Both of my front tires are wearing out on the inner and outer edges slightly. Enough to be able to see them when inspected. It's in a pattern as of the tires moves slightly in and out as it is running. What can cause this?

what are mechanical parts should check when tyre are worn out in following occasions 1.when tyre worn-out from inside to outside and vice versa and why? 2.how misalignment is taking place and why?
@mauriceupton14745 жыл бұрын
90% of the uneven worn tyre problem is badly educated and dishonest alignment specialists IMO. Most tend to fudge the figures on the spreadsheet that they give you pretend to have aligned tyres. For example if your total front toe is more than one millimetre or 0.08degree its too much. Any more than half a millimetre on either side give me a total of 1 mm total toe is excessive, learn to question their sheets that they give you after your wheel alignment. My advice is look at your car user manual, copy of the page that tells you what you're toe, caster and camber is, tell them this is what you want and you want to see the before and after figures and if it's not right take it straight back to them straight away because once the tires are damaged they'll just blame it on low tire pressure or you're driving. This advice is from 40 years of driving and car ownership. On average get 30- 40,000 kilometres out of a set of tires.

So what if you have all your steering and suspension components all in good working order but still suffer from outside cupping? Is it toe and camber angle issues ?

Great video, I love your visual very effective teaching tool. I have a 2014 Cherokee trail hawk and my rear inner tires are wearing but in an odd way to me. I also hear a drone sound that gets louder as I accelerate(super annoying). Any ideas as to what the trouble is? Thanks for sharing 4:36
@gingin10503 ай бұрын
Does anyone know if this will cause the feeling of not being able to accelerate? My driver side is worn o n the inside tread. For a few weeks i have this rhythmic howling sound. I first noticed it going 45mph. I thought it was a windy day, it wasn't, its the car. Even at 15mph it howls. And i feel resistance. I haven't taken it over 40mph since the discovery? It feels really stressed. 2000 escalade. Automatic.

@douglaszylberkan8182 Жыл бұрын
Great explanation. Can you talk about ball joints? Is it true that your car cant be align if ball joints are bad, in this case a ford truck with upper and lower balljoint that are worned. Would bad ball joints worn out the tires? Thank you Doug

yes most shops wont do it if you have bad ball joints i installed a leveling kit on my truck not knowing about my ball joints and took it to get aligned and they declined it for bad ball joints

Can repetitive speed hump traffic at low speed for a year also cause tire cupping/feathering on the tires outer edges? I am feeling a vibration in the steering wheel at around 60 to 80 mph. Speeds less than that no real vibration issues. Tire pressure is good. Recently rotated the front to back and back to front tires at around 15K miles.
@mpbill102 жыл бұрын
The tires will be affected by the weakened struts from the speed bumps try to roll up and over them slower to slow the process.

What about heal toe wear? Tires were a couple years old, even nice wear, all-weather aggressive truck tires. I changed out the tie rod ends and ball joints on the front end, then had the front end aligned. I started commuting to work about a hundred miles a day, I did have the front tires overinflated by 5 psi to try and save on gas for the summer work season. Half way through the season tires got loud. Both front tires got pretty aggressive heal-Toe wear. I let the pressure back down hoping it would even back out, another month and a half and they did not, maybe even worse. I am hoping maybe this was just from the over inflation? though the wear is across the tire evenly not just the middle and every other tread is high and the one between is low causing for a rough feel when moving very slow in the driveway and a very loud noise going down the highway, so loud I cant have the windows down or I get a headache. The rear tires were also at the same PSI but the pressure the sticker on door recommends for the rear and the wear on them is fine. Do you think this is just from the overpressure? I am hoping rotating the front tires from driver to passenger side will maybe get the high spots to wear back down? Would love any advice or input. I just hope it is not more suspension parts that need to be replaced. Both front tires have the exact same wear pattern and amount of wear so I do not think it is from a bad strut/shock absorber bearing etc, I would expect only one side to be messed up. could they have done something in the alignment that could have caused this or me replacing the ball joints? I did everything by the book and the shop said it looks good.
