He’s so neat! About 18 years ago I met a female. Lily. I’m thinking she was about 7 to 10 years then. I’m guessing she near 30 now! She’s got her own outdoor habitat with a babbling brook and pond! But she still sleeps in the house at the foot of the bed! She has spineless prickly pear fruit, apple, peach, and pear trees. She has her own garden with several different types of berries, lettuces and other garden greens and herbs! They also have a nice greenhouse that keeps her stocked up on fresh produce year round and also houses 10 hibiscus bushes and other nectar-ricious blossoms for her yum-yum pleasure! She also has an avocado tree and banana tree that produce all year round hidden in there! She’s very friendly! And she enjoys a good scratchen session with a hand broom! It’s all I do when I’m visiting! Very cool!

You should look into Photogrammetry to get a 3d scan of his shell (and maybe of him if he can hold still for video or many photos). You could do this every year and see how his shell grows/changes in 3d over time.

Caitlin, had a different tortoise owner’s vid. I must say there is no one like you. I know you have a background in teaching, so you have a leg up on most, but your vid’s of Tiptoe is much more entertaining. I do have a couple questions to ask. Since Tiptoe is a desert animal, why do you need to check the heat of the pavement? Also, do you feel Tiptoe understands voice commands? Great visiting with you and Tiptoe as always. 🐢

When he's walking in the street, you ought to affix one of those orange "slow moving vehicle" triangles to his rear! That may help prevent an "Obstructing Traffic" citation, or no drivers license in possession, or no license tag displayed. He is a "farm animal" sharing the use of the roads just like an Amish horsey pulling a wagon. Since "Toe" is so strong, perhaps you could fashion a carriage for him to pull you around in, if the cop doesn't believe he is a work animal. At least carry a photo of him pulling a tiny kid in a wagon.

Hi Caitin, I have been watching some of your videos they are very pleasant and entertaining. Also your tortoise appears to be in perfect health. That is not easy to do with reptiles unless you know what you are doing and are very careful. Have you considered using a tortoise cam to get some turtles eye view shots. Your friend looks like a perfect platform for a Go Pro? Just a suggestion.

Sometimes when i take my dog for a walk, he'll just decide hes done. Im fortunate my dog is little and i can carry him. But does tiptoe ever just go "nah" halfway through a walk and refuse continue? If so, how do you get him back home? Sorry if the question has been answered.

Hi Caitlin, have been meaning to send you a message (the family have become big fans of your channel), but have been putting it off (figured you could offer some insight). Am contacting you on behalf of my parents, who have a Sulcata Tortoise like Tiptoe. My father bought him at an animal show, without really realizing what he was initially investing in lol. He’s still technically a baby (only 4 years old), and only weighs about 17 lbs, though is growing quickly. Being from Northern Illinois, the weather is not consistently ideal year round for this specific type of tortoise (only 3-4 months out of the year where the weather is conducive). Right now we keep him inside in a large climate/temperature controlled living space, but due to his growing size, is becoming more of a concern. He has become a part of the family, but with my parents being older, and will not be able to properly care for an animal that has the potential to grow to almost 200 pounds (especially in an area that sees some pretty harsh winters), I was just curious, considering your knowledge and connections, if we decided to re-home him, what steps would need to be taken (agencies we could talk to, etc.)? We’ve looked into a number of avenues, but have not been able to make any headway with finding someone (or somewhere) we feel comfortable with. Thanks in advance, and keep up the good work.
