Good morning C.B., yes tires are a big deal. My F-250 came with Michelins a highway tire, it’s a fine tire if you’re interested in a highway tire, the tread will outlast the sidewall ! On my Toyota Tacoma, I’m on my 3rd set of BF Goodrich’s All Terrain, I love em too. At the Port, we run Toyo Open Country AT Yokohama Geolandar AT Master craft Courser AT Fallen Wildpeak AT all load range E If you aren’t interested in the road hazard, free rotation, etc package, they are cheapest on line, IF YOU CAN GET FREE SHIPPING !!! One last thing, the TPMS sensors, as you know they use a battery ( like a watch battery) the rule of thumb is replace them all, when you replace your tires, that way you’re trouble free for the life of the tires. A good aftermarket replacement is EZ-sensor by Schafer, they are easy to program, and a lot cheaper than OE ford store. Hope this info helps 👍🇺🇸👍🇺🇸👍🇺🇸

Oh - I usually run about 40,000 to 50,000 miles a year, so I change tires about every 2 years. These tires do pretty good in snow & mud even though they look like hiway tires.

I always found alloy wheels were more prone to lose air than steel wheels. Adding slime is more a problem for tire shops than the vehicle owner. Cleaning the slime from the rims is a pain. Thus, tire shops ask customers to refrain from using such sealers. Hope you and yours are safe and healthy. Thanks for sharing.👍

Can’t help you with a single wheel F-250/350 but as far as my F-550 at 17,000 lbs. on a daily basis, I have always run Michelin, Goodyear or Firestone. When I wore out the factory set on my current 2017 truck, I conducted an experiment. Bought a set of Dyna-Trac tires for one third of the price of Michelins to see if they’d last half as long. Problem was, I ran through those tires in 18,000 miles! And, that was after I was doing a 6-way rotation every 10,000 miles! After that, I went from the factory 225 tires up to the 245. Michelins in a 16ply that I run a 100psi in. Best wearing set of tires that I’ve owned so far. Still rotating every 10,000 miles at every other oil change.

New tires just went up, cleaning the rims to install new/ get balanced may be a challenge. Also it may have drowned the tpms if the goop failed to set up. May check the wheel to see if there is a crack in it or a nick or dent maybe just a bit of dirt in the sealing surfaces based of the loads and terrain you probably encounter. There is a range all the sensors are supposed to be within about 10 psi on average. Ambient temperatures changing in a 10 degree swing can cause up to 4psi loss in tire pressure.

C.B. I've also ran BFG's and have had good luck and long life with them. I also use a BFG for my security system, but that's another story. On the death wobble I used to see it all the time on straight axle Fords with coil spring solid front axles. It was mostly Broncos and F150's until they went with the independent front axles. The problem is like you said an out of balance tire or just hitting a bump could set it off and you're right, you almost have to come to a complete stop to get the steering wheel to stop shaking. The problem is, on the solid axle with coil springs Ford uses a what I call a panhard link or bar. If you look under your truck you'll see a bar going from the drivers side frame rail to the right side of the axle. Since coil springs have no support as far as keeping the axle from shifting to the left or right they add this bar. If the ends are worn out or the brackets come loose from the frame or axle, it could start the death wobble, even if the tires are brand new and balanced. I've had this happen and have looked under the truck, only to find powered rust around the bracket bolts indicating they were loose. Tighten the bolts up and the wobble goes away.

I have an F250, I can say after 2 sets of Mickey Thompson tires, I will never buy another set. I have an 02’ f250 and I tow almost everyday, truck and trailer I drive about 20,000 miles per year. I’ve had this truck for 11 years, and it’s 4wd. I’ve had a set of the general tires that look identical to the bfg all terrain, those were good, I had a set of nitto terra grapplers, those were good just not aggressive enough for when I go to the dump. Right now I have a set of Hercules tires, they ride great, they are aggressive enough. The amount of wear at 8,000 miles so far so good. All my driving is small town, no highway driving. Hope this helps.

The only thing I can say is be glad your not a farmer. Just spent $2400 for eight recaps for a hopper bottom trailer. Tractor tires are stupid expensive and down time in the field is without mercy. From viewing some of your videos you diffidently need the best tire you can afford. You know your buddies in the logging business will be calling after a 4” rain or a foot of snow has fallen and the temperature just right to fall off into a 2’ deep mud hole about the length of your truck. I have a utility bed F350 work truck. It came with Goodyears. They rode smoothly and were barely wearing until about 50k miles. I was on the interstate and it started getting a bad vibration. As I started to exit, the left rear blew out and took out my fuel filler and the truck came down on the wheel and dented the wheel.

Tire sealant/slime- Slime works decent & is a budget option.....but Tireject actually works better (but is pricey). Check out Sixtyfiveford & Project Farm's tests. As a Land Surveyor, I run it in all my atv/utv tires. I have had steel atv wheels rust with slime. The tire shop guys aren't fans, (not because it doesn't work) because it is a mess when changing tires.

I've always had good luck - even on much bigger equipment tyres - just pulling the valve core & filling the sealant through it. I think the quality of the goop matters more than how it gets in tbh. Mo ply on a tyre's definitely better. 12 ply stand more abuse by far.
@NBSWELDING2 ай бұрын
I've never been able to get sealer to go in a truck tire that way...even smashed them flat and hooked the sealer with a hose and then jacked the truck up to suck it in but not much went in...never could get it to work for me
@jamesward57212 ай бұрын
@@NBSWELDING we used look after scrap handling equipment that would get punctures for fun - so we had to put 3 or 4 bottles of sealant into every tyre to keep them up - we'd put the valve at 10 o'clock, take out the core, let it blow off, then put the filler tube over the valve & squeeze the bottle - flowed in easily, no drama, not even once. With the sealant in, we'd put the core back in, spin the wheel around for a bit to ensure the sealant coated the inside, then re-inflate. Worked a treat - but I found which sealant we bought mattered - generally, the more expensive industrial stuff worked a lot better than the "DIY" stuff. Those were big tyres too - telehandlers, loading shovels etc. Never had any issues getting the stuff in. Go figure.

That's what my Buddy at the tire shop wants to do...but then Im left with a set of stripped down wheels that I can't use at all. Rock Auto sells new sensors for $22ea that they can program. If I use the 2019 wheels then I'll get new sensors for them.

Why not just find the leak? Take wheel off, dunk in water and find the bubbles. There can only be so many places, the rubber tire itself, bead or valve stem\core, that's it! Sometimes you have to dismount tire & wire brush clean the bead, cause it's leaking there(usually steel wheels do that tho). As for the tires you're gonna get 100 different 'these are the best tires ever' comments, but no one can definitively say as a group one or another is the best! On my '00 f250 7.3 zf6 I've had several that were just fine. Firestone Transforce a2, Kumho Road venture at51, and most recently I got a set of 2 -Atlas Paralleler M\T for $300 delivered to my door. I pay a shop 20bucks to balance & mount, I zip them on the truck. To be honest I've liked all 3 of them & haven't had any problems. It's just hard to say what's the best, but stick with the more well known bigger brands(many smaller brands are owned by big ones, so you're getting same quality tires). I really like the Goodyear wrangler duratrac, or workhorse or several others but they get into expensive territory real quickly $1500+ for a set of 4. Honestly it's a gamble no matter what you buy cause you could drive over a piece of steel, shred the sidewall\tread on a tire or 3 then be out $$ right then & there. BFG just came out with a new updated ko2, it's called the ko3 now & slightly improved the tread blocking & it's been getting very good reviews too. So check them out, there's many tire reviews on here to check out too! Good luck hunting!👌🏻👍🏻🛠️🔩🔧⚙️⛓️🦺🚧😄 ✊🏻🇺🇲🦅🇺🇲✊🏻

The 'new' TPMS have to be reprogrammed to this truck now. They will work fine, but the linking has to be done by someone with the scanner\tool to do it.

Seems like I could spend an entire day finding a tank big enough to dunk a huge tire into and another half of the day looking for a leak that would take even more time to fix and no guarantee that it would work...what I did to fix the leak with slime took less than an hour and in the 2 times I've tried it was successful both times....probably not the best thing to do but since it worked with so little time investment I'd do it again.
@tdotw772 ай бұрын
@@NBSWELDING Being a little dramatic there CB. Your motto is work with what you have that way you always have what you need! I'm sure you can figure out that a $5 child's plastic pool would be just fine to check for a tire leak. You did solve the problem I agree....untill it comes to dismounting and remounting those new tires and the tire shop has to deal with the slime. Don't bother me either way, just trying to give advice, you do what you want, it's your truck! Also slime is terrible for those TPMS too which also need to be synced to the vehicle they're now on btw.
