prioritize a skill for different classes in a particular order you have to add the skill to a new row in the tactics and use the row order to handle priority.

Also keep in mind if u set e.x. prioritize armored on innocent ray on first priority, u will never get the results of your other tactics below that priority, except she has only 1 ap left. Prioritize will try to make your condition happen (e.x. aim at armored enemy) but will cast the spell if there is no armored enemy anyway. So it will never check the following tactics since it always will fulfill that tactic. I see those prioritize errors in a lot of your setup. Same goes for your active steal setup. Toxic Throw will only trigger if Travis has only 1 AP left and Passive Steal will never happen.

The free assist is handy, provided those units are not attacked. You'd also need to carry a lot of mantles if you are dropping them often. Switching unit positions during a match is handy. This would be the same with switching up your skill conditions to target specific enemies, such as pesky ranged enemies in the back row. For changing the unit leader, that does not affect the unit speed on the map. Mobility speed is determined by the average speed of all members in the unit. If you want to speed up the unit, you need to swap slower members for faster ones or use a speed boosting skill etc. Blind is an interesting skill. I need to play with that one more. I'm currently using a desert staff with my Shaman to inflict blind on the whole enemy unit at start of battle. It seems like some skills will still hit though but I forget which ones right now.

The speed one you mentioned isn't necessarily true. Switch from a standard infantry to horse, you'll see a difference in speed regardless of who is in your party.

@@Blood_RoninIf you don't swap out members and just pick a Cavalry member as unit leader versus an infantry member, I believe the movement speed should still be the same. The game tips page within the game even mentions that the unit speed is based on the combined members mobility rating.

How many hours did it take you to complete your first run? And is there post game of any kind or just the new difficulty

There is 2 things considered post game. A final mission that without spoilers will allow you to recruit certain characters from the story that you couldn't normally have, including enemies. The other is if you consider the unlockable mode or pvp in the colosseum as end game. It took me about 40ish hours to clear on expert. This is with doing majority of the content. Sadly, I did things out of order and it caused a lot of my squad to over level aspects of the game. So a lot of side quests were skipped due to that reason. I imagine with more time taken into doing side missions and more you can easily get 50 hours+

As a high end estimate I beat it just under 80 hours completing everything 100% and without going out of order. I also spent probably 15 to 20 hours over optimizing squads though

People may not know this, but in terms of getting equipment for teams for these fights you can open the menu with the - button and see every town that has not been rescued/rescued, but if you use the d pad with the yellow buttons while in there you can scroll between accessible towns, forts, rapport scenarios, and other locations like black market dealers. If you then press the x button on say the fort or towns page you can see exactly which mercenaries or pieces of equipment you can buy from a particular place. Also, rapport gives bonuses but doesn't tell you what they are directly. You can actually see what they are by looking at the individual character page (even during battle and using the r button to scroll to the third page I believe to get that information. Aubin, for example gets more magic defense, accuracy, and guard rate from Alain I believe.

You can also use Smoke Bomb 1 or Smoke Bomb 2. It doesn't pull them out of the tower but it negates any unit's assist attacks in the area of effect.

Orge battle 64 didnt really explain things well either and I wish they would have gotten it right this time around.
